I was wondering the same the other day. I hadn't heard anything and appreciate you asking the question.

From the wording of your question it wasn't at all clear to me that you knew he had left. I just thought maybe you had recently ended a tour on an oil rig.😄

Larry Hughes II did what was best for Larry Hughes II and his family supported his decision. He and his family will find somewhere else to go to.

You don't know what the future will bring, therefore can't say it was best for Larry just yet, you can hope it's best but the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Time will tell Old man, time will tell.

I neither have the faintest idea of what is best for Larry Hughes II and his family, nor will I waste any time trying to figure it out. What I am pretty sure of is that Larry Hughes II and his family thought this was the best for him. They may be right or they may be wrong, I really do not care. What is done is done.

I have no idea where Larry will end up.  But I am disappointed he left the team, and his departure has had a negative impact.  After Larry left, and we really don't know why - speculate away -  we lost to Illinois State by 4 points, we lost to Wofford by 3 points, and we lost to Grand Canyon by 1 point.  In those three games our bench scored 6, 8 and 10 points.  With Larry coming off the bench, perhaps we win one, two or all three.  Yes that is speculation on my part.  Not having a shooter on the bench has hurt. Larry is still 4th on the team in three pointers made and has been gone for 7 games.

Old Guy are you saying it’s 50/50?

No, I am saying it is not up to me or to anyone else in this board to say what is best for Larry Hughes II and his family, it is up to them. I can and do wish him all the best, but that is it.

It had to have been tough on Larry Hughes II to be a Billiken.  No doubt most everyone viewed and analyzed him, to some degree, as "the son of Larry Hughes, one of the greatest Billikens of all time," not as "Larry Hughes II."  He never really had a chance as a Billiken to be accepted for who he is as a basketball player.  No doubt he felt like he was constantly being compared to his father, whether that was actually the case or not.  Transferring to another school will give him a chance to stand on his own, to be evaluated for who he truly is.  My guess is that's what's he's hoping for: a chance just to be "Larry Hughes II," not "Larry Hughes, II, the son of Larry Hughes, one of the greatest players in program history."  Every kid deserves that chance.  I hope he gets that chance wherever he ends ups.

While it was hard to see him depart, I don’t think he had any D1 offers out of HS. Travis made him a walk on out of respect for senior. That said, I think he played fairly well for us.

LH2 was certainly better than most walk-ons.

I find it interesting  that he stayed when Schertz came in, but then decided to leave mid season. He didn't seem to be buying into the new system. I dont know if it was because of an off the court issue or difficulty making the adjustment. When he came into a game, he looked like he was playing to Ford's old montra, of make a difference when you get a chance to play, and not Shertz montra of hunt the next great play. He often put up a quick shot.

There was an opportunity for him here, though probably not as a starter.

We now need twice the effort on replacing Swope and Jumerson field goal attempts for next year- unless Jimerson sues the NCAA and they allow him to keep playing as long as the NIL has money and he can still run 35 minutes a game
