Look, I have a son who is 21 years old, and, yes, he is still a kid.  Kids do stupid stuff and if the worst thing you do as a kid is try to defend your father against people criticizing him, that's not so bad.  I'm willing to bet all of us did worse stuff between the ages of 15 and 23.  Please remember that during this whole discussion.  This is a kid!!

This entire situation is getting out of control.  I have pretty much said this already, but Ford should probably be let go after the season, and SLU should probably be looking for a replacement as we speak.  I also believe that not only should this happen, but that it is happening.  The big donors who pull the strings behind the scenes at SLU have money to make those donations because they are intelligent.  Trust that these smart folks see the same things we do and have the same desires and expectations for our program that we do.

This whole campaign against Ford is very much overkill and unnecessary trolling of a guy who really, really wanted to succeed here at SLU.  For several reasons, many of which are his own shortcomings, it did not work out.  The fact that he failed to raise our program up to the level we wanted is not reason to constantly bash the guy.  Give it a rest.  Every comment he makes is over analyzed and hammered on.  Every loss is treated as if its reason to tar and feather him.  Is it impossible for guys on this board to just let this play out gracefully, not continually embarrass Coach Ford and themselves, and just wait for the next coach?

First time on the Internet?

You seem like a really nice person. But, no. What you want will never happen. We'll over analyze, speculate and criticize the program and particularly the coach until we start winning for real.

Nobody is messing with the kid. On 9/11, I was 22 years old, Platoon Leader of 3 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) on the border of Iraq. Wonder if I woulda shot one would ya have cut me some slack?  So keep infantilizing your boys lemme know how that works out for ya./rant over

Pretty sure Shane is even older than that; but no, a 21 year old is an adult. I've been 21. 21 year olds can be drafted, vote, drink, drive, be sentenced to jail, you name it. Give me a break. 60 year olds do stupid stuff too. We are all only human. We've all done stupid stuff we regret. Shane didn't do anything illegal; he did something dumb and got his just desserts for it. If we all get our 15 seconds of fame he wasted his.

I've been watching hoops for over 30 years and this team is not good. Being not good is not a guarantee for a coach to get fired and particularly at a program like SLU. Jim Crews should have been fired after his debacle the year following the Majerus crew departure. Instead we wasted another year, had another lost recruiting class and it ended up wasting that season and taking even longer to repair the damage. We are on that same trajectory right now and fans need to be out with the pitchforks and torches to do all we can to prevent things from getting worse here.

Also, this is a message board and shooting the s&$^ about this stuff is literally the point of the site.

Bad take. We agree on letting Ford go though.

If UofL made that move there would be a riot. At this rate he'd be lucky to go to Berea.

That post threatening he will leave for the Louisville probably has Chris May trying to round up a $500,000 a year raise for Ford.

If he could raise funds to keep Ford we'd have to retain May.  With that kinda skill he could run for office.

Here's some good news, May for sure doesn't have a $10mil buyout. He could be gone today for nothing.

Clean house.

Because he was someone that was actually personally attacked yesterday unlike Ford and his family.

Because it hit national level and brings eyeballs.  Also it was personal and hilarious.

But seriously why is Stu traveling all over and not promoting Billiken Basketball. Inquiring minds want to know.

Stu is just an international man of mystery now.

I'm a 3rd generation fan, between my late grandfather, dad, and I, my family has seen roughly 60 years of Billiken Basketball history and I've never seen or heard any story as just...well...odd as this.

It's because I have been highly critical of his refusal to accept anything other than the company line regarding the eligibility and compliance saga. I don't think much of him and he doesn't think much of me and by extension the podcast. I assume he thinks it was a nonstory and/or out of line to put the burner on blast.

because they want to be friends to protect their access to information. Sadly common amongst "journalists" nowadays. they ALWAYS defend the admin and coach to protect access; they dare to speak truth and get silenced/lose their job. That's how it is.

"in defense of" doesn't capture the reality of the personal attacks and absurd excuses/statements that got uttered.

Here guys: ("this guy, always with the scenarios")

Zach posts podcast -> Shane Ford responds with "hey guys thanks for being fans, i really disagreed with you when you talked about CTF being bad; last year the Bills got snubbed from postseason play despite having a good record and marquee wins over Providence, Memphis, Dayton.. I think you guys are being overly critical and i'm looking forward to seeing Parker back and seeing better play"

Does this blow up on twitter and show up as absurd and ridiculous? No. Someone somewhere might make fun of it but who cares? That's a mature thing to say even if wrong. People post stuff like the above on here all the time and it gets called out, that's the nature of message boards. It is however not bizarre and out of control. You want to defend dad? try being an adult about it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Own it.

They believe it.  Travis Ford believes it.  If this isn't a family member of Ford's, it is someone extremely close to him.  I say that because what the person posting this stuff is doing is repeating the statements of someone that is feeling pressure and is incapable of self reflection.  Ford takes none of the blame.  It is all the fault of other people real and imagined.  It isn't just some MBM posting this stuff because there is some very specific, non surface level things posted that has never been brought up before like the attack on Stu Durando and this Forte being run out of town stuff.  Everything is someone else's fault.

agreed

Stu Durando's journalism is effectively retweeting ad campaigns. He's writing Swiffer commercials.

And I do think his comments need to be taken with that understanding. He probably had to address it once it got out like it did and that was a "friendly" setting to do so, but also with him not knowing what exactly was going on I think he should have been advised to keep his comments concise basically acknowledging the situation, that his son feels terrible about it, and that he in no way condones the behavior. He is not dialed into what was going on and in his response he kind of started rambling, so likely speaking more generally than to this specific situation which he most certainly had not been following. So, for those of us who are paying attention when he starts talking about hiding behind screen names and taking personal attacks, that explains the behavior of his son, not the podcast and other account his son attacked who are not hiding nor making personal attacks that I am aware of.

I am just so perplexed by the second account because in their defense of Ford, they have done the exact opposite really putting Ford on an island if this is assumed to be tied to Ford.

If he really didn't know enough of the situation then all he would have to say is "I just learned of this 15 minutes ago, I have not  had a chance to really talk to anybody or ask questions but I will tonight and have a statement tomorrow.  Not doing so only makes him appear to know more than he admits and that he is hiding his part/knowledge.

When is saying come say it to my face, I'm not hard to find ever not a tough guy act?

The problem is that few (any?) fans had crossed any sort of line and his son decided to throw gasoline on the fire. Pointing out the deficiencies and ineptitude of the athletic department, program, and BVF has all been warranted and is what fans do. Unfortunately, I don't see yesterday making things better with regards to the relationship between fans and Ford and now the program is an embarrassment. The team better get hot!

-because of the tone and the words, he said calmly, not in a mad or combative way that I've heard him use that if someone wants to come talk about basketball, notice he did not say to talk about burner accounts or social media but  talk about basketball, that he is at Humps on Mondays for the show

Sports media guys have to protect their access I get that but they have an obligation to do their job and that is writing the truth not a cheering session.  Just look at Randy K on 101, today he said if Kyrou would have performed this year then Berube would still be coaching - Randy has been supporting him carte blanche.  Danny Mc said on the show that he is not so sure about that - one player would not have fixed this.  He did not opine anything else.  The Blues announcer on the show also said that he has been pleasantly surprsed at how the defense is playing under Bannister.  Randy K is so far up Berube rear that he can not be counted on treating this matter objectively.  Berube obviously had lost the ears of the players - why who knows only they know so a change was inevitable.

I thought the exact thing he said was:

"I’ve never understood people hiding. If you’ve got something personal with me, I’m here at Humphrey’s every Monday."

That isn't hey come down to Humphrey's and let's shoot the sh!t about basketball.

Yeah this reads more like "square up and fight me" which is such a bad look.

Burnergate was fun while it lasted. Actually had me interested in the coaches show last night. Now what do I do?

Almost time to move into Billboard. That'll get some media and more reaction.

Maybe our players can't stay healthy because the coaching staff has them bathing in bleach weekly

Be serious. The bleach only works if you inject it. #science
