  1. Cook would play more than 13.5 MPG like he did at Gonzaga but nowhere near Goodwin's 30+ MPG. I don't think either of us think he's a Goodwin replacement. I also think if Goodwin returns, he couldn't play the same role. The backcourt has changed so much in the past several weeks. I would never push him out the door to move on if he could and would return. I also like the idea of him as an elder statesman playing 20+ MPG as a forward, veteran leader, and energy guy - which very well might not be the best move for a guy looking to play professionally in the next year-plus. Who knows. That's why I floated the idea of him playing somewhere else if he returns to college ball. This conversation was the two of us kicking around some ideas without any notes or outline. Appreciate the feedback, and keep in mind we both read and post here regularly, and incorporate ideas and narratives happening here (giving credit when we remember).

  2. Jacobs had star like moments pre covid pause, he didnt have the legs after the pause. I hope he does well. That said I want Nesbitt to have the most minutes he can and develope into a star player

  3. OU Boomer Sooner. I grew up the black sheep, an OU fan in a house of UT fanatics. My older brother went to school there. My youngest brother's first words were Hook em Horns. We all wore burnt orange and white at my Dad's funeral ( even his best friend who is an Aggie professor ) released orange and white balloons and sang the Eyes Of Texas with the Hook em sign held high. As a kid I literally was not allowed to watch the OU - Tx game in the living room unless I wore a UT hat. I never did. I watched from the hallway lol. However as an Adult I've leaned a bit away from OU ( just way too much cheating Football and basketball ) Though it seems better in both sports the last 10-15 years. And with my family being so pro UT, I've grown to like them also but will always root OU when they play each other

  4. CBB-Billikens. Cheer for other teams based off context, if there’s a player or coach I like in a given year. Hate: Mizzou, (Insert Blue Blood Here). CFB-Mizzou and UCF (my Dad went bro UCF, so it was fun watching them be so good for a couple years). Hate: Alabama, OU, Clemson, Ohio State MLB: Braves, Cardinals. (I cheer for the Cards whenever they’re not playing the Braves). Hate: Yankees, Phillies NHL: Blues. Hate: Blackhawks, Preds (used to hate the Redwings, but they’ve been so bad for so long, that hatred has waned). NBA: I don’t really care, but I do root for local guys like Tatum and Beal. Soccer: Billikens men and women. USMNT and USWNT. I’ve become a big Chelsea guy because of Pulisic, but follow and root for a lot of the Americans playing in Europe. Soon to be a big STLSC fan!

  6. That was it. Four did it the following year (Robinson, Claggett, Highmark, Dillard), and the only other time we had four since then was 1993-1994 (Claggett, Dobbs, Highmark, Waldman). Most other years, two or three guys have scored double figures. Some years just one - which isn't a problem when it's Larry Hughes, but isn't ideal when it's Milik Yarbrough.

  8. I don't think you can have one without the other I think old guy said it well..... Let me be clear that I was super excited when we signed Demarius and am sorry to see him go.

  9. Exactly right Dennis, if this team is going to be great next year, it needs Nesbitt to start and be a major contributor. I don’t want anything holding up his development.

  10. "Jacobs did not become our best player/scorer." OK, that may be true, but where's the logic in using that yardstick when every player but one will fail? Jacobs succeeded in his sixth man role; he came off the bench and turned the tide of games more than once. This board was praising him. He was never the same after the prolonged COVID break, and neither was the team. The fact the NCAA is granting eligibility for another season underscores how whacked everything was. Jacobs was WAY better pre-COVID this season compared to his turnover-prone initial season. Surely that took drive, motivation and a work ethic. Kudos to everyone wishing him well, agree he was great for the program and fun to watch.

  11. Yeah. Vetoing development bills that cost $0 to the city doesn’t seem very sensible.

  12. I think you are proving the point. Jacobs spent too much time deferring, thus his disappearances in games......

  13. Also I don't think he played with a lack of intensity at all. I think he could have asserted himself more offensively at times. However, when you're on a team with JGood, Has, and Perkins it tough to always know when to be aggressive and when to defer to the big 3. I wish him all the best at Ball State. He seems like a good guy and team mate

  14. The 5 second closely guarded rule only applies to a player “holding” the ball. They changed the rule in 2016 to eliminate the 5 second count when a player is dribbling.

  15. Thank you for the feedback! Just a response to your note on the Goodwin/Yadier comparison. I think it was less about age and more about moving on in terms of style of play and start to let these younger guys reach for a bigger role on the court and in the locker room. It was about having the decision of whether or not to bring a veteran player back or not, which is a decision that college coaches have never had like this year. But I totally agree with you on the aging part and Goodwin in his prime and like I said, I'd love to have Goodwin back if he's open to playing an undersized 4 role. I really have no interest in watching Goodwin on the ball or at the two taking shots outside of 6 feet from the rim next year and it may be a dumb opinion but it's mine and I'M STICKING TO IT!

  16. You’re forgetting about a crucial third reason: 3) the NCAA’s sham amateurism model is quite possibly illegal, which is why they are spending so much time having to defend it in court and in front of congress for the past several years. The NIL rule is an easy way for the NCAA to allow student athletes to get paid and to appease the regulators and lawyers without forcing the schools to actually pay the players out of their own pockets.

  17. The McDermott interview was great, I really enjoyed it (especially as someone who isn't plugged into SLU soccer as often as many of the more die-hard fans). The pod has proven to be a great way for me to keep up with the non-basketball sports. You and Peter are doing a great job; the production quality and your ability to have a natural conversation is impressive for such a relatively new podcast. I have to add though that I disagreed with a lot of the Jordan Goodwin discussion. I think at one point Zac compared him to Yadier Molina or some of the older Blues players which didn't really make sense to me since Jordan Goodwin is not an aging player; he's still getting better and his return would immediately elevate the ceiling of our team. The Cardinals wouldn't have let go of prime, all-star Yadier Molina just because they thought it was time for a fresh catcher behind the plate. And if it's time to move on from Goodwin, I don't really follow why you guys seemed to be keen on Aaron Cook, who would basically present the same issues as Goodwin in terms of taking time away from our other guards. But even though I have a different opinion on those topics it's always good to hear well informed Bills fans talk about the team and I'm grateful for the offseason content.
