3star_recruit
This isn't football. All you need is 2 players to totally overhaul a basketball defense. You put a strong post defender and an experienced ball hawk at point guard on this team and most of our defensive problems go away. The issue is why wasn't this done in the offseason? You don't need a ton of NIL money to get those players. You need a ton of NIL money to get extra-talented players to cover up the coach's lack of an offensive and defensive philosophy. The player Travis Ford was a basketball thinker on the court. Why does the coach Travis Ford construct a roster that he has to do all the thinking for? ACE
Ford can be a poor coach and our NIL can be lacking making the situation worse - both things can be true. I'm not as worried about the first thing, as it will play itself out; improving the second part is much important to the future of the program. wgstl
The NIL funds or lack thereof is silly to me. The guy just cant coach to make up for lack of talent whenever there is, and struck out or got bad players in the portal. So many A10 teams got "cheaper" players who are having great seasons. The media calls for "Need more money" but its just a cop out that absolutely any coach no matter the program can technically use. Coach Cal has probably said they need more. Here's hoping he has an excellent senior season.

Worked out in the end for Dandridge, but no clue how we didn't get him. No school really wanted him, heck Memphis didn't really want him other than a back up big, yet we still couldn't get him. thunderdan
I love Mike Tomlin's philosophy. Seems like Travis Ford is constantly "running from coaching." https://youtube.com/shorts/MJBIgw-9F1E?si=yCV31EIfe-SubqLH

A ton of returners that: -Led the A10 in hits -#2 in ERA -But #8 in Fielding %. Nauseating to watch mis-spent funds continue to flow into the embarrassing basketball program. Iowa, Kansas State and ‘Northeastern’ all are preseason Top 25 on D1 Baseball, and none should have a better baseball program than SLU… one of the best baseball cities in the US. Hendrickson can’t get help to install lights that have already been donated… well known on the team that he and May don’t exchange Christmas cards. And of course he has been playing like a first team all conference center since conference play has started for Memphis.

Ford was a part of those teams, so naturally he’s a great coach is his mind. And don’t underestimate the influence of having access to a program either. There’s always the chance you get a Majerus type coach that gives 2 sh*ts about local media and removes that access. NIL isn’t the reason this team sucks. It’s the roster constructed by the head coach and lack of any coherent system in place offensively or defensively. But, in Frank’s mind Travis needs NIL to get the next Mashburn and all will be well. Cusumano loves Kentucky and Pitino. It's nauseating, he used to praise Louisville back when Pitino was there. Best night of my life beating UL ranked #2. Retain the Payne. Most places don't pay coaches like we do. I have no idea why Ford is getting paid money like he is. Insane. That's why our program sucks so bad.
