VeniceMenace Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Who would have ever suspected anything would ever be unseemly with the Memphis basketball program. Wonder how this will affect the team SLU faces next season? Memphis men’s basketball facing several NCAA violations - Sports Illustrated 3star_recruit 1 Quote
AnkielBreakers Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Schadenfreude. It is a thing. That said, the NCAA is really ridiculous. I would rather these kids make a reasonable wage, and get anything they want or demand, and we can stop wasting time searching coaches laptops. rgbilliken 1 Quote
Coach314 Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Lol Wiseman left BBE to play for Team Hardaway. Left his high school team to go play for Hardaway. Then Wiseman accepted impermissible benefits at Memphis. Penny had to know eyes were on him before Wiseman stepped on campus. No information is private these days. cgeldmacher and BilliesBy40 2 Quote

CBFan Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Sorry to see this but not a surprise because I thought the Memphis program seemed a little sketchy. I am a Hardaway fan even though he beat us with a few seconds to go in a game where he received a long pass and laid it in. I was hoping the Memphis program would stay solid as a top 50 program SLU could play more in the future. Quote
Soderball Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 This stuff is absolutely rife in college basketball. NIL, "champions center" .. this crap. "Cardinal rules" .. let's knock it off and just pay them. The desire to win is too much. If fans don't like pro sports, they'll stop going and the money will wind down. This is becoming an issue larger than just collegiate sports by doing it this way. Quote
HoosierPal Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Memphis on three year probation, $5000 fine, and vacate one win that Wiseman played in. Lol. Joking aside - as long as Memphis is okay with the shadiness (which they obviously are & is becoming more acceptable / less likely to be punished in the NIL era), then Penny may be about as good as they can hope for in a head coach.
