VeniceMenace
Big Ike was a freshman starter on a top 20 team, averaged 7 points, 7 boards per game. Raw like Reggie, big upside
doowop
Just watched Christian Williams help take his team to the championship game of the Illinois Class 2A State Tournament.. He is thin like the guards SLU has. He may have the same problems on defense in college because his team plays a zone defense. He can jump high but his three point shot was off tonight. He looks like a good ball player and could help SLU next year. He'll be on tomorrow night on www.ihsa.tv
3star_recruit
St. Teresa's coach switched to a zone midway through last season to compensate for the loss of their best defensive player. They played man to man before that.
TRN
@Illinois_Irish: 2015 Christian Williams had Minnesota HC in to see him last night, Iowa & Saint Louis HC's in tonight to see him. #IrishFam
doowop
Chicago Uplift had two players who looked better than Williams who had two critical turnovers in the fourth quarter, one in the last minute with his team down by three points. The ball was just taken from him. I saw him play only two games but it seems to me he would not make a BIG impact his freshman year. Not much better than Bartley was as a high school player, imo. His team finished second in state.

He'd be our best player in team right away.
TRN
He'll end up in the Big Ten so it won't matter, unless our coaches seal the deal. He's no McBroom, Lancona, or Ash for sure, lol.

I said he looked no better than Bartley did in high school and he is NOT 10 times better than Bartley was in high school. With the coaching SLU had this year, he would not be the best player on the team, at least not for long. Something would have happened to make him regress. DeSmetBilliken
Well, at least we won't have the argument over whether Williams is or isn't good enough to make an impact anymore. So there's that.
3star_recruit
Going to be hard to scout new players at this point unless the player happens to be playing for a state championship. We were already looking hard at Milik in February this time last year. Wonder if Donovan Franklin will get a serious look now. Doesn't have William's mid-range game but the rest of his offensive game is solid. And Shawnee Heights (KS) point guard Tez Scroggins is still out there. He's the quicksilver penetrator the team is missing but not a reliable shooter beyond 15 feet.
Pistol
Well...what's the plan now? We don't officially have scholarships to give, but Williams was offered and prioritized for a reason. It's going to be an interesting spring, but coming off such a rough season, it sucks to wait for things to happen.

Old guy
Well maybe we can pull someone interested in lots of playing time and thinking he may get it given our performance this season. There are all kinds of angles involved here. The issue is not to wind up with scholarships that cannot be filled.
AlumniFan
I say we just disband basketball at SLU. Clearly, all is lost.

3star_recruit
Apparently, the staff is showing interest in Chicago Uplift's star player, Jeremy Roscoe. He was clutch down the stretch in defeating Christian's Williams' St. Teresa squad. Athletic combo guard who averages 14 ppg and 4 apg. Needs to achieve a qualifying test score. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/highschool/ct-spt-0315-prep-boys-basketball-state-notes-20150314-story.html Roscoe, a Class 2A Associated Press honorable mention all-state selection, has to improve his ACT score. He plans on retaking the ACT in April. Saint Louis and Wisconsin-Green Bay both have expressed interest in Roscoe, Taylor said. "I need to get an 18 on my ACT," Roscoe said Saturday. "I'm tutoring for it right now."
slufan13
Roscoe is ranked as the 77th best high school senior by prephoopsillinois.com. As a comparison, Williams was ranked 16th.

Old guy
So, beggars can't be choosers, if we have 3 transfers how are we going to fill the slots?
Billboy1
We better be careful or could be in same situation next year with transfers
BigMouthBilliken
Does anyone know what the average student athlete ACT score is? It's good that he's taking initiative and tutoring, however I think the academic demands as SLU would be more rigorous than at a state school
White Pelican
I don't know about the athletes, but to participate on this board I understand one needs at least a 35 ACT.
