tru dat, but we saw plenty last year that it seems he could help someone in NBA. hope the chunk was as big as he deserved.

This is why I'm low key angry that he's not playing with someone. He proved he could be an asset to a team.

I don't think his outside shooting % is good enough for today's NBA no matter how well he plays defense and rebounds from the guard position. Hopefully, his agent directs him to the Euro League where he could potentially make close to a million or more/season without having to worry about who he is playing for every month.

Sadly you may be correct. If he is not picked up by another NBA team before the season, overseas may be his best bet at this point in his career.

Goodwin was a long shot to make the Lakers roster.  He will go to their G League team and wait for a callup.

The difference between him and Collins is pretty stark.  Collins is a super longshot to play even 1 game in the league.  He should go make more money overseas right now.  Goodwin already has the service time in.  He plays in just 1 game this season and his pension goes up a large amount.  Way more lucrative for him to stick in the G League now and maybe next year as well.  He will get called up at some point by someone if he plays well and his future earnings will go up significantly.

To echo what @thetorch said, Jordan will report to the Lakers G League team. He is rehabbing a hamstring injury which is going to take another month or 2 to get back to full speed. From there I agree he will catch on somewhere. Best of luck Jordan, heal up!

NBA starts

now I hate Lakers big time. someone start a JG thread without them.

Hard for me to root for him affiliated with Lakers.  I'd rather him be with almost any other organization.

i just want him to be on a roster long enough to get the pension.   then he can come back to Belleville and take over as the Althoff Coach when his coach, Greg Lieb, retires

That would be great work his way up a Nan take Coach’s seat after his record breaking run

South Bay Lakers Training Camp Roster:

https://southbay.gleague.nba.com/news/south-bay-lakers-finalize-training-camp-roster-and-schedule

G League teams can carry 10 players on standard G League contracts, plus additional slots for two way players and assignment players from the parent team. South Bay's season starts Nov 9.

Here is an interesting new G League experimental rule for this season:

End of Period “Heaves”: Certain unsuccessful end-of-period “heaves” will be adjusted from an individual player’s missed field goal attempt to a team field goal attempt when the following criteria are met: 1) the missed field goal attempt takes place within the final three seconds of the first three periods of the game, 2) the missed field goal attempt must take place from beyond the outer edge of the center circle extended (i.e., approximately 36 feet from the basket) as shown here, 3) the play must originate in the backcourt.

If a field goal attempt meets the above criteria, and the shot is made, then the player will be credited with a standard made field goal attempt. The team field goal attempts will not be tied to the individual player on the final box score. If a field goal attempt meets the above criteria, but the shot is blocked by a defender, the attempt will count as a team field goal attempt, and the defender will be credited with a blocked shot.  Any associated rebounds after such blocked shot will still be credited to an individual player, as needed.

JG may not be a regular NBA contributor due to his shooting shortcomings, but I remember an interview with Pat Riley.  He said his job was to push Jerry West in practice, so that West would great in games.  I would think there would be a position like that for JG, but maybe times have changed.

More than one team could use that

Goodwin was able to make his season debut on Friday.  16 points on 4-9 from 3, 3 boards, and 2 steals in 15 minutes off the bench.  His minutes will be limited for a couple more games and then he should be getting much more time.

hopefully the Lakers give him the big show opportunity soon.   it seems to me with a game like that, he doesnt belong in the G league.

Goodwin played in 17 games, starting 9 for the South Bay Lakers.  He averaged 14 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals while shooting 42% from the field and 31% from 3.

Goodwin is eligible to play in up 19 games with the Lakers the rest of the season if he remains on his current 2 way deal.  He will not be eligible for the playoffs unless he signs a regular roster deal.

Goodwin, with being on an active roster in his 4th season, has added to his possible NBA pension.  As a 4 year player he will get over 70k per year if he retires at the age of 62 from the NBA pension fund.  His NBA pension has been vested since he appeared in games his 3rd season last year.

The Lakers do have one roster spot remaining and have made it clear they are looking to fill it with a shooting guard.  Conceivably, Goodwin is in the conversation to win this roster spot.  The Lakers have also been rumored to add Lonnie Walker, Seth Curry, Jaden Springer, Josh Richardson, or Seth Curry to round out their roster.

Breaking news

The Mark Williams for Dalton Knecht/Cam Reddish has been voided by the NBA.

The Lakers do not have an open roster spot anymore and their center situation is in flux. Goodwin's chances of being on a roster deal have dropped precipitously.
