Serious question. Time to give up on Gordon and Ramey? Just don't want to waste time.

We already knew this was going to happen. There's a reason Torrence Watson was the priority recruit in this class from day one. He is the most realistic target of the trio. We'll be going up against Top 50 programs for his services, not top 10 programs.

Tim Finke had a monster summer so he's out of reach too. He's being courted by the likes of Ohio State now. The staff has already moved on to evaluating 6'5 Drew Peterson, a skinny scoring guard from suburban Chicago.

That's an unfortunate name. Especially for someone from suburban Chicago.

Regardless, I'll add him to the interest list for 2018.

Ohio State was out to evaluate Gordon this week. KU is still his latest offer (9 total), but I'm sure more are on the way.

Marquette was out to see Ramey this week. Iowa recently offered. He's also at 9 offers.

Finke is now being called a top-25 player by some recruiting sources. Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Virginia have all been out to see him recently.

It's looking like we need to get some more 2018 offers out.

Just for the record, there isn't a single player on the rosters of Dayton, VCU, Rhode Island or Davidson that received an offer from those schools prior to their sophomore season. Offers that early almost never materialize into commitments at the A -10 level. The 2018 kids who we have a realistic shot at haven't been offered. Many of them haven't even emerged as A-10 level prospects yet.

So why bother offering a rising sophomore at all when the chances of success are so low? As a poster mentioned in another thread, coaches aren't good at math.

Updates on the 2018 class:

As stated above, SLU offered Kevin Easley on his unofficial visit a few weeks ago. Since then, New Mexico State (and/or possibly New Mexico) offered. Easley is a big-time recruit and SLU is heavily involved at this stage.

Tim Finke will run with the St. Louis Eagles in 2016. Was playing AAU ball with the Illinois Irish before. Indiana came to visit him recently, and he was out to see Ohio State earlier this month. Like Easley, Finke is a big-time recruit and SLU is heavily involved.

Carte'Are Gordon went out to Kansas this month for their Late Night at the Phog event to kick off the basketball season. KU is also his most recent offer. Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, K-State, SLU, Vanderbilt, and Mizzou have all been in touch in some capacity over the past six weeks.

Courtney Ramey visited KU along with Gordon and also went out to K-State. Vandy, Marquette, and SLU have all dropped in to see him in the past month.

Torrence Watson also went out to K-State for a visit after visiting Mizzou and Creighton. Vandy is now in the mix, as well.

Antwaan Cushingberry visited Northern Kentucky. He's the small (5-8) PG on the loaded Lawrence North team with Kevin Easley, Ra Kpedi, and Dexter Shouse. He's got a wide range of interested schools, but no offers quite yet.

Jericole Hellems played at the Basketball Movement showcase in Nixa and showed well, drawing some Twitter hype. Still can't find many schools listed as showing interest yet, though.

Gavin Pinkley visited Mizzou with Torrence Watson.

Here's one of the kids who was at the game last night:

Brennan Schofield: F, 6-8, 200, Fishers, IN (Hamilton Southeastern)Offers: IUPUI, St. Francis-PA. Interest: SLU, Indiana, Purdue, Iowa, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Illinois State, Toledo, Central Michigan, Valpo, Belmont. Latest News: Schofield attended the SLU-Hartford game while at SLU on an unofficial visit. Other recent visits include Indiana and Central Michigan. Scouting Report: Schofield is a stretch PF known for his shooting ability, but shows a mature, complete game for his age. He runs the floor and handles the ball well, passes, fights for rebounds, blocks shots, and finishes in traffic. Twitter: @bschofield44

I like the video on him a lot. Really impressive skill set for his age and size.

seems slow enough and ugly enough to play for SLU. looks to be a solid 6'6". i'm interested if indiana offers.

Seriously all these "stretch 4s" seem so much better in theory... Can we recruit one shot-blocker please

He's listed at 6-8 now; is probably more like 6-6 in most video out there. Has a bigger frame than some of our current players already.

Some of the available on this kid shows some sweet slow-mo blocks.

In all seriousness, he looks like more than a typical stretch-4 stiff. This is a kid we should offer.

Schofield is Zach Gunn's high school teammate. He was an end of the bench player last year but has made strides in the weight room over the summer. Should be a key member of the rotation. Hopefully Schofield can develop into enough of an offensive threat to take some heat off of his teammate. Gunn was a marked man last year.
