DoctorB
I thought some of you MBM's might like this as much as I did... during this Billiken dead period. The name Joe Fortenberry vaguely rang a very old bell but it all sounded new to me, this Monday morning... https://www.sbnation.com/2017/5/23/15680956/first-slam-dunk-1936-olympics

Just to set the record straight, Taj Mahal 79. Otherwise you'll have some on here freaking out that Cuonzo and Mi$$ery are buying up all the local talent. DoctorB
yuk yuk. ps: favorite detail from what I've read about basketball in 1936 Berlin: The gold medal game was played outdoors in a driving rainstorm in Berlin. Take that, Kevin Durant!!!

Old guy
You think they went through the trouble of bastardizing an unusual last name into something else? I know from friends whose grandfathers arrived via Ellis Island that they were given a standard choice: "Your name will be Smith or Goldstein, you choose." One of my friend's grandfather chose Goldstein because he thought it sounded more American, true story this one.
