So who is SLU looking at Mineral Area College?

Tony Irons just took over as Head Coach there.  Not sure who is on the roster but there will be lots of area talent.

So I read that the roster limit for NCAA Division 1 men's and women's basketball teams will be expanded to 15 players for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is an increase from the current limit of 13 players.

So with 3 graduating seniors + 2 new spots there will be at least 5 new players next year.  I would expect a couple transfers as well at the minimum.

So recruiting should be real interesting.  I was surprised when Schertz said he planned to sign 3 or 4 HS kids this Fall.  Now I understand why he can do this with roster expansion ..... still expect at least one or two high quality transfer guards being signed with the end of eligiblity for Swope, Jimerson & Johnson.

Is there going to be a roster limit of 15? I think they were talking about that in both men and women’s soccer, increase to 28 scholarships in both of them, but coupling that with a roster limit of 28 as well.

This is very likely going to be true.  The increase is part of the NCAA Settlement agreement v House that has yet to be finalized. It is also highly probable that schools can pay players directly from revenue next season.  It won't be a requirement, but if others pay and you don't, good luck.  Today Tennessee announced that they will raise ticket prices for football 10%, to partially cover this new expense.  Student fees will double.  At least they are being transparent in stating why they are increasing the ticket prices.  This is the future.

Off we go:

h/t to the other posters who mentioned this in other threads.

3 1/2 years later, Carbuccia has committed to UMass. He was Ford's first offer to the class of 2025.

Keaton Wagler - SG, 6-6, 175 - Shawnee, KS (Shawnee Mission Northwest) - AAU: VWBA Elite - Twitter: @KeatonW34
Offers: Saint Louis, DePaul, Colorado State, Florida International, Murray State, SIU-Carbondale, Illinois-Chicago, Oral Roberts, Kansas City, Northern Colorado, Abilene Christian, Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Interest: Loyola-Chicago, Illinois, Wyoming, Tulsa, Illinois State, East Tennessee State, James Madison, UC-Santa Barbara, Northwestern State.

Latest News: Wagler received an offer from SLU. (7/23/24)

Scouting Report: Wagler is a versatile, smooth, smart, athletic guard who can handle, pass, and shoot. He has great positional size. makes the right reads, and plays at his own tempo. He's an outstanding defender with good instincts and rebounding ability. He finishes in traffic and hits his jumper under pressure. He plays with a high motor and draws fouls. He led his HS team to a state championship and undefeated record as a junior.

Wagler is off the board to Illinois. Blew up right as SLU offered.

I love that we have a coach that knows exactly what he wants and who fits his system rather than just aimlessly recruiting guys purely on athleticism or ranking services.  This allows him to get guys who may be great in his program even if they may be overlooked by others.

It's just nice having a coach with a system again....

If Dotzler is emerging as the best point/handler guard, it says a lot for him. It means he is ahead of Johnson and LH Jr, who are pretty good players. Dotzler has by far the least div 1 experience, but probably  the highest ceiling.

They might have been watching Aidan Chronister, a 2026 6-8 SG. Putz and Boisvert follow him on X. But he's a top 50-ish player whose most recent offer is from Indiana, so it would be a crowded, competitive pool to jump in.

Boisvert also follows Ivan Juric, a 7-footer from Croatia. Colorado, Iowa, and Loyola have been out to watch him recently.

Rob Gardiner follows Mekhi Ragland, a 6-11 big man, but he's already got a top 5 that doesn't include SLU.

It could've also been a trip to say hello to a coaching staff they know (Pikaar was at Sunrise last season) and look for some new potential recruits (possibly tipped by said staff).
