Pistol
Small PGs can make it in the A10. We've run into plenty of them over the years, and some that would give up at least a few inches on Collins.

We’re constantly running into waterbug point guards who our bigger guards can’t stay in front of. Idk if Collins is super quick, but his height shouldn’t be the huge red flag a few are making it out to be.

I caught the second half of that game. Forgot Gilyard was at Richmond. Won a state championship at Barstow. Had a great high school career. gobillsgo
Saw Collins play about a month or so back... he elevated and nearly dunked over a player about 5-6 inches taller than him. Got fouled in the process. I was pretty amazed when it happened. Didn’t know he had that kind of bounce. He certainly isn’t too small. This will be one we regret if he gets away. billiken_roy
if you all havent seen liddell play yet, make plans. he is fun to watch and the potential of what might be is incredible. imo he would be the best player on the billikens right now and he is only a high school junior now. this coming summer of playing against all the big time talent with the beagles will really cement his stock. i wish the billikens would step up their "interest". i am tired of going to ej's games and only seeing the mi$$ouri coaching staff at the games. considering that in his previous days before he broke through, all supposedly talked about was playing for the billikens, it is disheartening to see he doesnt seem to rank us as high any longer. Would you not think that Tate would be the point man on local recruits? Do you think that is a Ford or Tate decision on EJ?
3star_recruit
When you don't see Travis Ford or his assistant haunting a local top 50 junior's steps, it's really very straightforward. That player has no interest in going to the local school. This isn't Crews we're talking about. This is one of the hardest working recruiters in the business. Imo right now we are in a similar position we were in with Goodwin when Ford came to town. Ford and Tate turned it on gave Goodwin mega attention and brought him back to where he was on his choice before crewsplatt ignored him. The difference though is Liddell is better right now than anyone on the billikens now or next year and the profile of his suitors is only going to get higher. While Goodwin had some big time programs pursuing him, Liddell might end up with a Tatum like list of schools. That said the same attention Ford and Tate gave Goodwin I think would at least put us back in the running. We shall see but imo we got about 8 months to turn this back around and show EJ that it really is good to be home sweet home.

TFord and TRavs
If our players come back for the rest of conference play, and we dominate, ford can lock up 2019 with a few offers before the end of spring semester

cheeseman
Usually recruiting follows a similar pattern everywhere - when the coach is first hired they get a bump in recruiting for a year or two, then things kind of level off unless the coach is showing success on the court, if he is then he can continue to get good recruits if he is not then he may only get avg. type recruits. Often it is in year 3 that the problem crops up on the court and usually by year 4-5 the coach is gone. A coach who has success on the court in the early years will continue to get good recruits and he will be sought after by other schools. Success on the court will eventually be required for Ford to continue recruiting at a high level. billiken_roy, 615Billiken and SShoe like this

"Mr. Integrity" at Mizzou has a history of starting strong on the recruiting front only to fizzle out by years 3 or 4. It's important for Ford to start generating wins and excitement here, or else our 2019/2020 classes will likely consist of more Jon Mannings and Jared Drews.
