Not 100% sure but I think he has a daughter in nursing school still.  Not sure if she has graduated or not but that might buy the school a year or 2 to upgrade the facilities.

It's pretty simple 92, why dont you write the needed check?

Great insight and advice as always Roy. I’d be happy to write a check for around $600k for new state of the art LED lighting for the baseball field, like the ones that were donated last year, but your boyfriend, Chris May, won’t pay to have them installed. Save your time replying, it’s never Mays fault, BoT and Fred….you are going to defend the guy who gives you free shirts and hats, I get it. New Mizzou AD has been on job just a few weeks and announced several of the program’s facilities are not up to his standards, Taylor Field being one of those facilities. Coming up with a master plan and says he wants it done sooner than later. SLU AD has been around for 16 years. Can’t get alumni donated lights installed. No master plan. No plan at all. Guy is just a manager, no vision, no intentions to ever rock the boat. It is what it is at this point.

I might need to take a break from reading this board...

This entire board is filled with whiners...

I thought the whining would stop when Ford was fired, but you all just find something néw to whine about...

If May upgrades the baseball facilities, you all will just start whining about something else like tennis being off campus...

I don't think anyone would be able to make some of the posters on this board happy...

It's getting unbearable...

Goodbye for at least the off season!

Whining about whining. Leave that to the experts like DOC.

During the basketball season when everyone thought we weren't going to fire Ford, I suggested that guys calm down, because the powers that be were going to take care of the situation.  This was met with sneers and calls that we can't wait, the fans needs to rise up and make this happen.  In the end, it was correct that firing Ford was in the works and that a new, very popular coach was on the way.

I have a new, similar, prediction to make about SLU Baseball.  I think that upgrades to the facilities are already in the works.  However, those upgrades are complicated by several factors.  For instance, in the times of Title 9 and equity for all, you cannot upgrade the baseball field without, at the same time, upgrading the softball field.  So, now we're talking about double the cost, double the planning, double the everything.  Also, the changes to the stands that people on this board want would require encroaching on the walk way that allows basketball fans to get to Chaifetz from the Olive Garage.  This means that the entire baseball field would have to be moved 15-20 yards east.  Again, this requires much more of an investment and not simply erecting some stands.  Moving the field a bit east now means that MSD approvals become involved since the area your encroaching on an area that I believe is considered a water run off area.  If the plans for the field involving having to move it east, this also means that the present lighting would no longer work where it is and would have to be moved or replaced.  It this is true, this would explain not allowing lights to be put into the existing standards that will have to come down anyway.  Also, the field hockey facility came up and this may have delayed a baseball/softball project further.

Again, my point is that I believe that baseball/softball upgrades are already in the pipeline.  The athletic department will not and should not keep us apprised of every or any project that is in the planning stage.  Just be patient.

Have you ever heard of the term "strategic messaging?"

Neither has Chris May.

If your assertions are correct a message from the AD could quell discontent.

So no sleep till Brooklyn

I've never gotten a free anything from SLU.   More proof of you lack of knowledge.

Yes - there will and likely should be an upgrade to softball facilities along with baseball facilities... SLU has a similar glaring opportunity to create a notable Mid-Major destination program in softball as there is in baseball.

But given the struggles to support upgrades of any kind to this point, I highly doubt any upgrades would require 'moving entire fields'.  This current leadership group doesn't strike me as one that would put together anything ambitious as that... players were forced to pay for their own meals in the newly minted and highly celebrated Champions Center.

Also - if there were actually facilities projects in motion for one or either of these sports even if on paper, then yes the athletic department absolutely announces that.  To not do so as you mentioned would be... not business savvy.  To put it mildly.

Are there plans out there? Probably. But have there are always "plans" out there and have been for a decade or more. Spearheaded 100% of the time by Hendo.

You can. Baseball got a brand new hitting facility and softball did not. If a donor specifically donates something for baseball, softball is not entitle9 to the same. And vice versa.

There is plenty of space between the baseball field and Olive Compton/walkways. I don't think anyone is expecting any upgrade to extend even to the outer red line below. Mostly just sit in the exact footprint as now, just with real amenities. Hell you could even mix in some dual purpose infrastructure for gameday ops for soccer.

I don't think any upgrades would require the field to be moved. That would be excessive and unnecessary IMO.

Why not? To avoid drumming up interest and/or donations?

This isn't true. Title IX is about equal amount of scholarships. Not equal facilities, etc.

Read this.  From the US Department of Education.

Title IX is about prohibiting gender discrimination in all aspects of educational programs and activities.  For athletics it includes, beyond scholarships and financial assistance, equipment and schedules, scheduling games and practices, travel and daily allowance, coaching, tutors, and locker rooms, fields, courts, or other facilities for practice and competition, medical and training services, housing and dining facilities, publicity and recruitment.

Just another example of AI not quite being there yet...... What "women's sports" arena/venue is on par with The Big House, Bryant Denny, DKR, Happy Valley, et al?

Beep boop bot malfunction update now

I liked it better when those troll farms were interfering in the election instead of message boards

As usual the boat left the dock and you missed it.

Title IX is more than equal scholarships as JMM28 stated.  It has a wide variety of aspects.  Learn something.

Yeah I know it's not only scholarships as an actual SLU fan I remember T-IX incidents we (SLU fans call then situation 1 and 2).

As for facilities, unlike you I'm a thinking human being operating at the top of Bloom's Taxonomy not a second rate Belarusian AI Cut and Paste Troll. In the real world, in the USA, we can see giant football stadiums filled with every modern convenience that seat 90000+ fans.  Ever see a "women's sports" venue like that?  Go ahead use web-crawler not even on the interwebs will you find it.  So in reality we know the assertation is wrong because we have observation and logic to evaluate information not rote cut and paste.

But please keep going after clicking on all the traffic lights

You, as usual, have no idea what you are talking about. Stick to reposting week to month old articles, you loser.

You literally reposted the Google AI (awful) generated response. Leaving out the next paragraph….

However, Title IX also allows schools to separate sports teams by sex, and schools can demonstrate equal opportunity by showing that the percentages of male and female athletes are roughly proportional to the percentages of male and female students enrolled.

again - title ix is about opportunity. Scholarships. That’s it. Schools aren’t going to fund women’s cross country an equal amount as men’s football. But they use that sport to offset the number of scholarships between men/women. Bum.

The powers that be will take care of the situation?!?!?!

We were promised an on campus arena and a top 50 program in 1986. Took over 20 years for the arena and still waiting on the top 50.

Don't worry the powers that will take care of it. Just keep giving them more money. Maybe we'll have another top 25 team in another decade or so.

Every good decision by this AD has been made because fans complained. We'd still have that two faced mascot if you had your way.

Btw who pats themselves on the back for letting someone else take care of it?
