I gotta tell ya - if you thought Nesbitt was our most promising player you were watching a different game than I was. If you think losing a guy like Nesbitt is bad you really are in for a rough ride.

My opinion - he was fine, he took up some minutes.  There's a boatload of guys in the NCAA who can do what he did this season - there's a similar boatload who can be better than him. If TF cant find those guys we have a problem.
Supremely Athletic? yes. But he's missing alot in my books. Look at the way a guy like JP controls his body, the ball and his shot selection on the court. Nesbitt didn't show any ability to do any of that, and I didn't seem much progress on it which is worrying.

No, I have not seen anyone advocate for that thought. But I also think it’s pretty reasonable to have questions about whether there is any link between the two conditions. And I think it is reasonable to have some level of concern about the athletes we support while the medical community continues to study whether long-term effects such as myocarditis is that could be related to COVID-19. It would be unfair to say there definitely is a connection, and it would be unfair to criticize someone for wondering whether there might be. The scientific community will need much more time to figure out the definitive answer.

I coached for 6 years from 2004-2010 (if I remember the timeframe correctly) then had kids. I later came back and helped a bit. We share the same first name and I once sent you to join a DePaul huddle because I was annoyed the decided to huddle on our half of the field. You played midfield

There are now some folks in Burkina Faso with SLU gear and clothing. And bless the Traore family for the help they are giving those people, especially medical help. And for those who always think the Post ignores or doesn't give SLU enough good pub, this one's for you.

Thanks, I appreciate it....sometimes I wonder if anyone reads anything other than the spread headline but I do know there are some who read everything. I write for those people.....and I write what I would be interested to know about.  While everybody is not a numbers nerd or a stat geek, mostly everybody who comes to the board comes for the same reason...they want to know what The Bills are doing   I try to do that not only by looking at the numbers but behind the numbers. Look for patterns that the average fan might miss. And then try to make it understandable whether it is with a grading system that turns abstract numbers( or Mysterious Evaluation Tools...MET) into grades that fans can put into perspective or maybe percentages  or probabilities.  I may say the Bills have a good chance to win but I usually will follow it up with saying we have a 61% chance to win. Sometimes I will convert those odds into a poker hand or a dice throw because fans are more familiar with those type of chances.
As a long time Bills fan, I want to know the good and the bad...I want to know why and how  we won a game.  And do we have a chance to Dance ... but most of all I want to know the numbers.
    Thanks for reading.

Has anyone heard anything on any of the empty Laclede buildings?  Humphreys, Diabliatos, and Laclede's are all sitting empty and have been for years.  You also have the empty warehouse a little east of Laclede's.  It is really frustrating to see those sit there empty with apparently no plans.
A lot of great things happening in the general area of SLU but frustrating we can't even get the stuff across the street from us right.

This will be my last post in this topic.   You understand investment right?  $60 million up front is a lot for the city, sure.  But a professional sports franchise in likely THE fastest growing league in the US will return much more than $60 million over the next 50 years.
Reading this thread, it's easy to see why the Proposition failed.  I hope the city doesn't regret telling MLS to take a hike.

At this point I believe there is enough examples to say that public financing of arenas rarely works out as some sort of gold mine for cities. Billionaire owners, who are billionaires without their sports team toy, use the fear of losing a team to hold a city hostage every 15-20 years when they want upgrades or new facilities. There are plenty of examples - even new Busch stadium didn’t spur anything exciting. it’s over 10 years old now and they’re just now on phase 2 of ballpark village.

I would really encourage everyone to simply go downtown and walk around on like a Friday for several hours. Its far busier than you think and there are lot of lawyers/accountants/finance/residents just walking around.  I would love to hear a report from people who actually go do this.
This thread is filled with some unbelievably stupid people.

Disagree.  Now that the excitement is back in St louis about basketball, I'd hate to have some middle of the pack NBA team take the excitement away.  Only way for SLU to take that leap we all talk about would most likely need an NBA-less city to support it 100%.

edit:  This is also because I hate the NBA and love Soccer, so Im probably way off too.

The NBA is not all that entertaining for true basketball fans.  It is kind of like watching the best football players in the world play flag football.  Sure you have the best athletes in the world playing but it isn't exactly the game of basketball, is it?  No defense or travelling.  Hero ball all day and different set of rules for star players.  No thanks, I will stick to college ball.

    Thanks?
It might not start as assault but it can become that at some point during an encounter. Most of these cases are like that, in fact.
I'm also wondering why you're only calling out the poor decisions of the girls when the guy in this case has been the subject of two investigations and admitted to doing something without consent in one of them. Based on what we know in this case, I'd say his judgment deserves a higher degree of scrutiny than the girls'.
Drinking complicates everything, I get that. Most of these cases are pretty complicated. I don't see this as one to dig in on behalf of the accused, though.

I also emailed Jose.  I'm sure it's a pointless effort, but I felt it needed to be sent.
    Jose,
I just finished reading your piece on the SLU Title IX investigation and the punishment handed down to Jordan Goodwin along with the other 3 suspended players.  While I knew the level of writing and reporting at the Post had declined in recent years, I had no clue it fell off a cliff.  I continue to be a subscriber to the Post and badly want to support our local newspaper, but this type of article makes it awfully difficult.
The column you wrote is full of non-verified speculation and innuendo, and any additional investigations or research would have resulted in a column with at least some semblance of fairness.  Instead, you took huge leaps in making broad sweeping statements about SLU and about the 4 players involved in the investigation.  You indirectly suggested that the campus is not being made safe by the school because the basketball program allows its players free reign.  Clearly, that’s not the case, as evidenced by an expulsion, two 2-year suspensions, and a third suspension that was reduced because he was cleared of all charges relating to the sexual misconduct.
Comparing the school to Penn State, Baylor, or MSU right now is also disingenuous at best.  There is no clear pattern of abuse or cover-up.  There was one incident and the school has responded with very strong punishments for those involved, including one player, Henriquez, who was expected to be the leading scorer for the team.  Again, any research might’ve allowed you to understand that instead of making the suggestion that Goodwin is only still here because he was the “best player”.
This assumption also shows zero knowledge or understanding of how the Title IX process works and who is making these determinations.  Go find out who the Hearing Officer was that made the initial rulings and ask yourself, “does this seem like someone who is trying to prop up the basketball program.”
At the end of the article, you wrote about accountability. I hope you get a chance to learn that lesson as well.
    Best Regards,
    Steve Schuman
