13th ranked San Diego State scored a total of 36 points in a loss to Washington tonight. Five of those came in the last minute of play. Even good teams have bad games.

SDSU is an outstanding defensive team but not a particularly impressive scoring team, from what I've watched this season. They'll be in a lot of grinders this year, especially with the better teams on their schedule. And they'll occasionally go like this.

Actually EMU is not a bad team ( B- ). But Mich playing at home still should have won. Following the loss to NJIT ( D- ) I am sure the Michigan board is in a full meltdown. And it gets worse....next up Ariz ( A+...Think WSU) AT Ariz. When it rains it pours....Of course, there will not be a giant gap so Mich will have a chance to win but Ariz will be the fav.

Who knows if they can keep it up in conference play, but so far Davidson is not looking like a doormat at all. They've scored 90+ points four times already, a couple against decent opponents.

So far Davidson (NCAA RPI of 68) and Dayton (32) are at the top of the A10 table each at 7-1. St. Bonnie is at 6-1 (100) and GW at 6-2 (45) and Rhody at 5-3 (46). VCU even at a disappointing 5-3 has an RPI of 24. UMass and Richmond both have respectable RPI's of (52) and (35). Of course, Green Bay of the Horizon League has the #1 RPI, so all of this is somewhat meaningless until conference games start.

Right. Funny how that never came up in the talk of SLU being 280th or whatever.

For now, Davidson (A) is the class of the A-10...no doormat this year. They have a chance to be an elite team. We will find out on Dec 30 when Davidson plays elite Virginia ( A+ ). If the Wildcats can keep it close (they don't have to win) then they will move into the elite category and they will be the team to beat in the A-10.

Speaking of grades, how quickly can SLU get out of the Fs?

Well , the simple answer is to win the next three games. Ordinarily, it would only take 1 win but our nexr 2 opponents are so weak ...SIU-E ( F ), UTPA ( D ) that it will take 3 games to climb out of the hole. It is possible in 2 games if we beat SIU-E & UTPA by double figures.. Bottomline ....keep playing better...win some games.
