I've read all 87 pages of this godforsaken thread, but I never actually threw up until a minute ago.

if you are saying the administration did nothing at all for January - February, surely you know that is false.

There's some good stuff in there. And I've said, on this board in fact, that the travel restrictions on China were good.

But the lack of testing capabilities is absolutely what has hamstrung our ability to respond, and it is directly responsible for the bulk of the economic hardships we're experiencing. The German CDC had a test ready to go on January 20th, a full month before we had ours. We should have had massive testing and contact tracing implemented by mid-Feb.

I am not trying to pick a fight here ,but I am curious. What in your mind has Trump done For you to consider him a great president? Serious question.

Something I''ve learned the past week and found amusing is that a few of the practicing Christians wishing everyone a Happy Easter on this board are also Trump defenders. No one, and I mean NO ONE, embodies the spirit if JC better than a self-absorbed serial adulterer who raw dogged porn stars, stole from charities, defrauded students, bragged (on 9/11) about having the tallest building in lower Manhattan as a result of the WTCs collapsing (wasn't even true), tried to ban entire religions, played basketball with paper towels as thousands of Puerto Ricans died, and had the orphaned baby of mass shooting victims brought back to the hospital so he could get a photo op with him (since no other survivor would do it).

You know, that raises a number of interesting questions. For example take JFK, man alive, he was known for his intimate exploration of Marylin Monroe (Mrs DeMaggio at the time) and who knows how many others, Clinton was not far behind. The question for you is: were these two bad presidents? Now, consider Carter, the only president who in my opinion is likely to go  straight to heaven, was he a good president? Nope, he was not. Does your private life or your attitudes about sex and availability for it correlate with how good or how bad a president you are or were? Was Carter, as probably the most moral president in over 100 years, the best president we had in that period of time?

Personally I think this thread is disgusting, but ventured back to it today because I wondered why it was still "hot." I've said nothing on here about who's President or anything like that, but I did wish people Happy Easter. Now, does a "Pro Life" anti abortion stance not mean anything to practicing Christians or the Catholic community any more? We're still slaughtering nearly 3k kids a day in the name of abortion. And the current President is doing his best to reduce that. More so than any President in my lifetime. So please, no lectures about morals and who votes for whom for President.

One of the great tricks in life is enabling and condoning racists and racism while cheering on SLU minority student athletes for self entertainment purposes.

just ask him he gave himself a 10 for how he's handling this. I think the same grade Crews gave himself when we had him.

People can't really consider themselves pro-life unless they are in favor of protecting that life all the way through to natural death. The majority of modern-day Christians are pro-birth, not pro-life.

Here is something interesting related to the Covid epidemic. It is an announcement in the PD that Wash U will be furloughing 1300 employees, mostly in the medical areas and hospitals. This is a quote from the article:

"The school's clinics are seeing 60% fewer patients, the letter says, and the medical school is expecting a revenue loss of $150 million through the end of the fiscal year.

"Even for an institution like ours, with a strong financial foundation, this crisis is taking a huge toll, primarily due to sweeping changes on the Medical Campus, which has completely shifted its operations to respond to COVID-19 patient care," the letter says. "Elective procedures and any activities that are not absolutely necessary or related to COVID-19 have been halted or scaled back. The academic hospitals have hundreds of empty beds."

Please pay attention to the last sentence: "the academic hospitals have hundreds of empty beds." This basically confirms the fact that, at least in St. Louis, the health care system is not overwhelmed by the vast numbers of Covid cases.

went after the deep state elites and has been more transparent than any other president.

he gave us the wonderful tax cut bill

he has been cutting rules and regulations many of which aided in opening up industries that had been chased away for decades to come back and create jobs

we are now a net exporter of gas and oil.

over 400,000 of the jobs created were manufacturing jobs which nobama swore were jobs that were never coming back to america  the rate of return is the fastest that the manufacturing market has grown in 30+ years

lowest unemployment in decades prior to the chinese flu virus including the lowest, african american, hispanic, asian unemployment ever lowest women's unemployment in over 50 years

he gave us two conservative leaning supreme court justices to stop the slide of our court system away from the constitution.

rebuilt the lower courts with hundreds of new constitutional aware judges

got us out of the joke iranian deal

got us out of the joke paris climate deal

rewrote the trade agreement with mexico and canada

someone finally stood up to the cheating chinese on trade and already has half of the 2 parts of agreement that will moderate fairness in trade with china for the first time ever

these are just off the top of my head.   i am sure there are more landmark advances.   President Trump was making america great again prior to the virus.

what a b.s.article.   while reading keep in mind not one american died from the chinese flu virus prior to February 29th.    no way the libs would have stood for any mandates, emergency spending bills, etc at that point.

Wait, you do understand that the very basic idea that the fact that the first American Covid death was recorded on Feb. 29 does NOT mean that "not one american died from the chinese flu virus" prior to that day, right?

He and others foresaw an unhappy population trapped indoors for months,

That unhappiness is why it won’t be months.  A politicians main goal is alway to get re-elected.  An happy public trapped inside their homes will vote out politicians who back the mandates keeping them trapped.  Not to mention the large segment of the population who will just start to ignore those mandates.

Quote

If we underestimate the virus, it will find us.

The virus has already found us.  This constant denial of the actual situation is an extreme disservice to the public.

Quote

No one knows exactly what percentage of Americans have been infected so far — estimates have ranged from 3 percent to 10 percent — but it is likely a safe bet that at least 300 million of us are still vulnerable.

They have no basis to make this statement on what is a safe bet on how many people have been exposed to the virus.  It isn’t science. It is wild speculation meant to increase fear.

Quote

China did not allow Wuhan, Nanjing or other cities to reopen until intensive surveillance found zero new cases for 14 straight days, the virus’s incubation period.

Why would anyone take anything China says about their response to the virus seriously.

Quote

Even with rigorous measures, Asian countries have had trouble keeping the virus under control.

Who would think that you can keep a novel virus that spreads as easily as this one under control? You can only slow the spread you can’t stop it without a vaccine and realistically we are probably talking years before that happens.

Quote

Resolve to Save Lives, a public health advocacy group run by Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the former director of the C.D.C., has published detailed and strict criteria for when the economy can reopen and when it must be closed.

Do people really believe that if the economy crashes further and Americans are facing destitution that Americans will listen to medical experts?  They will start rejecting everything they say as they turn their blame onto them for their plight in life.  Which would suck because we need their expertise.

What these experts need to do is come up with solutions that will work in the real world.  Ones that might mean an uptick in infections, but at a rate that won’t completely overwhelm the healthcare system that allows the population to return to work.

Quote

Imagine an America divided into two classes: those who have recovered from infection with the coronavirus and presumably have some immunity to it; and those who are still vulnerable.

“It will be a frightening schism,” Dr. David Nabarro, a World Health Organization special envoy on Covid-19, predicted. “Those with antibodies will be able to travel and work, and the rest will be discriminated against.”

I don’t think it was the doctor’s goal but his statement makes it clear why that world will never last a more than a few days in this country.

Quote

The next two years will proceed in fits and starts, experts said. As more immune people get back to work, more of the economy will recover.

No it won’t.  People won’t put up with.  These people need to work on plans that will actually be acceptable in the real world.

I could go on pointing out the fantasy world craziness in that piece, but I have already wasted too much time on it.  Just the fact that these people are under not only the belief that they can trust information from China, but that draconian measures done by the Chinese government could be implemented in the US is delusion.

Well, now the unemployment rate is going to be 30% and presidents, for right or wrong, get credit when things are good and blame when things are bad.

Deregulation and tax cuts often seem like good ideas at the time, but sooner or later the bill comes due.

Oil is so low that it went into negative territory.  We have been a net oil importer for many years now, but I do not know if oil at negative $35.00 a barrel will increase or decrease our exports.
