STL Hoops Insider
That's a terrible attitude to have. He's not signed to Mizzou, he's committed to Mizzou. We still have a chance to land him in 2018. 3 months ago Pickett, Tilmon, Michael Porter, Jontay Porter, and Blake Harris were all committed to schools other than Missouri. Things change. It is not about attitude coach, its about other 2018 recruits that are out there such as Watson, and the guys they have been offered on the East coast. Looking at Pistols 2018 recruiting list there are good players not-committed so I do not see coach Ford spending any more time on a guy he already spoke with and possibly the outcome was it was not a good match. I hope the young man finds something that works for him like and I hope he has a nice career with MU that is so good that we wished he would have signed with SLU. I am confused by this. Are you saying we should discuss Pickett on this board because that will somehow make him question his commitment? Or are you saying that Pickett is so good we should really be concerned about him over the tons of other uncommitted 2018 kids that are higher ranked than him? He's verbally committed to Mizzou. He was discussed on here before and general thought was he would be solid pickup but there is plenty of talent in 2018 class that it wouldn't be a big deal either way. If he reopens commitment, he can be brought back up then.

I think Pickett will be ok wherever he lands. Good kid. I wish him the best. I do recall reading posts about wanting Tilmon while he was under commitment to Illinois. I guess that was different tho. STL Hoops Insider
If you want a kid, you still recruit him until he's signed. A kid committing elsewhere, in particular, a local kid shouldn't be quote "dead to us." Teenagers change their mund. Do you think people aren't recruiting Gordon and Thatch everyday? Good hearing from you coach, my feelings is to stay away from the young people when they have made a commitment. These players have some much on their minds and they are only 16, 17 or 18 years old. School and life are hard enough and when the players speak some say they like to commit to get all of the calls behind them so they can concentrate. When it comes to a coach leaving I think it is okay to ask the kids how they feel about it and would they be interested? I trust your insight coach what is your opinion on the continued recruiting on guys that have committed?

Those players committed to Mizzou after a coaching change. After a coaching change, many commits chose to move on. No surprise there. One of the main reasons kids verbal is so coaches will leave them alone. Doesn't work across the board but most coaches get the message. Bills_06
I feel like I am taking crazy pills. This is a message board for fans and we are getting called out for our attitude on recruiting kids? We don't recruit kids. Ford talked to Pickett and sounds like he didn't even leave with a scholarship offer so clearly it wasn't a match. Why concern ourselves over Pickett, who should be a decent college player, when there are plenty of uncommitted 2018 kids that will be just as good if not better. And for Tilmon, the speculation was that Groce would be fired and kids decide to leave after that. There isn't speculation on Martin being fired. Taj79
Why Pickett and Tilmon won't see the court together in 2018: 1) Will Tilmon be a one-and-done? 2) Will Picket actually honor his commitment in 2018? 3) Will Tilmon be academically eligible? 4) Will Pickett be academically eligible? Like a car with four tires, these are four questions that can all go flat and spell doom for the road trip. I don't purport to have any knowledge on any of their answers, just a MBM waiting to see how it all plays out. I, too, am naïve enough to believe that once a kid commits, of signs a LOI, he is off the table and should be considered long gone to the program he selected. Unless he announces he is reopening his recruitment for whatever reason --- new coach, blows up big, has a change of heart. And I recognize most won't play that way but that's me. Unrelated to your post but a theme in a few posts now, why do people think Pickett has academic issues? Nobody ever speculated that he had issues prior to this announcement and the decision to go to prep school for a year seems almost certainly to be a result of having no quality 2017 offers but mizzou having a spot and offer for 2018. Academics have nothing to do with it.
