  2. I'm sick of the negativity. Look at Jimerson. He's not even the best player on the team. We have two big time stars and two of the top scorers in the NCAA coming back next season. We have the best big man in the A10. We have a couple awesome two way players in Pickett and Thatch. We have the human highlight film Hargrove. We have another sniper in Sincere Parker working into the rotation. Parker scored the MOST POINTS in JUCO last season and he won't start for us. We have two nice freshman in Thames and Kramer hungry to push for PT. We have Larry Legend JR walking on!!! Most talented walk on since Jeff Leuchtefeld. We need 2 guards who can handle the ball and compete for playing time with the freshman. We need a serviceable backup big, maybe 2. You think Ford isn't going to bring in impact transfers? What year hasn't he done this? This is a team that will still contend for the A10 championship and make the NCAA tournament. We have 6 guys and counting all from the STL. The city will be behind this team. Forget about all the rest of the BS. When we win, which we will, all that will take care of itself.

  3. I’m not as worried about things like this as some of you. Look at the number of high recruits that don’t work out. Now add the pressure of the money. Some of these young athletes will fail under this pressure. Can you imagine how easy it will be to loose a locker room when the kids that aren’t being paid as much perform better? Some of these teams will implode. I think it will take a couple years to level out. But I don’t think it will be the end of good college hoops.

  4. I don’t think anyone ever targeted the Big East as an ‘easier’ path to the dance. It was more about being in a conference with major, non-football playing, private institutions with some religious foundation in the background. Hell, we could be the real butt wipes in there playing that competition —- outside of DePaul and Butler.

  5. Back in the early Majerus years, I always admired how Paulie Biancardi looked with those double breasted suits. He looked good.

  7. Fun Facts about SLU's former MCC counterparts who advanced beyond SLU and ended up in the Big East... Marquette: Haven't won an NCAA tournament game since 2013 Xavier: Haven't made the NCAA tournament since 2018 Butler: Haven't made the NCAA tournament since 2018 Getting into the Big East would not make SLU's path to the NCAA tournament any easier.

  8. Private schools with half the enrollment, but no football program NILs can compete. 90% of that money at a place like Tennessee is going to go to football where donors are desperate for a return to the glory days.

  9. There is a prevailing desire for a Stretch 4 on this board or at least a vocal group. I understand the desire we saw it work under Majerus. It makes sense if you have a good rebounder and/or strong rebounding guys and guys that can get to the hoop off the dribble you clear out space by having a big man on the perimeter. However, I'm not sure that jives with any system I've seen Ford run. He's recruited a few that never really saw the floor and they left. Am I wrong here? I think a stretch 4 would be good to clear space for Okoro inside and Perkins, Thatch, TJ to drive the lane. I'm just not convinced it fits in Ford's offensive scheme. I think Askew would tear up the A10 he really came on strong at the end of last season in the best conference in the land. I think Ramey would be even better. Both would be a dream.

  10. I wouldn't put him as the best, but I always was a big fan of Charles Newberry, think he was under appreciated on those NIT teams

  11. Kwamain was my favorite Billiken of all time, until the day I saw Yuri play. I suspected he'd be special and if he had another year (specifically this upcoming one) by god this wouldn't even be a conversation anymore - except maybe for some of you old heads that like to die by anything nostalgic. He's the best passer in the country, and that was proven last year. Not only with his assists total or average but with the level of difficulty in those passes. 19 in one game speaks volumes, and he had 14 points that game too. He averaged over 11 points per game to go with >4 rebounds and 1.9 steals, too, which speaks to his great defense. KM had different circumstances. Better surrounding cast than Yuri had last year. Better coach (by a lot, and that's not a slight at Ford). No global pandemic wiping out 90% of the team and like half the season. Best years were when he was 22 and 23 years old...aka Yuri's next two years.

  12. Andrew Carr (Delaware) is on campus today. Stretch forward, rapidly developing. Cancelled his Wichita State visit to come here. Davidson and Virginia Tech were thought to be the leaders, with VCU also in the mix. More of a 4 to line up with Okoro but could also play backup as a 5 when needed. Would give us some frontcourt versatility, even if we still need some depth there.

  14. No info that I can tell. I think all the assistant coaches were let go, no word on if any of Coach Tillett’s former assistants came with her. Looks like it was just coach and the old Graduate Assistant Hailey Deistelkamp.

  15. coach, i have grown to like your billikens.com participation, but the last few days you sound more and more like the street agents so many of us detest. this response has a tone that is patronizing and sarcastic and it seems like you condone all that has went on with this whole collins clustermess. crymdg has provided the context where ford details the gray area action by unethical programs that seems to fit this whole thing. and your comment is "sounds good"? what does that mean? why do you even bother to respond if that is your comment? look i think most of us dont blame yuri for the end result. my gosh it's likely more money then he ever imagined if the rumored figure is correct. our real issue is the whole way it was handled and the disrespect and non courtesy collins showed to coach ford, saint louis university, the rest of the coaching staff, the great fans of the billikens. it was not the way to handle this and all concerned deserved better than that. imo, it is unfixable. at this point collins should probably just go ahead and head to tennessee and not look back. we as billiken fans are somewhat used to being treated as such so we will all survive. but for him to expect a ticker tape parade if he indeed does change his mind for some ungodly reason (that reason might have a good deal of zeroes attached) well it isnt going to happen imo. to the rest of the billiken fandom. help a common mbm out. why in the world do these young players think it is needed to publish their intent on twitter, or instagram or wherever for all the world to see? why dont they just transact the "negotiations" privately and when it is a definite ending, then at that point if you want to publish your little goodbye letter heartlessly explaining your decision and result and hollow thanks and apology for all everyone did for you? instead all this venom that has been heaped upon the player surely is understood. the player brought it on himself. not that it wouldnt have come out later, but you wouldnt have subjected yourself to all that leading up to the end. maybe that was the intent? generate enough bad blood you have more of a reason to turn and run? dont matter you got the money. that's all that mattered right?
