Fordham draws better than that.  DePaul needs to go down to the Horizon League or the OVC

Fordham did manage a whopping 1,437 attendees for their home opener (which they nearly also lost). Unfortunately, when it comes to drawing fans generally, Fordham is a fraction of DePaul's already tepid numbers, averaging 1,135 fans per home game last year compared to DePaul's 4,045.

while of course a depaul boot from the big east with us taking their place would be awesome, but how funny would it be for a second choice scenario to boot depaul and put in loyola?

Yes it is message board fodder, (1% truth) but the Michigan Football message boards are all-in for UM leaving the B10. The most likely destination suggested is the ACC because Michigan brand will elevate the ACC and Clemson, UNC, Florida State and Miami will get B10 type of TV revenues. Possible, but not as likely as UM going to ACC is the Independent path. The SEC would have been a destination until the SEC Commissioner ratted UM out to the B10.

I think the B1G and UM will find a way to kiss and make up, too much money at stake.

Nice catch Bay Area..This is huge for the WCC..   Any word on Grand Canyon???

Saw where Oregon State and Washington State agreed to schedule like 5 or 6 games against MWC schools and the MWC said they will schedule games against the 2 also..

Will the Pac 2 just quit to exist??

Washington State and Oregon State are about to be added to the WCC for 2 years in all sports, including basketball, except for football and baseball.

I believe it was posted earlier that WSU and OSU will be playing football, partially, in the Mountain West.  The 12 MW teams will all play either WSU or OSU, but the games won't count in the MW standings.

Right now the two schools are retaining the rights and war chest from the Pac 12. (It is under appeal, of course.)  But no way the power brokers allow the morphed Pac 2 / WCC / MWC keep the same status that the Pac 12 currently has.

Yeah I'm sure UM fans are salty at the B10 but they're coach put the conference in a bind. Serving the punishment helped to deminish the outcry for cheating.

They'd be crazy to join the ACC. FSU was already looking at an exit and Clemson is probably considering it too.

Look for the next CFP negotiations to make more changes. Next year (and maybe the year after) it's 12 teams with the 6 highest rated conference champions getting a bid.  No way the expanded SEC and B10 agree to that deal going forward.

Chip Kelly recently advocated for CFB to be separate and other sports maintain their regional conferences.

The WCC wants to get from 9 to 12 teams, is about to reach 11 for 2 years with the additions of Wash. State and Oregon State. The expansion candidates mentioned are SeattleU (a former WCC member and Jesuit school), Denver, and Grand Canyon in Phoenix. The PAC 2 (Wash. State and Oregon State) have 2 years to reestablish the PAC, in the meantime have entered into a Football scheduling agreement with the Mountain West to each play 7 Mountain West schools (and each other) in Football. Both have agreements to continue playing their instate football rival, Washington and Oregon, respectively.

So it looks like today might be the beginning of the end of the ACC. Florida State BoT meeting this morning where it is expected they will vote to sue to leave the ACC.

Opening up a spot for SLU to the ACC. May's 4D chess plan all along.

Wonder if SMU is going to want their $200mil back after FSU and maybe others bolt?

-I read an article on CBSSports about this but it didn't indicate they have been invited to join another conference, I like FL ST but this could be the dog catching the car, what does it do with it?

FSU board voted unanimously to challenge ACC Grant of Rights and $130mil exit fee in court.

SLU could move in here joining former CUSA conference mate SMU.  We've proven we can compete with ACC teams for a half.

They couldn’t be dumb enough to leave without a landing spot in a new conference, could they?

They could absolutely be that dumb. It's already dumb of them to do this with the changes to the FBS playoff coming next year and ongoing. They're an also-ran in the SEC, B10 or B12; watch for them to end up like TX A&M or Notre Dame. They have dreams of being Georgia or Alabama; they aren't.

I think FSU can compete in the best conferences.  FSU has history, fan support and they're in a football recruiting hot bed.

I just don't know who would take them right now? Maybe SEC. The TV contract is set they will push for renegotiation if there's to be a 9th conference game added.  But everyone's broke right now.

We're moving to SEC and B10 being the top by a longshot and if the other conferences cause problems in the CFP negotiations then I could see a break away.

Why would they agree to auto bids for MWC etc? When the Mountain West champion might be on par with the 4th or 5th best SEC team?

From what I can tell, the SEC, B12 and the B1G are not interested because in all cases the projected revenue does not increase, spread among the additional team, get them more money per school than they get now, but in fact less. I guess they are just trying to get the rights agreement thrown out so that in the future they could leave without the huge financial impact, without actually changing conferences. Of course, if they are successful, they allow other schools to leave with consequences as well. Also, if at any time the SEC, B12, B1G figures out they make more money with them all bets are off. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I know it's sarcastic but the ACC isn't likely to add non-football schools IMO. They are going to have to make a play to remain a football power if FSU leaves. The Big East is the only conference SLU can look at upgrading to, and VCU and Dayton are way ahead of us in fan support, TV eyeballs, and competent play. SLU just hasn't been good enough and our attendance is falling off a cliff. We need a president and AD with more demands to win to move up in conference.

The last time we moved conferences we downgraded(which was necessary since all the basketball powers split and left us hanging in CUSA, and CUSA didn't want our non-football dept anyway at that point) .. and it's likely that our next conference move would be another downgrade unless we seriously improve the program.

The Beast is our best option. The issue is are we their best option?

Not even close, unfortunately. Any Big East addition needs to bring a lot to the table. TV market, fans who travel, and ability to bring conference NCAA credits. We have 1 of those 3 things at the moment.
