  1. None of this is about academics. Academics was the last thing on UCLA or USCs mind.

  4. I think Perkins is more likely to play in the NBA than Yuri. That said, I wouldn't bet on either.

  6. It’s nice that we have a handful of players that actually have a chance. Ford has upgraded the talent base to a level we’ve never had.

  7. When did he say that he will makes it? It looks like all he said was most NBA centers don’t shoot 3’s. It also looks like facts were provided backing up that statement.

  8. This is even close to being correct. This is a myth that people who don't watch enough NBA basketball believe. Some starting NBA centers are a threat from three, most are not. Hell most rarely if ever even attempt a three much less make one. Sure you have a few guys that pop into your head like Embid and Jokic. They really are the unicorns. Khem Birch, Kevon Looney, Mason Plumlee, Jakob Poeltl, Steven Adams, Robert Williams, Mitchell Robinson, Ivica Zubac, Richaun Holmes, Jarrett Allen, Jusuf Nurkić, Clint Capela, Deandre Ayton, Bam Adebayo, and Rudy Gobert were the starting centers for 15 teams last season. That is half of the league. They made a combined 28 3 point shots total. Williams, Adebayo and Looney made up three quarters of the NBA Conference Finalist teams. They made 0 three point shots combined.

  9. There are plenty of NBA centers who can’t shoot from the outside. You can’t use a guy who is regularly an MVP candidate as an example of the typical NBA center. Usually non-elite centers who can’t shoot or defend on the perimeter (or both) are planted on the bench during the playoffs. Regular season big men have a more typical skill set.

  13. There's always a longshot like Tyler Cook sitting on the end of an NBA bench who has no perimeter jumper. Team Blue is made up of longshots who have fought and scrapped to get where they are. Someone will make it eventually.

  15. I don’t think Mizzou is getting an invite. That said, the thing that matters to the Big 10 on the academic and research side is AAU membership. Mizzou has that.

  17. Sooner than later, for a number of factors, the P5s will take BB down the same path as FB. Not sure when the CBS Dance contract expires but that will be the trigger. Other networks will start a bidding war for the tourney and that’s when the bigs will unveil their grand plan for a P5 hoops only national championship. It’s coming. Count on it.

  19. What are we now, 4-5 years from all current power conference schools consolidating into just the Big Ten and SEC? Basically AFC and NFC superconferences created by football at the expense of all other sports and all other universities outside whoever ends up in them. Someone tell me I'm wrong because this feels bleak.

  20. SLU has a 2024 commit from Ashley Miller, a Central Attacking Midfielder, from Fort Zumwalt South High School, and JB Marine. While playing for her dad, Ashley’s club team will soon compete in the USYS President’s Cup National Finals in North Carolina, Her team recently won the President’s Cup Midwest Regionals. Ashley has also been a Missouri Olympic Development Program, Inter Regional player. Honorable Mention All State as a Sophomore, the creative, skilled, pass first Miller, led the area in assists with 29, while also chipping in 12 goals, for the Back to Back Missouri Class 3 State Champions.

  21. The student section is far too large. I posited on MMP that they should investigate the possibility of making the student section flexible in capacity on a game to game basis. 1. Find a method to separate the student section that's moveable. 2. Request a simple ticket registration of name and banner ID online for every game. 3. 48 hours prior to the game announce x number of tickets on sale for 5 dollars. the number x is based on capacity - registrations + a hundred or so potential walk up students. The space behind the band can just permanently be sold for $5 to the general public. That space is utterly useless to the atmosphere. Also that fuoking wedge can be permanently $5 too. I hate that thing, beyond the first 3 or 4 rows it's useless to the student section atmosphere unless it's a big game. 4. Move that barrier based on the estimated capacity. The seats behind this barrier are the ones sold for $5 to the general public. The $5 tickets are not general admission but reserved seating, this ensures students don't just sit behind the barrier. This increases Chaifetz atmosphere on lesser attended games by not allowing students to spread out as they would if they had 1000 total spaces. Students will have to stand and be closer to the people leading chants etc...It would also create the illusion of demand for games that generally don't have the demand. I truly think this is a feasible option and would add a great deal to Chaifetz game day atmosphere.

  22. Maurice Vassel - PF, 6-9, 180 - Kingston, Jamaica (St. Benedict's, NJ) - AAU: Riverside Hawks (Under Armour Association) - Twitter: @maurice_vassel Offers: Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, Fordham, La Salle, St. John's, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers, Texas A&M, TCU, Saint Peter's, Stony Brook. Interest: Temple. Latest News: Vassel received an offer from SLU. (6/28/22) Scouting Report: Vassel is a long, skilled, athletic forward who creates matchup problems. He has good leaping ability and finishes hard in traffic. He's active and versatile on the defensive end. Vassel is originally from Kingston, Jamaica but living in the Bronx and attending St. Benedict's in NJ after also attending Commonwealth Academy in Springfield, MA. -Not much interest I've been able to confirm yet. His Twitter account only has 24 followers and there seems to have been some confusion about the spelling of his last name last year - a lot of sources were giving him two Ls - so information other than offers is sparse.
