  1. This. While waiting for a table at field house last night I told my wife I needed to open up a sports bar around campus. she told me I wasn’t allowed to open up a sports bar. This morning I filed for divorce.

  2. Humphreys is an opportunity zone? That is interesting. Always was a good opportunity zone when I was at SLU..heyo. It is unfortunate that the dbag who bought it will probably wind up making a pretty penny too. Hopefully this would speed up any sort of development that might take place on that corner because, if I understand correctly, 2019 is the year that you capitalize on this 100% and it goes down from there?

  5. He's saying that the site of this game is pretty far from FSU's campus, so even though it's in the same state, it's not as much of a home game as you'd think.

  8. Can we talk about French’s fastbreak dunk the other night? Probably the most ferocious dunk I’ve ever seen from a Billiken

  9. Great analysis. I disagree slightly about Hargrove tho. I wouldn't read to much into his BBE stats. That was his first year playing AAU at an elite level. The focus was on Liddell, Moody and Harmon. Okoro and McKinney after that. I give Hargrove a slight edge over Perkins heading into next year. Ford values D over offense at this point and Hargrove is more physical than Perkins. Will be a great battle to watch in practice lol.

  10. Polk suffered a serious knee injury in HS, as I recall. At one point he was supposed to be a top 100 player. Also, when Vashon won State he scored over 30 Pts in the final. Supposedly a sniper from beyond the arc. It never came to fruition here for him. I think he was the player that was responsible for the saying SLU, where shooters come to die.

  11. I was going to suggest pressing after a made free throw and then realized how silly that was...

  13. -I am a big fan of changing defenses out of timeout, even if just for one or two possessions

  14. Polk also made the mistake of choosing a program that wasn't a good fit. He needed to go somewhere he could run, not a place where defense was preached first, second, and third, and a screen-and-shoot motion offense was run at the other end. It was frustrating watching him blaze down the court only to slow up, circle back, and get into the offense. I don't know what happened to his shot. Maybe part of it was just that he was being forced to play at a speed and style that didn't suit him.

  15. What you saw on Wednesday was a pragmatic basketball coach doing what was necessary to save our season. If we don't use our superior athletes to press them full court, we were going to lose that basketball game. At least now we still have a puncher's chance going into the Florida State game. But losing to NC Central at home? I don't think our kids would have been able to bounce back from that. I don't think pressing is part of our core game plan going forward.

  16. Let me clarify one point... I don't view the press as a way to improve our defense, which is already outstanding - it's a way to try to generate more offense in transition. I'm afraid finding consistent offense in the half court is going to be a struggle all season. When you sub in Thatch and Foreman, that would be a good time to put on the press.

  18. I agree with this. The NCAA is full of coaches who would rather be stubborn and lose running their system. Ford seems to be the kind of coach who is willing to change things up in a game or middle of the season to accentuate the strengths of the team. It is a different style and both have their positives and negatives, but I do think Ford's style is more appealing to recruits.
