DeSmetBilliken
But why do we suppose that the time spent on wrapping up the 2013 class poses any hindrance to the coaching staff's attention to 2014 recruits? We pay attention for fun, bur for them it's a 50-hour-per-week (or whatever) job. I can't say for certain that there is definitely a hindrance to our recruiting of the 2014 class. Still, it's not difficult to understand that if we've satisfactorily completed the 2013 class, it allows the staff to use the time for something else. We have only a certain number of coaches, and if we can get the last commit for 2013, it means that as long as there aren't any unexpected roster changes, we no longer have to allocate time for recruiting that class. It could mean that we can use the time for something else. More time spent focusing on 2013 and beyond can only be a positive.

Pistol
If I am following the verbalcommits grid correctly, Pitt is now full. I think they only had one schollie to give prior to the addition of Kane... and Abell remains our top target IMO. The grid shows Kane and still has a scholarship to give listed. Uchebo is on there, too. Are they missing someone else? http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/pittsburgh

Are they missing someone else? http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/pittsburgh If you count the players in the grid, I came up with 13. I may be reading it wrong. I just don't think they updated their numbers at the top of each class.
Pistol
Update for the last spot. I'll update this post throughout the day, as information comes in. Offers: Hakim Saintil, PG: 5-11, 170, Roselle Catholic HS, Roselle, NJ. Offers: SLU and Fairfield. Possible offers: St. Bonaventure, Rutgers, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Cincinnati, and SMU. Prep school a possibility. Latest (5/6): Not much progress on a decision, but he visited St. Bonaventure over the weekend. Plenty of retweets from Bona fans. Also, yesterday a Tweet to a friend indicated that he's still uncertain whether he'll sign or go to a prep school. Previous: Slow to make a decision between prep school or a college. His AAU team has been playing in weekend tournaments, and playing well. He hit a clutch 3 to tie, followed by a steal and layup to win one of these tournaments a couple weekends ago. Jordan Strawberry, PG: 6-1, 170, Mater Dei HS, Santa Ana, CA. Offers: SLU, UC-Riverside, and at least 2 others (UNCW likely). Claims interest from Arizona, Virginia Tech, Gonzaga, California, and Florida State. Latest (5/2): This list came out on 5/1 and Strawberry's name and picture is in it. Interestingly, Onwuasor and Lancona are not mentioned. He also told a buddy on Twitter that his visit "out there" went well and he's trying to make his decision. Previous: Visit to SLU (and dad) went very well. Since then, UNC-Wilmington has gotten in the mix and has one scholarship left to give after Addison Spruill, a shooting guard from Brevard CC, committed yesterday, 4/30. No confirmation on an offer from UNCW but it seems likely they've made one. He seems to be SLU's backup plan to Randy Onwuasor, but SLU seems like his best opportunity. Randy Onwuasor, PG: 6-3, 190, Inglewood HS, Inglewood, CA. Top Choices: SLU, Miami-Ohio, and Pitt. Other offers: UC-Irvine and Cal State-Fullerton. Interest from Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Seton Hall, Florida State, Arkansas, UNLV, Tulane, New Mexico State, and Utah. Latest (5/9): Tennessee and Tennessee Tech are suddenly in the mix. A TTU assistant apparently visited, and he now says he plans to visit Knoxville soon. No word on offers from either. What looked like a SLU-Miami race has now opened back up. It's really hard to tell if the delay and other schools getting involved are the result of SLU prioritizing other players or Onwuasor testing the waters more. Previous: Onwuasor has visited SLU and Miami-Ohio. SLU and Miami have both made in-home visits. He said to Ben Weixlmann that his final three choices are SLU, Miami, and Pitt. He will be playing in the Nike Global Challenge in DC in July. He has been retweeting SLU fans a lot, but the last two are about Tennessee and Tennessee Tech. Others: Achraf Yacoubou, SG: 6-4, 210, Villanova. Transfer eligible as junior in 2014-2015. Interested in SLU, Pitt, and Georgia Tech. Latest (5/9): He will be visiting Pitt on May 14th. According to pantherlair.com writer Matthew Steinbrink, Pitt is focused on Yacoubou, Sheldon Jeter (if he decides to transfer), and DeAndre Kane. Kane just made it official, so Pitt has one scholarship to give. Previous: Two Tweets from sportswriters on Friday, 5/3 said that Yacoubou visited SLU and will be visiting Pitt and Georgia Tech next. UNLV and Miami are out of contention. Remy Abell, SG: 6-4, 201, Indiana. Transfer eligible as junior in 2014-2015. Interested in SLU, Xavier, and St. Mary's. Latest (5/9): Abell will be visiting Xavier on Friday, SLU on Monday, and St. Mary's after SLU before making his decision, which he wants to make "within a week or so." He reportedly has an offer from VCU but has not listed them as a finalist. He was also contacted by Butler coach Brad Stevens but said the program was not the right fit for him. Previous: The sophomore averaged 10.7 MPG and 3.5 PPG in his two-year IU career (12.0 and 4.0 this past season). He's transfering for more minutes and because he lost his best friend on the team - Cody Zeller - to the NBA. He's a Louisville native, and of the three schools on his list, only Xavier recruited him in high school. Paul Jesperson, SG: 6-6, 197, Virginia. Transfer eligible as junior in 2014-2015. Interest from SLU, Northern Iowa, USC, Nebraska, and Florida. Latest (5/9): Jesperson visited SLU this week and is heading to USC today. Manning (Virginia native) and Barnett (Wisconsin native) were his hosts. Pappy's was part of the itinerary. Previous: Decided to transfer despite starting 33 of 35 games, likely because two transfers become eligible this season and he stood to lose minutes. I'm not sure how SLU is on his radar, but he did play for Brad Soderberg's brother Kurt in high school - Merrill, Wisconsin, where he was the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state. One writer says the school he's hearing most in connection with Jesperson's name is Nebraska. Jesperson recently tweeted back and forth with a Northern Iowa player. Brett Jolly, PF-C: 6-10, Carroll HS, Southlake, TX. Offers: Weber State. Interest from SLU, Air Force, Belmont, Bucknell, Lehigh, Furman, North Texas, Penn, Tulsa, Sam Houston State, and Wichita State. Latest (5/6): After visiting SLU, he made a visit to the Air Force Academy. He seemed to like both places a lot. But it isn't clear that any offers are coming in; what's clear is he's a project and the back-up plan at most places that have shown interest. After the Lancona signing, Jolly can't possibly be a SLU target anymore.

I just don't think they updated their numbers at the top of each class. Yeah, that looks to be the case. I can't find scholarships mentioned in any of the articles about Kane. I'd just like to see it confirmed.

cheeseman
As for RO, I think it's too bad if we don't get him, because he said he loved to play D. Bet not many kids speak the truth on that subject, but he sounded sincere. The 4 years, the height, also were good. But if he's tripping down to Knoxville, I'm guessing we're pretty much toast. And another thing I've heard from Vol fans down here in Dixie is either Cuonzo wins this year or he's done. All that I've talked to loved Pearl and saw nothing wrong with his little white lie. They'd take him back in a NY minute. Hey, but if he goes there, Yahoo stated today that TN was the best state to retire in. Maybe that's playing into his decision. Note to WP Jim: You might want to look into becoming a Vol resident. Are you sure that was not Reggie that said that.
Pistol
If we end up signing that stiff, I'm going to find you and punch you in the fuoking butt. I'm 99.9% certain he's not a factor in any way, unless he wanted to come to SLU to walk on. We got our bigs, we need a guard, we have one spot. I only keep him on the list because he visited this spring.
