GDT Bot Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Steve is going to try something different this year and have a GDT automatically generate at midnight on game day. The GDT Bot account will only start GDT Topics. What this will let me do is have the GDT thread links automatically be posted to the main page of Billikens.com. This topic will be a test. If things work, a link should appear on http://www.stlouisbasketball.com Quote

Which computer programmers have been doing forever by writing scripts in their computer language of choice. Now regular folk can just ask computers to run scripts by using human language instead of computer language. almaman 1 Quote

I think we lose a little of the charm with a "bot" making the GDT. However, it lets me put the GDT link automatically on the front page of Billikens.com, which I hope drives more traffic to the thread. Quote

Even as much as they improve computers, the human edge in sheer stupidity does not look like it can ever be overtaken CenHudDude 1 Quote

You must remember that what is crass stupidity for some people may be a revelation to other people. Just check what the candidates are saying in the current electoral campaign if you do not understand this concept. Another factor that may be important is that without "stupid" posts, the board will have a very unilateral point of view that will result in a marked overall decrease in the number of posts. If you allow only one point of view, with nothing "stupid" allowed, there is really no need to post much of anything. Quote

Before you know it the AI will make a picture Easy Ed Macauley look like an Asian grandmother. Quote

White Pelican Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I'll be at the game but wanted to get in on this historic bot-infused GDT. I never post during a home game unless maybe there is someone stuck on an oil rig and just begging for some news. Quote
Aquinas Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Well I'm in Houston today... that's pretty close to being stuck on an oil rig. Go Bills. Quote

Don't really care which of these two wins. Not enough to keep me home from a Billikens basketball game, even if it is an exhibition against Maryville. CenHudDude 1 Quote

White Pelican Posted October 25 Posted October 25 "Pulling for the both to lose." Ha, kinda my feeling. I knew it was unlikely, but I wanted Cleveland and San Diego. And didn't care who won. Quote
