I am not trying to be cute.  i did not say anything about reparations.  I simply said the the skill of a surgeon may play a role in the outcome of surgery.  A rather obvious statement.  I have no idea who  operated on or Perkins or his or her skill.

@papal I know you are trying to be cute, don't. Subpar surgeons exist but they tend to go bankrupt when their unhappy customers find medical injury lawyers. Anyone doing surgery regularly does at the very least a standard level job. And when a Dr. tells you "you can do what you do normally" they are CATEGORICALLY NOT saying you are clear to play professional level basketball, they mean you can walk, go up and down stairs and run a bit.

Sr season Perkins could still make a good living overseas playing ball.  Maybe his injuries just continued to add up or he had more than we know about.

Getting kind of concerned about the quiet around Jordan Goodwin.  Teams are signing guys to deals that seemingly are worse players than Jordan.  Haven't been able to find even any recent rumors as to where he might end up.

The grizzlies out right released him. He is an unrestricted Free Agent.  He's too good to be on a g league roster.  He is one of the top 20 free agents still available.  Thought he would get a look before some of the other guys who have singed already.

No.  Goodwin hoping to earn a 2 way contract but the chances of it are slim right now.

Sucks. I know his shooting is improved, but not great. I still thought his attitude, on court performance, and ability to play point guard or wing would have gotten him more.

I still think someone could use him. He's too good a player and he's proven himself worthy of bench minutes.

Javonte was playing deep in the Australian minor leagues.  Cody Ellis still plays in the Australian minors as well.

Looks like Brooke Flower’s first professional season is over, her team, Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, lost in the semifinals of their league in Australia. She played 22 games, averaged 21.1 minutes per game, 9.4 pts/game, 8.5 rebounds/game, 2.2 blocks/game.  She led her team in rebounds per game and blocks per game (dominated that category).
 

The French league Kyla McMakin is in doesn’t start until early October.

Here is a blast from the past.  Just got this one…Gene Moore with the San Diego Conquistadors of the ABA.   His SLU stats  11.2 PPG/10.3 RPG.   Was 2nd in school history in total rebounds when he graduated and still in the Top 10.  He played on five teams in six ABA seasons (12 PPG/9 RPG).   He holds the all-time record in league history for total fouls, fouls per season and most disqualifications.   He turned 79 in July.   100% badass!

That red, white, and blue ball brings back a lot of memories. Had a friend who’s dad worked in management at the coliseum where the Carolina Cougars played. His dad would give him an official ABA ball at the start of the season and we used it so much that by March, almost all the color was out of the ball and the rubber bladder underneath the leather was showing.

Watching that ball spin through the net after a swished jumper was a beautiful sight.

They were the Spirits of St. Louis of course.   I have an auto picture of Nieman with the Cougars and photo of him I think with a South Florida team.

It was too bad that Buddy Bremher was the coach. The 66-67 team with Bobby Cole and John Kilo was probably more talented.

I've gone against this narrative several times but SLU played in the best conference in basketball in 67-68.  We did have 3 future NBA players but so did 4 other teams in the conference.  EVERY team in the conference had NBA players.  Niemann was probably no better than the 3rd best center in the conference.  Wiley was outmatched defensively against some really good SFs.  Orms was probably the 4th or 5th best guard, maybe not even that high.  We lost some close games but if you look at basketball reference we had the 6th best schedule in the NCAAs and our SRS, a similar metric to NET was 21st.  We had a top 30 team in the country, just our league had 3 or 4 other teams better than us.  Judged by today's standards this team was better than maybe all but 1 or 2 of the modern era teams.

Will this be the opportunity for Patrick Schulte to get on the USMNT in the upcoming international window? Games upcoming are friendlies against Canada Sep 7th at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City and New Zealand Sep 10th at TQL in Cincinnati. From an article by Doug McIntyre on Foxsports.com about the US goalkeeper situation:
 

Longtime U.S. starter Matt Turner is now the third choice keeper at Premier League side Nottingham Forest, leaving his status as the No. 1 in serious jeopardy. The 30-year-old backstop desperately needs a new club. But in the absence of three obviously better options, there's every chance Turner is still called in. 

Ethan Horvath is off to a nightmare start with last place Cardiff City in England' second tier. Youngster Gaga Slonina has acquitted himself so far well with third division Barnsley, but he could be better served staying put for the Tykes' Sept. 7 league match. That leaves the door open for MLS keepers Zack Steffen and Patrick Schulte. The former just led the Colorado Rapids to the Leagues Cup semifinals. The latter ably backstopped the U.S. Olympic team, then claimed the Leagues Cup with the Columbus Crew.

Bremher was a terrible coach.  He had no control over the players off the court.  If he had any kind of skill as a coach he would have had a dynamite of a team.

Schulte called into camp, but Slonina wasn't.  18 of the 24 are repeats from COPA.  Not enough new faces.  Varas will be coaching the squad.

Well this is cool.  I was torn whether to stay home and watch the SLU -Penn State game or take a little roadie to see Patrick Clohisy in his final home game of the season for the Augusta Green Jackets.  I headed north.    I made the right call.  Pat has quickly become the best hitter on this Braves affiliate.  The kids were clamoring for his autograph more than any other player.  Got to say hi and had a very nice conversation with his parents as well.
