Bobby Metzinger
After a promising start Hitler got blown out in the Russian Invitational, the Great Sahara Desert Shootout, and finally the Continental Euro Classic. Guy couldn't coach a D3 team. He did have more brown shirts than red shirts, that's gotta hurt your recruiting.
bonwich
Yeah, but he'd be a slam dunk for that recruit Go(o)dwin.
HoosierPal
Valpo promoted Assist Lottich to HC. Good move, but I thought they might give it to Gore. Now, will Peters stay or go to Vandy.
ACE
My sources say now (and then ) that we were the other team. I refer you back to the the "What happened " thread...post #150...the timeline ...and particularly Mar 25 ..the key date. I said on a number of occasions it was Drew's job to turn down...and he did. I think our actual first choice was Stallings but he was lukewarm to us. Well at least he didn't string us along.. In the end , it worked out pretty well ...for everyone...Everybody got a coach who really wanted to be at the school that took them....TCU, Pitt. Vandy, SLU . Well it worked out for almost everybody....not so great for Valpo (no coach and they have to go fishing now)...bbtds ...who seemed to take great pleasure as he reported to Valpo fans the Billiken board was " melting down" and that we were "dilutional" (sic) ... and finally, volfan who guaranteed not 1 but 2 assistant coaches that would be HC at SLU.... Co- Head Coaches. Bottomline...I think we got the best HC we could get...who is right for the program and who will turn us around quickly...We have already turned the corner. Don't forget DoctorB's inside sources that seemed to indicate that the delay in the official Ford announcement was because we were going in a different direction. JMM28
Otzelberger is in the mix at South Dakota State to replace Scott Nagy. He must not have been a hot name after all. He reportedly interviewed for Milwaukee as well, but LaVall Jordan got that job.

He reportedly interviewed for Milwaukee as well, but LaVall Jordan got that job. Maybe not. It appears everyone wanted TJ at UWM but was vetoed by one person (kind of like Biondi vetoing Gregory in 2002). Per Deadspin "The search for a new coach seems to have been a disaster as well. The school hired Michigan assistant LaVall Jordan, but according to a report both Braun and the search committee wanted to hire Iowa State assistant TJ Otzelberger—and told Otzelberger the job was his—but were overruled at the last minute by UW-Milwaukee chancellor Mark Mone." Looks like the 17 year PBP man left cause he was fed up with the crap from the UWM admin and posted his resignation on Instagram. Otzelberger would have seemed to be a great fit and hire for Milwaukee. Jordan isn't a bad hire, but I think Otzelberger would have been a slightly better fit due to being from there and maybe having more connections. DeSmetBilliken
Who can blame him, he spent 10 years at Texas Tech as an assistant - his probable dream job. Also, it's a much better fit. Beard has spent close to his entire career in Texas or in states bordering Texas. Even more importantly, his kids still live in Texas. Finally, Tech supposedly offered him more money.
