Another forecast.  Most rankings that I have seen are consistent on the Top 5, with placement changing.

According to the second link, we only have a 45% chance of beating Santa Clara. I know they don’t really have a data pool to pull from apart from piecing together individual performances from last year, but I like our chances a lot better than 45%. Also has us at 8-10 in the A10.

This is interesting in that when Scherz came in, during one of his initial interviews, he used the terms Creator instead of Handler and Big instead of Trigger.  I like the term Creator over Handler, not as limiting to me, and Trigger over Big, only as it pertains to Avila. Hybrids, Swings and Shooters were in his original terminology.

Worthless coach speak jargon.

Ken Pom obviously is either a lazy "journalist" or lacks college basketball knowledge.

He really does not become relevant till mid-December.

You should see who has us losing to and a final record. I would be highly disappointed if we have at the end his prediction. I know I am drowning in Kool aid but I see this team similar to the 12-15 teams. A more cerebral team rather than raw athleticism.

SIAP

Blue Ribbon is out and has us 25th in the nation and RA as a 3rd team All-American. And they have LH is the 5th starter FWIW.

A quick look  through the previews of some of our opponenets shows there are going to be a few sneaky good OOC games starting with Santa Clara. And LMU has a strong Missouri connection with Lorenzo Romar as an assistant and the youngest Porter (Jevon) and Chris Carrawell's son on the roster.

If you only buy one preview BR is the one, IMO.

Umass Lowell at #120 was a shock I wasn't expecting.

What Ken Pom does is similar to what the Wiz does. He bases the preseason rankings upon the prior year rankings. Considering Team Ranking rankings for last season had SLU at 184 (do not know Ken Pom rankings for the end of las season) his preseason ranking is not out of line. He will wait, as The Wiz does for actual game result to modify his rankings. From a statistical point of view, both The Wiz and Ken Pom (using different systems based upon data) are correct.

in this day and age of college sports free agency that is a worthless act.   every team will pretty much have a majority of their roster completely turned over.   and basing their "prediction" on last year is foolish.   i hope they dont get paid for that work.

Ap poll is out.  We received 9 votes, tied for #40th

The one non-P6 team in the preseason Top 25 (Gonzaga) will soon be in the P6. Then you have to go all the way down to McNeese, followed by us with 9 votes to find the non-P6 schools. This is just a preseason poll of course and hopefully several non-P6 schools will exceed expectations, but I remain pessimistic about non P-6 schools having the opportunity to earn at large bids in the future unless something changes in the current landscape.
