Here’s one. Alex Barlow. He’s drawing up plays to take down 14th ranked Creighton at home. Obviously, when the Butler job opens up he’d be gone but this is the type of coaching candidate I’d be looking for.

I would look at Greg Heiar.  Got let go after a few off court issues surfaced and he was kinda the scapegoat.  Dude came to Mineral Area and has them ranked 2nd at 21-0 in his 1st year.  Nice guy, young, coaches hard and has he team playing ridiculous defense.  MAC is always good but I've never had so many people tell me I have to see this team play.  They blow almost everyone out.

I’m firmly in the “Fire Ford” camp, but if it came down to keeping Ford or hiring Heiar, I’d run down Ford’s contract. That’s way too much baggage for me.

Sorry I'm lazy.  Who is Heiar with?

Terrible idea.

Really really hard to recruit athletes when guys get raped in your program.

There’s a number of coaches who get thrown out there on sports talk radio whenever SLU has an opening purely out of name recognition in the local media (Barry Hinson, Jay Spoonhour for example). Good people, but I call that list the “Coaches whose mention as a SLU head coach candidate makes me want to throw up”. I’d hire anyone on that list over Heiar.

@willie Thought Hall Monitor, please review below for compliance:

Just want to go on record as being anti-rape or rape adjacent.  So we're all agreed no coaches that are rapists, were rapists or coached rapists.

But also did you notice the schools' settlement for multiple sexual assaults was less than Ford's buy out?

I think the national debt may also be less than Ford's buyout too.

Not a freaking chance. That dude is a bum. Lost total control of a program in…less than 5 months.

Should we bring in Larry Nassar as team doctor, too?  Geez

I guess this also disqualifies Dave Bliss.

We actually interviewed Bliss. A long time ago. It was when Spoon quit and we ended up hiring Romer.

Bliss was still with New Mexico. He turned us down and ended up at Baylor.

Easy boys.  I don't think our program can throw stones regarding sex scandals.  Have met the guy and I was impressed.  Actually don't give a sh*t.  Just throwing a name out there.

You can call situations 1 & 2 “sex scandals”, but they are far from it.  #1 was due to the girl involved having parents that were friends with the old Business School namesake, and #2 was due to girls being unhappy that their indiscretions were videotaped.

New Mexico State’s issues were in the locker room, and the coach knew about it and didn’t report it.  Heiar seems really impressive, in a Harvey Weinstein sort of way.

Can’t be worse than A-bombs choice for AD, Dave Heeke. Google him.

Have you been hanging with Courtside at Middle School games again?

I get it that maybe legal in KY but it's not most places.

I did Google him, he’s hired great coaches.  The $55M shortfall for the athletics department is from COVID loans.  What are your thoughts on their University President, the guy on the hook for a $250M deficit?  The AD was a sacrificial lamb for the academics.

Dude’s winning % as a head coach is over .800. As for his past history, he can go to confession and he’s good to go.
