jimbofive
seriously, kudos to may and the entire AD for not dragging their feet with this. i hope they're as serious about ponying up for the next coach as they were about letting this one go. no ill will towards jim crews, he was a coach that got a golden opportunity whether he deserved it or not. he's gone and we're moving on. LET'S GET BRAD STEVENS IN HERE!!!
DoctorB
Just now checking back in ... Thanks for posting that news conference, that was very poignant and it really says a lot about Coach Crews' character. As for all the SH_T I'm getting for posting earlier: I can take it. But I gotta tell you I wrote that and posted it as a service, since a few guys were asking if it really happened. I was just trying to clarify, and yes, I had source, so deal with that too. It happened so fast, that while I wrote it, the other guy posted the link to the announcement, which I discovered the instant I actually posted. So back off, ladies. CBFan
So far SLU has handled the Coach Crews issue quickly and professionally. It gives me hope the decision on a new coach will be done well. Thank you Coach Crews, you gave it your best but is was not good enough. I wish Coach Crews well on his retirement.

slu72
Surprised, pleasantly, it happened so quick. But SLU made a statement that they're not putting up with crap hoops. Good sign. As one older donor said, basketball is SLU's window to the world. And our window shades were pulled tight shut the last two years. I'm sure Jim Crews is a good and decent person, but somewhere along the line this whole program went whacko under him. So, Jim, you really should not be upset. You collected some nice checks and probably another nice one to leave gracefully. Now, who do we get is the biggie. The squad Crews assembled is a jumble mixed up mess, but, there are some guys given the propet motivation and techniques to work on could contribute. No names, but here's hoping the whole team just doesn't jump ship. A change was needed no doubt. And if you work for someone/company you're expected to produce. Didn't happen here, but am sure he gave it his best. So, let's not be nasty and wish Jim Crews the best.
doowop
The success of the women's team could not have helped Crews' status.
Soderball
The success of the women's team could not have helped Crews' status. Lisa Stone is a winner with a track record of winning. If we display the same commitment to excellence in our determination to get a winner with a track record of success coaching the men's team, I will be satisfied. Go big-time. Releasing Crews immediately after the game was a big-time decision. Let's keep that up.
wgstl
Wait, so, does crews fly back with the team or, how does this work?
Soderball
A quick glance at this clown's Twitter infuriates me. McBroom is a dirtbag and an idiot. Why do you expect him to not have dirtbag, idiot friends? He sucked too. He wouldn't have helped us. Eastern Washington is a crap team in a crap conference. You guys done bringing that idiot up yet? billikenbill
link to the press conference: https://www.facebook.com/Atlantic10/videos/vb.38521606526/10153461403271527/?type=2&theater Great presser by Crews. Interesting that he said that he had Welmer penciled in as a starter after summer workouts and the Bahamas trip. From watching all the Bahama replays, my impression was Welmer was going to be a significant contributor this year with good upside. Glad to have verification that "The Beast" had impressed the staff so much that he was going to begin the year as a starter. With the exception of one frontcourt player, I'd be OK with everyone else returning. I'm guessing that at least one guard will be heading elsewhere next year. Assuming no more than two transfers, it looks like the new staff will have some talent to work with.
moytoy12
1. Holy sh!t, Old Guy is alive! 2. Interesting comments at the end of this article by Bernie: http://www.101sports.com/2016/03/10/250651/. majerus mojo
Lol thinking about what it meant to be a "starter" under JC. So he'd have gotten the job for a week and then...
