johnbj14
I understand the mentality of Cook not wanting to stay home. I actually find this to be a very interesting point with recruiting. Often times, schools make a big deal about being able to recruit in their own backyard. However, many college students are looking to get away from home. Why then do we assume athletes to be any different? Not saying there is no such thing as a hometown advantage, but I do feel it is blown out of context. It is not the same as if we were are a school like Indiana recruiting a kid from Bloomington. Just some food for thought.
Cowboy
-don't really want to go through the high school season lamenting who we didn't get, but appears we will -I haven't seen CCP this season, but I thought Gladson improved his mobility a lot from the start of last season until it ended, with similar or even modest improvement I don't see how he couldn't help us, perhaps not day one but at some point
3star_recruit
Coach Crews in the house checking out Levi Stockard and Vashon take on Hazelwood Central in the championship of the Vianney Invitational. One ref calling a bunch of phantom fouls against Vashon, including Stockard. The most atrocious was a clear out called on Stockard as he went straight up for a rebound. 46-34 Central, at the half. Stockard looking good down low in the few minutes he was allowed. Dwayne Polk coached the team in Wednesday's victory over Vianney. Tony Irons back on the bench tonight. 3star_recruit
Central barely pulls it out 73-71 even with the help of the ref with a vendetta and Vashon possibly setting a record for missed free throws. The V is going to be dangerous the next couple of years. Stockard is an intriguing talent -- a cerebral power player.
Pistol
2017 updates on guys we've offered (news on the watch list forthcoming): Ohio State was out to watch Nojel Eastern alongside Northwestern this week; NW has offered and OSU has not. Xavier was out to see him last week; they offered in December. Goodwin is playing some great basketball so far this season. Illinois remains the frontrunner and has made it clear that he's a priority. Mizzou has also been out to see him in the early going. This will go down as one of the legendary recruiting misses for SLU if things continue on this trajectory. Zach Gunn scored 30 of Hamilton SE's 53 points in an OT loss to Park Tudor with Butler and Tom Crean in the house to see him. Javon Pickett is lighting it up so far this season. Groce and his Illinois staff have been watching him the most. Tilmon had a lot of eyes on him at the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in West Virginia. Illinois assistant Jamall Walker, Louisville, and others. He's been playing well, racking up some double-doubles, but isn't relied on as the main scoring option at a loaded La Lumiere team. Pistol
These guys sound half way decent. We have no chance. This is also my fear. Eastern is going Big Ten or Big East, I'd think. We the bed on Goodwin, and it looks like the same is happening with Pickett - Illinois is really, really pushing for the pair. Gunn might stay in state for IU or Butler, but that could just be the homer recruiting reporters talking (granted, those also seem to be the schools after him the hardest). Tilmon isn't coming to SLU. But we're still in the mix for his teammate Joey St. Pierre. There are a couple other offers who I didn't mention because there isn't much news to report - Yess is playing well for Parkway West, Ridder is playing well for Kickapoo, and Pierre-Louis is playing well for Roselle Catholic and has a million offers and will likely stay closer to the east coast. Updates on the interest list coming soon.
Pistol
Other 2017 updates: UIC was in to see Nana Akenten in Bolingbrook's loss to Homewood-Flossmoor. He visited Valpo recently. Goodwin, Bateman, Frederking and others will be at the Highland Shootout tomorrow. Willie Herenton and his older brother Rodney have been playing well for Stevenson, who is trying to fill the void left by Jalen Brunson. SLU was out to see them beat Lake Forest (and Lorenzo Edwards) this week. They're big-time students; Rodney's only offer is from Dartmouth and he just got accepted into Stanford academically but is unsure whether he'll get a scholarship there. Willie doesn't have any offers yet but is starting to hear from schools; SLU was among the first involved. They transferred to Stevenson from Whitney Young; I'm guessing Reynolds knows both of them. Ra Kpedi is playing extremely well this season for Lawrence North. He added offers from Monmouth and Western Illinois and the interest from Indiana, Purdue, Butler, Maryland, and others is heating up. Cooper Neese committed to Butler. Christian Negron, who is averaging 5.5 blocks per game, picked up a Butler offer. Negron is a 6-7 forward who has developed a fully-rounded game; he can step out and shoot threes, loves to run a fast break, and finishes hard in traffic. He recently visited DePaul. He has a few Big Ten offers and it's surprising there aren't more. Seniors Mike Smith and Mike Ballard do most of the scoring, but Jamal Nixon is leading Fenwick in rebounding and dishing out a lot of assists and is considered the team's leader on both ends of the floor. Fenwick is 12-1, and many are crediting Nixon's development, complete game, and leadership as the big reason why. He tore a meniscus a year ago, so his development is particularly encouraging and his recruitment is still under the radar. Jack Nunge picked up a Vanderbilt offer and Xavier has been out to watch him a lot lately. Alex O'Connell has offers from K-State and Auburn now, and Auburn and UAB were out to see him this week. Charles Payton is going to visit Illinois again. No offer yet, and not sure if one is forthcoming. He has offers from Nebraska, UIC, and SIUC. Nathan Reuvers visited Creighton. Still hoping for a Minnesota offer. David Sloan picked up an Iowa State offer, but Louisville remains his leader after his recent visit. Pistol
T.J. Smith visited Iowa State again but still doesn't have an offer from them. Old Dominion has also been out to see him lately. Alec Spence is scoring a ton for MICDS. Indiana State and Cleveland State were out to see him. SEMO remains his only offer. I was wrong about Joey St. Pierre being Tilmon's teammate at La Lumiere; he transferred back to Richmond Burton during the winter break, probably because Tilmon took his spot. Collin Stallworth visited Western Illinois and had South Dakota out to see him. It's still unclear whether he will play football or basketball in college, but these visits were for basketball. Indiana State was out to see Ryan Stipanovich; I don't think they've offered yet.

crymdg2
Update on Goodwin. Doesn't sound promising at all for SLU: http://www.prephoops.com/2016/01/jordan-goodwin-video/ All the more reason we need to end this circus asap! The fact we went from him openly stating he loved SLU to not even being mentioned is unreal. This staff has botched his recruitment so badly. BigMouthBilliken
You'd have to be out of your mind if you wanted to come play here. Either that or you have no other offers. With the product we put out we will win zero recruiting battles
Billboy1
Is it even worth while to talk about any recruiting until this mess is straightened out. Who would want to even consider this situation. At this point it would seem we would not have a chance with any decent recruit.
