First a leftover stat....Bills set a new Fetz FT record of 92% during the GM game eclipsing the 09 St. J game of 86%

Now onto last night...Welcome to the longest single season winning streak (15 ) in Bills history..... a win over LaS will tie our longest winning streak ever.....1947-48 into 1948-49.

The Bills ( A ) continue a strange pattern of struggling with bottom feeders and then crushing a good team. After barely winning against cellar dwellers (RI, Duq & GM) the next game we played, the teams were all ranked at B+ (Day, Rich & St. J)....and we whupped em.

We now face LaS ( B ). This will be their World Series.

Here is what we need to do to win....

LaS is slightly below average in 3's....we need to hold them to 23%....no more than 4 made ...limit to 13 att

Stop Duren....Hold him to less than 14pts....Mills is their othe 3pt shooter....hold them both to under 30% from the arc

We always win when we........

shoot 44%...............11-0

get 6 or more 3pt....11-0

have 14 or less TO...7-0

hold opp to 49 or less....5-0

hold opp to 31.9% FG or less ...5-0

Loe makes 3 threesor more.......5-0

when Jett scores 10pts or more...16-1....(Yes it is better than our game winning %...ask Backhand for the math

A chance to make history again ...let's go for 16.

Getting that first one on the road trip was HUGE. We seem to play up or down to our competition. Also, we seem to have a bit of a pattern of a strong performance, followed by a subpar performance. Duquesne, followed by the dominating performance against Richmond. Struggle against Mason, followed by great games against SJU. Hopefully we can string a second strong performance in a row together.

I noticed both of these things as well, though I saw it in reverse: Duquesne was a "hangover" game after they rolled on Fordham, George Mason was a "hangover" following their thrashing of Richmond. I hope I'm wrong, but following the trend, we are in for another "hangover" game. And against a competitive La Salle team on their home court, a "hangover" game might not be enough for our guys to escape with a win.

Frankly to me it's a little surprising, with as much senior leadership as our team has, to see us playing up or down to our competition so much.

Either way, Go Bills

practice good help defense then we should be fine.

We had alot of this against ST Joe,,took the ball away several times with help from the weak side. Keep it up!!!

La Salle actually mirrors us better than St. Joes in terms of personnel. I am surprised we are favored by more points here then we were against St. Joe's.

Duren is a scoring/distributing point guard, ala a combo of Jett and McCall. He's a fourth year senior, Philly born-n-bred streetballer, with an extremely smart basketball IQ. He is their leading scorer and extremely composed. Nothing seems to rattle him this year. He was hurt early with plantar flacitis but has seemed to recover (finally).

Mills is a shortish, three-point specialist ala McCall and McBroom. At 6'2" he is a little taller than both and almost 60% of Mills' field goal attmepts are treys.

Steve Hack is appropriately named but has posted a dozen or so double-doubles this year. He is physically similar to Loe but his game is from 8 feet in. I doubt he rebounds as well if he is forced to cover Loe with Loe more as a four but La Salle has no one else on the roster taller than 6'8" who plays much.

Jerrelle Wright is on their blocks as Evans is for us. He is foul-prone.

The "X" factor will be Tyrone Garland, the team's current designated gunner. If you put a 'fro on him instead of the braids, I'd swear he was David Burns. Quick as all hell but he only shoots about 24% from three. His strongpoint is explosive quickness to the basket and dropping "Philly floaters" on folks making layups. I know that we don't have an exact replica of this guy on our bench but it will be incumbent on our defense to stop him. Or slow him and force some one else (other than Duren) to beat us.

Their bench is weak, DJ Petersen is sixth man. Meh. Rohan Brown is their version of Manning, albeit 6 inches shorter. Double meh. And Khalid Lewis, a transfer from Delaware, is a supposed scorer who hasn't found the touch since sitting out a year. Triple meh.

I know they got a PhD on their bench but I find Giannini to be as equally slow as Cro-Magnon man over at St. Joe's. Like Schmidt up at St. Bonavenure, Doctor John should have rode the last season's success to some place greener when he had the chance. He'll never be hotter. Schmidt should have done so post-Andrew Nicholson. As I've always said, La Salle plays in the Gola Mausoleum, a real high school gym that makes Hawk Hill and Hagan look like a luxury box. But their students are like GeeDub's students who don't seem to have basketball cheering and lunacy in their blood. La Salle's is in a part of Philly that makes North Grand at Cote Brilliante look like paradise.

The sweep of Philly is doable. Then a week off to get ready to rumble .............................................

Noticed last night that we only shot 13 3's. If I remember correctly, we shot 13 3's against GM in the first half. Against Richmond, I believe we only shot 12 3's total.

In a very small sample size, it seems our offense is much more efficient if we can be patient, work the ball down low to Rob and DE and pick our spots for the 3 ball.

LaSalle has the kind of guards who can give us trouble. They don't need to pass to be effective, as their offense revolves around Duren and Garland isolation plays or pick & rolls. Our strength is disrupting the flow of our opponents' offense by denying passing lanes, and LaSalle doesn't have much of a flow to begin with. We need to hope that LaSalle's guards don't get the Tu Holloway treatment and get bailed out on their drives to the hoop. Our guards are quick, but like someone else said, the help defense needs to be on point and we need to protect the defensive glass. I still think we win, and it could be a blowout if the refs swallow their whistles when Garland and Duren put their heads down and go right.

I'd love it if we could win handily at LaSalle. There's something about them that has rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it's that we've lost a few games to them at Chaifetz that I thought we should have won. Maybe it's that there's 1 guy who is always at the LaSalle-SLU games in STL, who is behind the LaSalle bench and does these goofy gestures after LaSalle baskets. Whatever it is, I really enjoyed blowing them out last year at Chaifetz on Senior Day to clinch a share of the A-10 title.

Billikens by 5 1/2?

The Vegas line will be more like Billikens - 4.

But that is for, uh, pansies.

I say, 3*, Billikens will cover and win by 10. LaSalle will fight hard, needs this game much more than we do, and we are a bit road weary, but Crews and the boys are on a mission, and LaSalle is overrated from last year's anomaly, and is really struggling.

Whoa, let's not get too excited. On the road in the middle of goddam Philadelphia, LaSalle at home needs a win badly, A-10 refs know we want to go to the Big East.

We are clearly better, the kids are playing mistake free Majerus-Crews ball but let's not go apesh*t.

1*- 5*

3* = a "medium" pick.

5* = load up, top rated.

6* = once a year.

10* = once a decade.

Off topic, but your next post promotes you to "Listener of the Streets," MB73.
