  1. FWIW, at the golf tournament today, Ford spoke and said they have “4-5 guys” here or coming in before dead period starts on Thursday. It’s a quiet period now so they can have guys here, but they can’t go and see recruits/trfrs An employee of the AD said there are 3 bigs on campus this week, but that’s more hearsay and to be taken with a grain of salt, but at least fits with Ford’s timeline we went 60 today (-9) and lost by 7 #yikes

  2. Did they bribe him with a Dodge Charger? That oughta cut into the smoke machine budget

  3. This last point is spot on. On the NIT selection show - I don't recall who the analyst was - but when SLU was announced he matter of factly said that with a healthy Perkins SLU would have been a NCAA Tourney team. I'm not sure what some people on this board were expecting after Perkins went down, but I think a strong case could be made that under the circumstances Ford at least met and probably even exceeded reasonable expectations for this team.

  4. It's unnecessary to downplay Dayton's talent level in order to build ourselves up. They beat Kansas last year with a bunch of freshmen. If they make the normal freshman to sophomore improvement, Lord knows what they're capable of accomplishing this year.

  5. The more I think about it, I’m less and less concerned with having a stretch 4. I want as many minutes as possible with Perk, Yuri, GJim, Pick, FT, and what if Parker is really good, Hargrove will get minutes also and this does not account for a back up point. Let’s say we add a quality inside big and a back up point. We have 120 minutes between all of our guards and wings. I want Perk, Pick, and GJim on the floor 30 mpg each leaving 30 minutes for Parker, Thatch, and Hargrove plus the Frosh. The stretch 4 will have to be pretty damn good for me to really want him to take minutes

  6. Started his career at Indiana. Looks like he was injured for a good part of last year, which would explain the drop in production. Was very solid the prior year with very good rebounding numbers. Looks like a solid, second big, but does not bring the "stretch" element to his game that I would like to see. It appears he would be a solid addition.

  7. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to offering Marcus Wilson a spot on the staff if it guaranteed John Bol coming to SLU.

  9. I was highlighting those games as reason for expectations leading to the let down of not making the tournament. This team looked like it belonged in the NCAA Tourney at times without Perkins. It was smoke and mirrors or exceeding our ceiling. We didn't actually belong.

  10. We were not picked to dance in year 1 (taking over the Crews trainwreck), year 2 (even before Situation 2, we were expected to be an NIT team at best), or year 4 (lose Bess and Isabell to graduation and bring in a bunch of first-year players).

  11. Here we go again with high expectations. They scare the hell out of me. Every year we get them we seem to get slammed by the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not going to get too excited until we find out the quality of the guys who fill in the roster holes. Today we just have too many question marks; Perkins recovery, Parker's adjustment to D1, just one big and one PG. Granted this team has talent, but it lacks quantity.

  12. On the schedule. I didn't make notes but I think those are the only names we didn't know already

  14. Looks like Knox will be announcing his choice tomorrow at 5pm The “show” he is announcing on seems to be YouTube show run by a guy from this Doc Holliday* guy who is from Memphis & seems to focus on Memphis sports among others things. I’m guessing that means that Knox re-commits to Memphis. Interesting according to Twitter this Holliday dude also has a football podcast with Isaac Bruce so there is a really obscure St Louis connection that probably doesn’t mean anything here.

  17. Rothstein is an A10 booster. He'll back whatever teams he considers the best in a given year. Even when he gets off a team's bandwagon, he gets right back on it after they string together some good wins because that's what's best for the conference.

  20. Sure doesn't feel that way, and it's hard to get anxious considering we've swung and missed on our initial targets. I think concern is absolutely a fair emotion among the fanbase.
