Listener of the Streets

Listener of the Streets (6/7)

  1. Reports that BVF is going away. No mention of brokering NIL in this interview or the Stu interview. So, if they are going to be active in NIL, he missed a really key opportunity to hi-light their efforts to leverage NIL to attract athletes to SLU. So it's an assumption based on a preponderance of the evidence. Does anyone know of any ongoing SLU AD led NIL efforts beyond the t-shirt online store? Or any plans for SLU to support athelete NIL deals? Or any businesses that are approaching SLU for NIL moving forward? I would be very interested to hear about any efforts.
  2. If at any point the power conference schools are at a disadvantage to schools like SLU monetarily that is the point they leave the NCAA. SLU should try an all of the above strategy, NIL and revenue sharing. Ignoring one is not taking advantage of all available options. Also helping facilitate NIL deals for athletes can help them avoid predatory practices.
  3. All this does is allow direct payments, NIL still exists. To think that's gone is short sighted. Schools need some apparatus to make deals between players and those willing to pay them for NIL. Being in a metro area should be an advantage for NIL deals as there are more businesses. However, it appears SLU thinks the direct payments are all it needs, at least from these interviews. Director May clueless as usual. I'd feel so much better if there was mention of direct payment and a continuing effort to secure external NIL for deserving student athletes. To not pursue both is to willfully not do what it takes to "compete at the highest levels."
  4. From Horns247 Staff regarding Texas distribution: "The revenue share formula will roughly follow: 75 percent of future revenue will be shared with football players, 15 percent to men's basketball, 5 percent to women's basketball and 5 percent to all remaining sports." NIL isn't going away. It looks like collectives paying directly is stopping for now. Boosters wanting to get a player to their school will find a way.
  5. This poll is obviously biased by the geography of the participants. KC style is good. Texas style is the best. But within Texas the Hill Country is the best. I enjoy Memphis, and South Eastern style mustard based on Boston butt with BBQ slaw. As for sides... Fries are not required Slaw and beans are required The type of bean is up for debate I enjoy pinto, charro, or borracho beans. Mac & cheese is standard Potato salad is standard Hush puppies are a no. That's a catfish shack staple not BBQ. Corn bread is good, or even tortillas or in Texas sliced white bread Need dill pickle chips, and fresh onion for it to be Texas style. For those who don't BBQ, pork, ribs that's easy, but brisket is truly hard to master and thus it's the true measure of skill. A proper BBQ spread. Brisket with smoke ring and bark evidence of a good smoke.
  6. Yeah that challenge last night was redic. But Nijaree was lights out so they were trying whatever they could to get something going. Here's to hoping she's tired tonight and Texas moves to 5-1 vs her all time.
  7. If you win the conference regular season and can't host the conference tournament due to lacking facilities, you put yourself at a competitive disadvantage. Getting to the NCAA regional = more money, more exposure, and better recruiting. That then equals more success. At least get to the minimum requirement to host the conference tournament. Then as revenue increases upgrade as needed.
  8. https://tst7v7.com/mens-bracket/ Looks like a really fun event and would probably be great to attend. Boca Dallas has a former Ambush player Fordham has a player. City Football FC is all former Colombian pros, sadly none from my favorite team the Millionarios. Bumpy Pitch FC makes me laugh.
  9. Tortilla Tech has a couple crazy boosters that are splashing the cash. This is their dream a chance to beat OU and Texas on a big stage. Texas has been so close, with OU out this is the one shot.
  10. UTSA has done a lot to upgrade from a commuter school to D1 sports and nicer campus. They had a great season in football a couple years ago. I think the MWC would be a step down for baseball. AAC has some legit baseball powers Rice, Tulane, and ECU. Not sure about the other sports or PaC-12, but i haven't heard anything about them moving. Also kinda crazy I checked MWC baseball standings and they still had TCU listed at 0-0 in 2025 standings. https://themw.com/standings/sport/baseball/ Haven't been in the conference for years.
  11. Their pitching was lights out and they had timely hits. They beat Texas in the regular season so they're not some fluke. They're legit. Texas fell off after #1 starting pitcher Spencer went down for the season about 8 weeks ago. Still shoulda' had enough to advance but that's why they play the game. UTSA will go to UCLA now.
  12. A SLU fan is the sum of his misfortunes. One day you'd think misfortune would get tired but then time is your misfortune.
  13. Ebay has a signed 82-83 MBB poster bid is $79. I'm guessing MBB or M Soccer schedule posters are all you'd be able to find. You could go custom Sticker Mule has an option for $39. Or i think Displate or other companies like them do custom. https://www.stickermule.com/products/custom-posters
