  1. Given that Humps is apparently permanently closed, that doesn't seem likely
  2. No, a good number of knew he'd transform our program into a dumpster fire at the time: From this thread: The hiring of Jim Crews should probably go down as the the worst AD decision in my lifetime, and probably one of the worst in program history. Man, all these years later and I still become livid when I think about it. The amount of raw passion, energy, enthusiasm, and buy-in from local fans that we had from 2011-2014......... So pathetic. What could have been.
  3. But the regular season and conference tournament titles were very clearly the work of Rick Majerus's team. Crews road the late great Rick's coattails all the way to a Coach of the Year. Anyone who didn't know this then was kidding themselves. Crews had a very clear track record of being a not-very-good coach. It was a long, extensive track record whose highlights amounted to a small handful of fluke mostly one-and-done NCAA Tourney seasons. I'll admit, I'm not up on who the hot men's D1 college basketball coaching prospects are in any given season. In fact, I think you raise a good question that might be fun just to shoot the : if they could do it again, who are the coaches on the rise right now that we could have gone after with the benefit of hindsight?
  4. Couldn't pay me enough to go watch this embarrassment of a team. Doesn't mean I won't inevitably wind up going to a game at some point in the next couple months, but damn.
  5. The buck stops with the people who hired him. They need to fix this, yesterday.
  6. You saw a good one. The Lady Bills are definitely getting it done for the most part, so far.
  7. If dishing it back when I receive it makes me a "troll," then I guess so be it.
  8. Completely agree with everything in the first post of this thread. No one could have said it better than:
  9. I realize you're just (poorly) trying to make a point, but the difference between what you're doing and what I did is that I was rudely lambasted and condescended to for sharing my opinion those years ago, whereas you would catch no flack for unironically stating the Billikens will not be going to the final four anytime soon because everyone pretty much accepts that at this point. On the other hand, for whatever reason, a number of people here were hilariously unwilling to accept the reality of the uninspiring nature of the Jim Crews hire, when he was hired. And, don't worry, the extent that you "don't care that much about gloating" is really shining through in your posts.
  10. "In a world where pointing out that the Billikens won't be good without a good coach makes one a ******, one man stands tall to speak the truth..."
  11. The most disappointing part is that it directly followed a high point for the program.
  12. In fact, my m.o. is pretty much the opposite of the Marquette guy, from what I can gather. I created this account and posted back when we started to become really good under Majerus. I never shared an exchange with the Marquette guy during that time, so I can only assume he wasn't really posting here much when we were good. I really only like to post here when the team is fun to watch. Honestly, I really only enjoy following the team when they are fun to watch. Once the Majerus players all graduated, I was pretty much done following the team. Now that the Bills suck again, it seems the Marquette guy has started posting here again. The only reason I'm posting here today is because I was feeling bored/lazy here at work during the holiday season, and I remember catching a lot of flack for predicting that we'd suck once all the Majerus recruits graduated if Crews was going to be our head coach, and I wanted to see if people recognized my vindication based on the total program collapse we've witnessed over the past several weeks. It seems people did, so I'm content.
  13. Yup. But please for the love of God exhaust all "proven guy" avenues, first. Leave no stone unturned, no dollar unspent.
  14. + Infinity But this is exactly what I said when we were set to hire Jim Crews, too, so, whatever.
  15. This must be the Marquette guy everyone always accuses me of being.
  16. Hell yeah! I've been enraged since we hired Crews. It was a painfully, obviously bad idea then, and now it's come to roost. Unfortunately, I don't have much money at this point in my career, so unless the boosters feel similarly to me, nothing's really gonna change.
  17. All I said when I first came to this thread was essentially that we will not be good in two to three years, based on the reality that we are moving on from a top-tier coach to a mediocre-at-best coach. Please look at how people treated me for making my common sense prognostications. The "I told ya sos" are for them, and only them.
  18. I am not and never have been a Marquette fan. I've never even been to the city of Milwaukee before. Whoever you're talking about is not who I am. And jeez, sorry for being right about how much Jim Crews blows.
  19. For the life of me, I cannot understand where your guys's optimism ever came from. It made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. I'm not an obsessive Bills fan, or even college basketball fan. I would consider my b-ball IQ somewhere between low and average. But it was painfully obvious where we'd be by now. The only reason we were ever good was because we had Rick Majerus. In order to sustain a program at a Rick Majerus-level, you need a Rick Majerus-level coach. Jim Crews had a track record, and Rick Majerus, he very clearly was not. I understand he had a couple NCAA tourney one-and-done seasons at Evansville, but anyone banking on that was kidding oneself. In order to get back to where we were, we need another Rick Majerus-level coach. This isn't rocket science. It never was. Now, actually getting another coach of that caliber is another story altogether. Ugh. Remember when we kept making the NCAA Tournament, actually winning games in the tournament, and there was talk of us joining the Big East? It feels so long ago, now....
  20. You can access it by going to hankssportsblog.com and access it there; it's the lead.
  21. I'm all for Dayton being successful, as long as it doesn't negatively affect our chances of being invited to a better conference.
  22. It used to baffle me. After posting here off-and-on for the past two years, it doesn't really anymore.
  23. Louisville is playing like they showed up thinking they deserved the win before tipoff
