wgstl
Assuming he's eligible right away, Webster will be pretty loaded next season. Hopefully a Chaminade-Webster game happens one way or another. True but we will still be pretty young next year. WG will have its ideal team in 2 years
TheChosenOne
True but we will still be pretty young next year. WG will have its ideal team in 2 years Makes sense, Webster had a really good team this winter, but was led by a lot of seniors in Floresca, Harris, Hilton, and Craig. Does Webster have any other quality young kids beyond Ramey and now Gordon (obviously having two high-major recruits is huge)? I thought I remember them having another freshman dressed out for the preseason jamboree (kid looked like a linebacker), but didn't see him play at all. billiken_roy
While gordon has an incredible build for a freshman he has a LONG way to go as a basketball player. He is definitely worthy of closely following but at this point he is no sure thing as a D1 player imo. I find it very interesting that Missouri will not necessarily allow him to transfer from V to Webster Groves. However it has been my understanding that cheeseman has a Missouri high school administration background so I won't question that. Seems quite draconian to put a kid and his family thru the process when going private to public. Just verbally wanting to no longer be beholden to the cost of private tuition should be enough. There is one kid whos name I cant think of, along with Gordons brother. Ive heard that carte'are gordon was in the WGSD before making the move to Vianney. Bills_06
Mizzou has seemed to just offer a bunch of 2017 kids recently. I know they offered Wyatt Yess recently as well David Sloan and Jordan Goodwin this week. Wonder if Crews will offer a few kids in a short period of time here soon? Can't remember if Crews has done this in the past. We only have one offer for 2017 in Wyatt Yess, right? Very strange how we seem behind on Goodwin. RiseAndGrind
Mizzou has got to try something. Anderson might not even be there in two years.

JMM28
When's the last time Missouri or Illinois offered a sophomore and that kid actually made it to campus? Jereme Richmond is one that pops to mind. And we see how that recruitment and career went.
bauman
How many scholarships do we have open (that we know of) for 2017? Maybe that's why JC is not just throwing offers around. I'd rather be able to tell a kid that we only have 2 (for example) available scholarships and that we think so much of him that we are not just offering way more than we can give out. In effect, we are reserving one for him and not just using the first to accept get the scholarships. That might make it clear to the kid that we really want him. Well I think right now we would have 2. Crawford and Agbeko would be graduating. Of course there would be the 3rd from Tatum leaving to go to the draft unless he shocks everybody and decides to stay another year to go back to back national championships. Then any other that would open up.
billiken_roy
Althoff's run to the illinois state championship game and goodwin's role should have been enough for crews to offer the young man. We are blowing this. We should have been out front embracing Jordan's want to be a billiken instead we will now have to explain why the big boys showed love first. crymdg2
I'd say worse than Harrelson as Goodwin is already a legit big time recruit much sooner than Harrelson who was more of a late bloomer.

bauman
The staff needs someone with local connections. Do you mean someone like Justin Tatum or Claggs? It's a shame if Tanner hasn't already developed those relationships since he has been here the longest, but I don't think he would be able to recruit the area like a big name former player could. The rule was put in to keep schools from recruiting. There is a big divide between the private schools and public over this recruiting issue. It is so deep that the public schools have threatened at least twice to split the championships into public and private. The private schools do not want that so this rule has stayed in effect. It actually was even more strict with no waivers ever being granted but it has got a bit easier.
cheeseman
When's the last time Missouri or Illinois offered a sophomore and that kid actually made it to campus? I wonder if the same is going to be true with the 4 star they just signed - I find it odd that he was still available this late - you have to wonder if he is even qualified or if he can even get qualified. TheChosenOne
When's the last time Missouri or Illinois offered a sophomore and that kid actually made it to campus? I guess if they get Cook he would be one. Isn't it pretty common for programs to be offering recruits the summer before their junior seasons? Especially "local" kids who you have likely seen a lot early in their careers. 17 months from now when he is announcing his decision it may not matter when we offered or who offered first, but this one really doesn't make sense to me. Our recruiting in general leaves a lot to be desired (please save us Jayson), maybe having a massive dork and a really old guy as your lead assistants isn't the move. Like Roy said, there really is no reason why Jordan Goodwin should not have received an offer from us at some point during his sophomore season. The kid is a beast and if the concern is his skill set for his height, well he showed the perimeter ability during their playoff run. If he becomes a three Point shooter to go along with what he has now he is a very high level recruit. But he can pass, dribble, defend, and rebound now as well as most. He probably gets to the rim better than anyone I can remember except maybe Darius miles who basically could just jump over people he was so athletically gifted. Goodwin just has the knack and quickness and power to get there first. We are blowing this

billiken_roy
-i don't like to hear us missing on locals, i hope we are just not in the know I wish you were right but I have my information from a very good althoff source we have not offered. Granted we cannot directly offer yet since jordan is still a sophomore, but that doesn't keep crews from offering via third party. A coach at althoff or the Eagles for example

I came away from the O'Fallon Shootout thinking that if he doesn't grow much more that he could be a Jett type of a player who can attack off of the bounce and just outmuscle other guards. He is just so damn tough/relentless and appeared to have the physical ability to play on the perimeter just lacking a consistent perimeter shot (from what I have heard since I didn't really see him shoot a whole lot from distance). He has time to work on his outside shooting and improve that part of his game. He played with the Eagles 17s the other weekend and had 12 rebounds in one of the games. Really don't understand what we are waiting for.
