He's from the same high school (Tosa East) as current NBA player Devin Harris, as well as former NBA and Marquette player Tony Smith and Scott Merritt among others. When it came time to look for Prep schools, he needed only to look down the road and speak with graduating Marquette U star Lazar Hayward, a Notre Dame Prep graduate.

And, speaking of transfers,...the Wear twins announced they are transferring from UNC. I know some on this board think that sort of thing only happens at SLU...but in reality it happens annually all over the place from big boy schools on down to the little guys.

Just a visit. Time is running out, though, on the Spring Signing and he apparently has already decided to leave Toledo.

If you transfer, you don't actually sign a NLI do you? I think you simply apply/enroll and then they sort through things to work it out - correct. Players transfer in throughout the year.

Correct, you can only sign one NLI, when you enter college. Transfers are basically free agents that have to sit out a year.

while they sit out a year they do not count against our scholarships so why would someone prefer a freshman over a transfer who had played one year. Didn't there used to be a rule you have to get your 5 years in before you turn 25 years old?

I'm pretty sure they count.

I have read several blurbs on this kid and all describe his incredible work ethic. Describing a player like this sometimes scares me as it can be akin to describing a woman as having a great personality. That being said, I think we can find room in our rotation for a player that led a MAC team in scoring as a freshmen

:)

But then again they always describe Kim English as gym rat and I'd take a guy like him.

That a pretty funny comparison though SLUDRew thatnks for the laugh

To bring this full circle, Kim English went to Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass.

Kid sounds pretty darn good. Double figure scorer as a freshman in a legit league. 3 years of eligibility remaining, great size and a proven shooter with the percentages to back it up. I cant believe people are turning their noses up here. The program is on the rise, but not there yet. A lot of programs at the same level as SLU or better are probably salivating at the thought of this kid.

Yes, he lead his team at 12.9 per game but only shot 37% from the field. I do like the 80% from the foul line and rebounding. The thing I have trouble getting past is the fact that he was on a very bad team, worst in the MAC. You see it over and over again. Even on a very bad team someone has to play the minutes and lead the team in scoring. I guess that is why I am somewhat skeptical of this player. I just don't think you can judge much from statistics for a player from a very bad team.

If RM takes him, then I will assume he is worth the scholarship. I can't believe RM would take anyone at this point unless they have a legitimate chance to be a strong contributor in the future.

It also means the opposition's best defender was probably on him throughout the game. I figure the coaches had lots of film to look at before they had him come. Not a done deal, either, that he will sign.

37% from the field, but over of half his shots were from 3, and he shot 37% from 3 which equates to 55.5% from 2. Also remember as the top scoring threat on a bad team he was probably the main focus of the other teams defensive game plan.

I agree those not excited about this kid are off base. His 3pt shooting was higher than all our other players except for JJ who is leaving. JJ shot 38% so this kid's 37% is about the same. KM shot 36% and after that KC shot 33% with CE at 30%, CS at 25% and FJ at 28%. We clearly need help in this area. I am assuming the kid will add height that JJ was lacking and perhaps will be able to defend.

this kid is strictly average.. like WV said..someone had to take the shots..and you know at the end of the game when they were probably getting beat down that he was putting up shots against the other teams bench players.. part of being a good program is passing on players like this.. let porter recruit more kids out of chicago rather than some average player that will probably just sit the bench.. and for those arguing he is not like KC..he is..put KC on that team and i bet he has similar numbers.. people who are "getting excited" over this recruit are idiots...why not go after the transfers from SIU? dillard was prettayy prettay good..

1) He wont have to take as many shots at SLU and he will get more open looks. A 3pt specialist sounds really good to me, and this kid may be even more than that,

2) He was a team captain as a Fr. so he must be a solid leader.

3) I wouldnt expect him to set the world on fire, but he could contribute off the bench at SLU

4) He says we aren't going after any of the SIU transfers, but even if we are. I wouldn't expect Dilliard to be interested in the BIllikens.

If he compares favorably to KC, then RM must love him. RM stated, at tie golf tourmnament, that Kyle was our most valuable player.

By the way, why isn't everyone calling him Butch?

There can be good players on bad a team. Think of this kid as Highmark as a freshman….probably shot better, the three line is father back too!

I was asking the guy why he thought we weren't?

Although I am not so sure I would want any transfers from SIU
