Results so far: Atlantis All-Stars: vs. Georgia Tech - L 101-60 Bahamas All-Stars: vs. North Florida - L 102-84 PJ Stingers: vs. Southern Utah - W 79-77 Full game video (broken up by quarter) is available on Youtube at the "10th Year Seniors" page: https://www.youtube.com/user/10thyearseniors1/videos
The Wiz
As we prepare for the Bahama's tour, I thought I would dust off the computer and give things a whirl. I did manage to attend a couple of practices and my overall impression is that we are a better team than last year....bigger, stronger, faster, more experienced. We "should" do better. As for the Bahamas, anything I try to enter at this point comes back S3....small sample size (or no sample size) . But , hey , it's preseason...let's do it anyway. First, the teams that have been down there already....Ga Tech ( B ) a decent team that played a vicious schedule last year. and wound up with a losing record....did well against the Bahamian teams. N Fla ( C+ ) . A pretty good team that made it to the NCAAs last year...lost to Rob Morris by 4 on the play-in....also did well in the Bahamas. So. Utah ( F ) a bad team that eeked out a win against one of the better Bahama teams. The Bahama teams are weak...their main problem is they can't shoot. If we play traditional Bills D we could be a nightmare for them. Did I say they can't shoot? There 3pt % has generally been single digits. We should win the first game easily (double digits) . We should also win the 2nd game easily (double digits...though by less than the first game). The 3rd game will be the test...I am showing (with sketchy data) Bills by 7. If we are off ...or they get hot...or we don't try to win (because we need to work on things) this could turn into a loss.. On the flip side, a win by more than 7 means things are going well at this early stage of the season. As some here will point out...this all means nothing. I don't believe that This will be a measuring stick to see where we start the season....particularly the 3rd game....How much potential we have...how much work we have left to do. I believe at this point, we are a better team than last year. This will be our first glimpse to see if that is true.
billikenbill
At first glance, it seems surprising that the PJ Stingers would be better than the Atlantis All-Stars and the Bahamas All-Stars. Can't sleep on the Stingers though.
slu72
If we lose to a bunch of cabana boys, bellhops, fishing guides, and yacht tenders, we should all be disappointed. Not saying this team is capable of blowing out the competition, but we should not lose to any of these teams.
billikenbill
Halftime Slu 43 - cabana boys, bellhops, fishing guides, and yacht tenders 37. The "tenders" closed the half on a 19-5 run. 43 possessions in the first half, 13 ending in turnovers. Too early to panic yet?
billikenbill
Bills continue to pile up turnovers at an alarming rate. Up to 22 now on 59 possessions for a whopping rate of 37.2%.
billikenbill
End of 3 Bills up 5, 65-60. The upside is 24-29 from the stripe, the downside is everything else. Oh and our FT defense is quite good as they've missed 16 of 38 from the stripe.

billikenbill
Bills win 81-73. MR 10-10 from the stripe. Box score here: http://www.fibalivestats.com/matches/17554/16/02/10/81j84tOYKjCWg/ Surprised that Aaron Hines played 32 mins. while Ash played only 6. Box and Won
Can't sleep on the Stingers though. Sleep on the Stingers, and you'll get stung. #dukeofbahamas
slufan13
The spread of minutes is crazy to me for being an exhibition. Roby not great shooting but looks like he made the big plays. Crawford extremely efficient but 5 turnovers isn't good. Although everyone turned it over way too much.
brianstl
On its surface, I don't understand 32 minutes for Hines and 5 for Bishop. Is Bishop hurt or sick?
ucfjnutt
Hi all, John Marc from 10thYearSeniors here. slubillikens43
From watching the 1st quarter of the game, the Atlantis Allstars were not a good basketball team
Quality Is Job 1
How many of those 28 turnovers were shot clock violations (with a 24-second clock)?
Billboy1
Just remember there was a reason AH was a walk- on.
slu72
From the brief write up, we got beat on the boards by a smaller team. Looks like Rick's mantra, to win defense and rebound, is pretty much out the window with Crews crew. The article also said the Cabana boys scored a lot of second chance points. Now, wasn't the whole point of recruiting really tall inside guys to dominate the boards and prevent put backs? Sorry, it is not encouraging when we get out rebounded by a team of fishing guides. SLU_Nick
Is starting Hines some kind of motivational tool or something... I don't understand why Crews would play someone who, presumably won't play, 32 mins in this limited opportunity to increase team cohesion. It makes zero sense to me. bauman
Reading JC's comment in the post-game write-up, I suggest that they need at least a short practice after the awful showing in the first game. Can't they have fun while fitting in a hour practice to correct errors-isn't that what coaches are supposed to be doing? The rebounding and turnovers which should have caused us to lose to poor team need to be addressed immediately. If Atlantis could have shot FTs and if MR had made 80% of his FTs instead of 100% we would have had an embarrassing loss to the busboys! 3star_recruit
It's hard for me to take the results of a game seriously where Hines and Reynolds play 32 min each, Ash plays 7 min, Milik plays 12 min and your best big plays 14 min. If the objective was to win the game by 20, then Ash, Milik, Neufeld and Crawford would have played a lot more. Now what was the objective? Hell if I know. I'd guess he's trying to separate the wheat from the chaff on the back end of the rotation. See who sticks. Plus there are a few games in a short period of time, probably trying to keep everyone fresh.
