  1. Or the issue with Jacobs is exactly what Coach Ford said it is. Everyone heals differntly and can handle pain differently.

  2. I disagree strongly with anyone who would want us to turn down an NIT bid. It’s a tournament with lots of good teams. It would give our seniors a chance at postseason and would give our other players further time to develop.

  3. You don't turn down an NIT bid. SLU isn't getting an NIT bid unless they somehow win the regular season but don't win the conference tournament. It is kind of a moot point. You do turn down CBI, CIT, etc because they are worthless tournaments with low level programs and would cost the athletic department significant money.

  4. Looking at the next week, by the end of Wednesday February 20th, all A-10 teams will have played the same amount of games with 5 remaining. Lets assume based on win probability that the top 8 in the standings looks like this: T1. DAV 11-2 T1. VCU 11-2 3. GM 9-4 T4. SLU 8-5 T4. DAY 8-5 T4. DUQ 8-5 T4. BONA 8-5 T8. URI 6-7 T8. LAS 6-7 Our last 5 games of the season are: @DAY, @VCU, vs GM, vs DUQ , and @ BONA Ww pretty much play all top 4 (not including tiebreakers) teams until the end of the season after the LaSalle game. Defending home court will be extremely important. Win those two and take one on the road, we probably get 5 or 6. Get two on the road could be enough to get us to top 4 and a bye. lets play our best basketball of the season. Go Bills

  5. -I agree this has been his MO, I wonder if this is because the talent dropoff past player 8 was very significant?

  6. The realistic path to a top 4 seed involves SLU only losing one more game down the stretch. That would presumably be @ VCU. IF that occurs, it means we hang another loss on Dayton and George Mason and they'd each have 4 with us having the tie-breaker. So then both of those teams need to lose 2 more games. Plenty of chances for Dayton with games against VCU, @ Davidson and two more road games. George Mason has an easier path with the road game being at St. Bon and home against VCU looking tough. The hardest part of everything above is really SLU only losing one more game. But its not impossible.

  9. I don't think it necessarily needs to be a "college bar." It just needs to be a place that draws patrons all throughout the week. Popular sports bar or restaurant on weekdays with a good weekend late night atmosphere. Something akin to Tin Roof or Wheelhouse? SLU admin would love that.... The hard part is getting enough weekday patrons, that's what did Humphreys in financially. With all of the development around the Foundry, my guess is that it's much more doable now. Just need a walkable area with residential density and multiple go-to spots.

  10. On the weekends, it’s to aid traveling. During the week, they are generally to accommodate away games that have elementary school students attending. I believe they’ve had 4 of them this year, plus the game they housed for grade schoolers. There were close to 8,000 st SLU.

  13. Hire James Earl Jones to give his Field of Dreams speech slightly changed? Alumni will come, Fred. They'll come to St. Louis for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up on Laclede not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at the front door as innocent as students, longing for the past. "Of course, we won't mind if you look around", you'll say. "It's only $20 donation per person". They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it, for it is money they have and fun they lack. And they'll walk up to the bar; waiting for a shot on a perfect night. They'll find they have reserved table for penny pitchers upstairs, where they sat when they were students and chugged their beers. And they'll drink beer and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. Oh alumni will come Fred.

  14. Here’s my question. What can we as alumni do to raise these concerns with Fred/BOT etc...

  15. And the worst part is that SLU thinks it is doing a great service for its student body by closing up all of the bars/social gathering spots around campus. In reality, it is killing the school's social fabric. While students can certainly go to Soulard or the CWE or Wash Ave, there's no particular place devoted to the SLU community that people on campus could walk to to meet up and hang out during the week. Humphrey's was always the go-to if you just wanted to hang out with your peers. Now there's nothing like that around campus within walking distance. Sure, Narwhal's is nice, but it's not exactly the kind of place students would go to get drunk together on cheap beer. Classic SLU shooting itself in the foot. Hopefully the Foundry has plenty of cheap bars and hangout spots targeted towards students.

  18. Remember the days when fans would cheer for their players? Or wait until the season is over before being too critical? Or comment only on basketball performance and not attack guys personally? Remember when we had stricter rules for younger kids due to them not being professionals? Privacy of internet is awesome!! We have 7 guys which includes an injured Bess and what appears to be an injured Wiley - both giving it their all. Praise them but why take shots at Jacobs saying he is either a wimp or is faking it? Why the personal attack? Because you feel big and strong with message board obscurity? Good time to publicly insult a guy recovering from injury and now practicing? His close friend already left midseason for DePaul so why not help push him out the door? Great idea!!

  19. Healing differently and handling pain differently are completely separate. Either he is a wimp or is faking it to not play. Bess has been playing on worse. If Jacobs wants to play, he would push through to help his teammates. Doesn’t seem that way to me. Players like that are not #teamblue

  21. An opinion based around experience. Jacobs has a far lesser injury than Goodwin or Bess. Time will show but my betting money is on Jacobs leaving
