This has snowballed into an avalanche!  This will be my last comment on this sub-sub-topic.

I have never insulted a person with a developmental disability, and I don't recall using the term "retarded" when I was a youth — I concede it's possible though, to try to fit in with my peers — but, as I said, its usage wasn't really connected any person's intellectual ability or functioning.  I never said it was, is, or should be permissible to use the term to attempt to offend someone.  Mostly it was the youth of the day doing the stupid stuff youth have been doing for millennia and will probably continue to do for centuries to come.

It was in the context of that immature usage — not as a shot to anyone with a developmental condition — that I said, "It's better to be a nerd than a 'tard."  I apologize to anyone who finds the term offensive; I wasn't intending for anyone to interpret it as an accusation of anyone or to belittle anyone who has any developmental disability.  I certainly do not harbor any uncivil attitudes towards people who live with such or who care for them.

When I was "teaching" at Wellston as a Jobs for Missouri Graduates job specialist, I took my students — paying out of my own pocket — to a Cardinals game (first season in Busch III) for Career Day.  While we were at the perimeter of the stadium, we saw a young man in a wheelchair (I don't know the name of his condition — maybe severe cerebral palsy), and one of my students, who himself appears to be at least somewhat learning disabled, just busted out laughing, pointing at, and ridiculing the guy.  I was astonished at the behavior!  I wanted to slap the mess out of him, but I refrained (I had to!).  I admonished him (my student), but he didn't respect me and I had no way to drive home the educational point to him.

During my years working in schools, I worked around many young people served by the Special School District.  I never treated any of them as if they were less than human, and I don't think anyone would accuse me of that if you asked them.  Nor have I ever directed a derogatory term towards any of them or spoken of any person with a developmental disability using a derogatory term

Except you did.

Oh so mods can give out good posts and bad posts but we can’t give them good or bad? Time for @Quality Is Job 1 time as a mod to come to an end. You said you’ve neve insulted  a person with disabilities but you used “tard” as an insult. You’re ignorant. Take your bullish!t to tigerboard where it belongs

I removed my reaction.  After thinking about it, I had decided I would remove it.  Then I saw your post.  Dude, you really don't have room to talk.

luv it. that will be me if there's an S3 or anything else that derails this year. Can't wait for 11/6.

If we don't have any issues I think it will be disappointing if we don't make the dance. Seems main reason sighted around here for not being too cocky is they haven't played together meaning the newcomers and the 3 returning starters. The 3 returning starters have proven they're studs. They did with basically Roby and a walk on completing the 5 guys on the court. This year we've got 5 guys to fill out the last 2 spots. They are unknowns till that first game but seeing as all 3 of the starters Ford touted and they all proved him right. All he needs is for 2 of those 5 to be studs and will be rocking.

Can SLU accounting count the Bills' NCAA Tournament credits as part of the fundraising totals in the years to come? 😋

We already have a history of NCAA Tournament credits (payable over a number of years) earned by our 3 prior appearances. There should be some kind of a record somewhere showing whether or not these funds were incorporated into the fundraising totals for the past few years.

I would think not because this is an earned credit - it would be like counting tuition or tix sales as fundraising.

I would not think so also. Like the school competing for a grant that includes some financial gain. I.e. Med School doing a clinical trial on a new drug.

Holy cow, this is fantastic.  I guarantee this guy was in attendance at the infamous Justin Love/shark mascot game.

I believe he was in the shark costume.
