juniorbill76
Brief summary: Coach doesn't do traditional drills like running, backboard slap, etc. Instead he uses game play activities in practice for conditioning. Lots of up and down the court, but playing basketball. Indications are the players prefer it and it works; GibJim said he's in his best shape. Is it really all that different than what most other coaches are doing these days?
HoosierPal
Something to look for Friday and try to figure out the rotation. Who are the 7, 8 who have separated from the rest.

My guess is Gibby, Robbie, Swope, Anya and Johnson are the starters. bench rotation: Thames, Casey, Larry and Dotzler... I think Dotzler could be a factor, perhaps taking some minutes from LH. At minimum, I think he is probably "separating" from the freshmen guards.
slu72
It makes a lot of sense what does a player gain in skills by doing sprints? Doing sprints with a ball in play makes more sense.
Dr. Holly Hills
Reading that article reminded me that one of Ford’s excuses after one (of the many) losses last season was that the team “wasn’t in shape” like a month into the season. he was something else… NextYearBill

My guess is we’ll see him in a broadcast booth somewhere. Zink and willie

And a culture that rewards the extra work. billikenfan05

If it isn't, I don't think it's anything deeper than the fact that he failed spectacularly the last two seasons of his tenure here. 3. Really going out on a limb there. He is sitting on a boatload of $, maybe he let the phone off the hook. Problem is, his value to a team is no longer required. He's a recruiter, nothing else. Anyway, my guess is Travis ends up doing TV analyst work.

They really haven't used Johnson at all for publicity or anything and I've heard staff is very high on Dotzler. My guess is Avila, Swope, Gibby, Anya, and Thames/Dotzler are starting. Thames/Dotzler, Hughes/Johnson and Casey/Brockhoff would be your primary rotation pieces. Guessing only two of Hughes/Johnson and Casey/Brockhoff will see regular minutes. Strangly enough, I was working out at the Olivette Anytime Fitness a few weeks ago and saw someone I thought was Ford get out of a range rover in front of the gym. He walked in front of the gym and into a permitting office next door. When I left I walked around to the back of the car and it had a temp plate with "T Ford" written vertically on the side. almaman

Wasn't Chris Mack just content walking the beach in Venice, Florida for a couple seasons before he got call from Charleston (a low pressure job). I am sure he got calls from P6 schools that put a lot more $ on the table than Charleston. You never know what's in someones head.
