Ted Wilson is probably the best bread baker in the area.   He baked/managed for The Good Pie for a long time.  True craftsman when it comes to bread.

The real craftmanship of pizza making is passed from mother to daughter within families. People belonging to this wonderful tradition can make the pizza bread pie to match the specific topping they are planning too top the pizza with. I was invited to one such party once, long ago. Each single pizza had a different topping and a different bread pie, with different thickness, flavor, and texture for the bread. Every pizza's bread matched the topping perfectly, in a mysterious fashion. It was marvelous, I still remember the experience.

Pizza craftsmanship is a fusion of culinary artistry and tradition, where every step, from dough to toppings, is executed with precision and passion. It begins with the dough, a symphony of flour, water, yeast, and salt, kneaded to perfection and left to ferment for depth of flavor. Then comes the sauce, a harmonious blend of tomatoes, herbs, and spices, simmered to just the right consistency. Toppings are carefully selected, sourced, and sliced with care, ensuring each ingredient contributes to a symphony of flavors. Finally, the pizza is baked in a blistering hot oven, where the dough transforms into a crispy yet chewy crust, and the cheese melts into a golden blanket, sealing in the essence of each ingredient. Pizza craftsmanship is not just about creating a meal; it's about crafting an experience that tantalizes the senses and leaves a lasting impression on every palate.

I certainly hope our Athletic Dept. is doing the same thing.  I'm sure many of the Fortune 500 companies Mizzou is going after are located in St. Louis.

There are not that many of these with HQ in St. Louis, only 7. In addition there are 8 privately owned companies of similar size HQ in St. Louis, not in Fortune 500 because they are not publicly owned. The US city with the most Fortune 500 companies is NY with 50. Google it if you wish.

Robbie gets a sweet NBA style ride.

It really is a very nice car. However, stuff like this does not come down from heaven. Bonmarito may take this giveaway as a business expense, or it may just give him the car as a gift or as compensation. Taxes become an issue depending on how Bonmarito reported this transaction. NILs paid in cash are easier to deal with than NILs paid with goods.

A new Cadillac CTS V Blackwing 2024 is worth about $125,000 MSRP. I went to the Cadillac site and "built" (pieced together) a new CTS V Blackwing 2024. The MSRP I gave above is what the Cadillac site said its MSRP (prior to special offers and incentives) would be. I assume the car was given to him as his personal property. I have no idea how Bonmarito designated this transfer but I am sure a contract was signed. IF Avila has to pay taxes on the value of this NIL and he gets over $200,000 overall in taxable NILs, his Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) may go quite high. I am not sure if NILs in general, or what types of NILs, are taxable or not, but if the car qualifies as part of his AGI under IRS rules, it may wind up raising his marginal tax rate (Fed and MO) to a bit over 48% of AGI for 2024. Of course, he can depreciate the car or some percentage of the car's value if he can claim a business use for it, but I doubt this can be done. I hope he is putting a good amount of his NIL money into savings, he may need it next April.

I really think the Athletic Department should offer free presentations by competent accountants, lawyers, and investment advisors to kids getting large amounts of NILs. Think about it, do you really think that a young kid will really review the fine print of a contract transferring a car like this to him. Not likely.

What I wrote above is real, and it depends upon the contract signed. Avila needs, and I hope he already has, competent advisors to keep him out of trouble.

To Old Guy’s post, it could simply be a lease deal where Bomaritos’s picks up the tab and calls it compensation for promotion expenses. Still, he’s gonna get taxed on it someway or somehow. No escaping the long arm of the IRS unless your last name is Biden.

Wouldn’t Avila’s tax attorney set up some sort of Delaware-incorporated foundation for him so Bommarito could say they are donating the car to a charity ala 1-877-KARS4-KIDS? It would be a win for everyone.

You are correct that no one escapes the IRS. The IRS does not operate the way you think is the way they choose to get people that have not paid their taxes properly. If the IRS decides you are someone that should be audited they are not obligated to act immediately. Instead they may wait a number of years, and then start a series of audits, one after the other, starting from the initial year they are going to do and then continuing for all the following years until the current tax year. Each year they will charge you for the following: 1. Amount you owe. 2 interest for the time you have owed this amount. 3. Penalty for owing this amount. The penalty charged for each year's audit can go as high as multiple times the total amount you owe for the year plus interest charged for that year's audit. They do this for each and every year they audit, the overall amount the IRS can collect for the total series of audits can rise to a very large sum of money.

It is not fun to be audited by the IRS and the kids getting the high NILs should be aware of this but most likely they are not.

One more point to be made. You (in this case Bonmarito) cannot lease a car to someone, pick up the tab, and call if "compensation for promotional expenses." The cost of doing this is either included in the company's business expenses or it is compensation paid to the recipient, not  both. This still leaves multiple issues open, maintenance, repair, registration expenses and insurance for the car. Also issues of liability like who is to be liable if the car hits and hurts someone, etc... All of these issues should be dealt with in the contract signed. There is nothing simple about a deal like this. Remember that Bonmarito does not wish to retain any liability for injuries caused by the car when it is driven by Avila or his friends.

To reply to this post, a lot of things can be done IF the player is aware of all of these issues and has retained a lawyer  to deal with them. The real question is whether Avila is aware that he needs to  retain a competent lawyer who can practice law in Missouri.

Every kid getting high NILs should have a number of competent professionals (lawyer, financial advisor, accountant) working for them. I honestly doubt they rely on anyone other than their agent.

I'm sure this is a lease. Wouldn't his taxes be included in the monthly payment that's already being covered?

The things like the lease, taxes on the car and titling probably are covered, but all those payments on Robbie’s behalf will be considered income earned by the IRS, MO and the city.  Robbie will have to pay income taxes on that.
