You literally reposted the Google AI (awful) generated response. Leaving out the next paragraph…. However, Title IX also allows schools to separate sports teams by sex, and schools can demonstrate equal opportunity by showing that the percentages of male and female athletes are roughly proportional to the percentages of male and female students enrolled. again - title ix is about opportunity. Scholarships. That’s it. Schools aren’t going to fund women’s cross country an equal amount as men’s football. But they use that sport to offset the number of scholarships between men/women. Bum. Continue to believe what you want. If you don't want to learn, I'm okay with that. Even A Bomb agreed with me that you are wrong. Title IX is much more expansive than simply scholarships, as you have twice stated, It protects people from discrimination in educational programs and activities based on sex. Scholarships is just one element of the Title. The SLU Office of Equal Opportunity and Title iX does more than count scholarships. Carry on. Quote

If a donor specifically donates something for baseball, softball is not entitle9 to the same. And vice versa. I get what you are saying, but I just don't think that SLU would be in a position to say that they're making a major upgrade to the baseball facility, but not to the softball facility without taking some major heat about gender inequity. There is plenty of space between the baseball field and Olive Compton/walkways. I don't think anyone is expecting any upgrade to extend even to the outer red line below. Mostly just sit in the exact footprint as now, just with real amenities. Hell you could even mix in some dual purpose infrastructure for gameday ops for soccer. I mistyped my original statement. I meant to say the softball field would have to be pushed east. As far as the baseball field, in the picture you sent (good job, BTW, getting that picture) there would be several of the light standards that would have to be redone if you made big improvements to the stands. Thus, it doesn't make sense to improve lights and then take them down to do the improvements. Why not? To avoid drumming up interest and/or donations? Because its just the way its done. We didn't know details about Chaifetz until the money was secured and the plans were all but done. We didn't know about the O'Loughlin Center until the money was secured and the plans were done. Same thing with the new soccer building. No one is complaining about keeping the fans in the loop on any of those projects. I just think that this is in the works. All of those project were probably years in the making before they got to the point of a public reveal. I'm not saying it will be next year or in the next three, but I think upgrading the baseball/softball facilities is coming soon. Quote

There’s enough room behind the home plate stands on softball. They should have done all of this in the last decade, it’s a basic thing to have. If It’s not a wow look at me project, ya know it’s not at the top of the list. You’re making the assumption that they are deciding to not install lights because they are planning multiple years in advance. In which case why would they not accept the donation with that in mind? Every ounce of historical evidence says that’s not a thing they are proficient at. SLU athletics is not worried about it will be perceived pursuant to title 9, they are worried about how announcing something would look to the rest of the University they are spending on athletics. If they were worried about how things look as it pertains to title 9 they would be big swinging d!ck about successfully bringing Field Hockey back to campus. You’re making guesses about future improvements. I’m not guessing. Quote

OkieBilliken Posted June 19, 2024 Author Posted June 19, 2024 Good lord, Dayton loses their best hitter Edward Yamin to LSU. In a span of a couple of days UD has lost their best two players to marquee SEC teams. They still haven't replaced their head coach who resigned to take an assistant position at Vandy. I have seen no rumors about who Dayton might be interested in, but they don't have much of their very solid team left. Its really crazy how many teams have lost double digit players when their coach departs. Dayton has lost 15. Indiana State 23. If DH does end up with the ISU job, he will have to live in the portal. Just want to make that clear. It will be very interesting, and telling, to see what happens if Hendrickson takes the ISU job. I would say if he takes that job, it's a good indication that he felt the basic improvements needed on the baseball stadium were not imminent. I just don't see Hendrickson leaving SLU and St. Louis, a school and city he's openly expressed his love for, where he's been for 17 years to start all over if there's solid indication that improvements are coming. Now if he leaves and plans for improvements to the field begin to take shape, I would say that could indicate a few things. Among them: 1. That May had no intention of bringing the field up to A10 standards while Hendrickson was in the position and that there has been a deeper disconnect between AD and Manager. 2. That May truly took Hendrickson for granted, not realizing how badly lagging the facilities are and that part of hiring a qualified coach would need to include bringing the field up to par or better. Those two points are a bit of speculation, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to let a coach who has made such a commitment to the university and city over the last 17 years, to walk away because of facilities and then turn around and upgrade them once he leaves. This isn't hating, dumping, sh*tting on May, it's just logic. As Trilly Donovan says: sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have. I think it goes without saying that I truly hope that Hendrickson does stay and both he and Connoyer get "upgrades" sorely needed for the BSC. I desperately want to be able pat Chris May on the back for this. OkieBilliken, cgeldmacher and Billiken Rich 3 Quote
TheA_Bomb Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Here's everything you need to know. The A10 is not a baseball power conference. SLU's baseball facilities aren't to the standard necessary to host the conference tournament. SLU baseball suffers not being able to get home field advantage in the conference tournament. Quote
