  1. It’s very clear to me that the more Perkins has the ball in his hands the more comfortable he is. He needs to be initiating offense as a 1B to Yuri’s 1A. Every handful of possessions put the ball in his hands to make the plays. I think when he’s consistently off the ball and only touching it a few times per game he gets out of sync. He’s very much a rhythm scorer and they need to put him in the drivers seat like he was on Saturday. He has the ability to completely carry you offensively

  2. I agree with the somehow losing the dregs of the conference. My point is that Loyola and Belmont are far better than other (more eastern) options when the conference did expand and if it does expand again in the future. Honestly, the best hope is some day the leadership at SLU, Richmond and Dayton wake up one morning deciding that waiting on an invitation to the Big East that is probably never coming is fruitless. They then decide they need to take control over their own futures and follow what the schools that created the Mountain West did 25 years ago when they left the WAC and formed their own conference. Pull in five or six other current members (from St. Joe, GW, Fordham, Loyola, VCU, UMass and RI), add a program or programs like a Witchita St. or Belmont from outside the conference and get to 9-11 members. Let Richmond decide if they want to take VCU along. You go from there and you can poach mid major and low programs in geographic beneficial areas that have established themselves to increase conference membership in the future if needed.

  4. Very true, Loyola-Chicago in the A10 is good for SLU in all sports. I wish the A10 would go after Belmont next.

  6. I have always thought there is a pretty damn good "midwestern" non-football school conference to be had. I'd probably cut it off east of Ohio. SLU, Dayton, Wichita, Loyola, Drake, Belmont, Bradley, Northern Kentucky, Oral Roberts and one other within that footprint. Play a round robin 18 game schedule. The only issue is that any new conference has to apply for an auto-bid and there are certain requirements for that - which I can't remember off the top of my head.

  9. Market capture, probably. Belmont specifically because we'd all love a Nashville trip every(/other) year

  10. Belmont, is another school that makes sense for SLU for reasons far beyond how they would perform on the basketball court. Nashville is the 5th fastest growing metro area in the country and the A10 is a conference that desperately needs a southern presence outside of Charlotte and Richmond. You got to go to where the kids are.

  11. Loyola will be fine. Will they be VCU in the A10? No, but they won't have a multi decade run at the bottom of the conference like Fordham had either. Even if they did, it is better for SLU to have Loyola in the conference than another Philly, DC or VA school. That is true for both the basketball program and the university.

  15. So you hit him with your car because he was to close to the road? That’s hardcore. I’ve seen a lot of bikers I’ve wanted to clip with my car but never went through with it. Kudos to you sir!

  17. There is something to this. Most players get in a rhythm with more touches. On the flip side, Perkins used to go off on offense without touching the ball or handling it much at all. It was all elbow jumpers off curls and 3 pointers. He'd have 17 points in a game and have dibbled the ball 12 times or something crazy like that. I think the bigger factor is Perkins just being healthy again and finding his confidence again.

  18. I have no idea how bad it is but the injury isn’t why he didn’t play. He didn’t play because he never plays.

  19. On the season we average a turnover on 14.4% of our possessions. On Saturday it was 10.9% of plays. That is a big improvement. That said, it was only our 9th most offensively efficient game of the season. We our a better team with Yuri, especially the way he had been playing on both ends the two games prior to Saturday. I have had problems with his play at times, but if this team is ever going to be close to what we hoped for we need a healthy Yuri playing smart basketball on both ends.

  20. On a miss there’s nobody in college basketball better handling the ball than Yuri. On makes his value goes way down. It’s time to put him in the corner on makes and let Perkins and Pickett run the point.
