Yep, Fitzgerald, after twelve years of blood, sweat and tears was able to build the program into an Audi A4.  Monson quickly upgraded to a BMW 5 Series and handed the keys to Few.  Few has upgraded the program to a Rolls Royce.
Crews was handed the keys to a BMW 6 Series and totaled it.  Ford wasn't even given a functioning car.  Five years later we're driving in an Audi A4.  Not sexy, but significant progress nonetheless.  

Kudos to Loyola and clearly it appears I was on the wrong side of that argument. I had them about where they were seeded. Brian and some others had them as better. I would stand by their seeding as I don’t believe their resume supported better. However, I think this makes it clear they are a top 20 team at a minimum. 

Watching this Porter coached Team right now... I don’t watch a bunch of other teams throughout the year and this is the first Ive seen Loyola play. Two takeaways. Krutwig is a physical anomaly! And Porter truly is a Majerus lite.

Loss sucks... it hurts. Season over and a disappointing one in that. But all I can say is major thank you and kudos to all the student athletes and specifically thank you those with the most scrutiny - our men’s basketball program. All of these kids have been kept from going home, poked and prodded daily for tests, and haven’t been able to be normal college kids. Every parent I know who sent their kid to college this year said their kid got covid within the first week or so. I see photos of their kids out on the town and enjoying their lives, as they should. Our boys were locked up and focused on basketball. Easy to judge and blame but also, if you give a little grace, easy to understand all these crazy results (the Ohio state losing to an old Robert’s that lost to Mizzou by 30, Purdue crumble, 20 point comebacks, Louisville losing by 50 to UNC, etc.). These guys ran out of gas, and I can’t blame them. I understand pointing fingers at the coaches who are PAID, but I think this season was hard on them too. We’ve already seen a “great coach” in Izzo underperform, and I’m sure we will see many examples of “great coaches” have teams that falter this March. Hard to coach players that have had their lives flipped upside down for a year. I for one can’t wait for next year’s season. So thank you to our men’s team for putting up with media BS and thank you to every SLU athlete making a sacrifice to perform at the highest level and entertain us fans. 

Goodwin would have signed with the Illini Groce would have continued to flounder for an additional season or two. The iIllini Rebuilding would have started at least one season later and Goodwin could have possibly played in zero tournament games.

They might have to put it in performance mode.

If we can’t beat a team that is on the wrong side of the bubble we don’t belong in the tournament.  We have a chance to get a game that could punch our ticket and it seems like some fans would rather not to play that game and would just be happy to complain about how unfair the committee was when we get left out.

Drake is in because they are 19-1 with their leading scorer Shanquan Hempill in the line-up and he will be healthy for the tournament.

Anthony Grant has exposed the weakness in Bully Ball.  If you get out on Perkins and Jimerson and pack it in against everybody else, there's no path to the rim.  Especially with 6'10 guys back there.  And our non shooters are not going to make enough jump shots to hurt you.

It's not great but this game was scheduled a few days ago and Philly was hit with a blizzard between the announcement and the game. And we're still watching in live on an inexpensive streaming service.

Having Fordham in the league is important for the other conference members for fundraising.  Schools love having a chance to bring in NYC alumni when they play at Fordham.  If conference members could vote a team out, Fordham wouldn’t be in the top 4.

Both parties have interest in that.  He's going to explore all options.

Imagine complaining, in the year of our lord 2020, about games not being “televised” when just 10 years ago you’d have to find an illegal stream of the jumbo tron feed to watch. Also this game is on FSMW, so I’m not sure the complaint.

Depth doesn’t necessarily mean going 10 guys deep the whole game. Sometimes it means it gives you more options to pick your 7 for a game. Maybe thatch and Hargrove are more active in the next game. We got hot in the second half and stuck with what worked. Which is also a plus side of having so many players.

You’re missing my point. I agree with everything everyone has said about the financial benefit of being top tier in athletics. But if you’re on the board of trustees or an executive at the university, you also have to deal with the interests of all the students and faculty, even if those interests are misaligned from potential financial growth. Having to deal with tenured professors, even on trivial matters, is probably just a delight (blue font). Then you had in the discussion of funding, and everything goes off the rails. You get a large group of students protesting at the clock tower because the school funded athletics over academics, now you’ve got a new PR problem. The solution is not as simple as the president getting on a loud speaker and proclaiming, “Advancing our athletic department is what’s best for the university...deal with it!”
