  3. Hargrove with the first bucket for BBE. Great hype for SLU from the announcers.

  4. All men are dogs really. By the same token all women are (insert your own epithet here.) We all want sex and we all want it to be like it is in the movies. When your lover turns out to be Aziz Ansari instead of Jerry McGuire you do not get to run the the relationship police. This is nuts and has to end.

  5. It's become clear to me that the pendulum has swung so far to the female side of things in Title IX cases that you are inevitably going to have many instances of disgruntled women claiming Title IX violations as a way to seek revenge on men they are mad at. If you believe half of what Terrance Phillips wrote, it's clear that was the largest motivation for his accusers. It has always been the case that disgruntled women could falsely claim physical abuse by then men, but typically there is some sort of sign that physical abuse actually occurred. In this way, most of the complainants had to be legit because there was actual evidence. With Title IX all it takes is a woman saying that she once had sex under the influence with a man and now regrets it or is uncomfortable around that man. That simple accusation basically stains that man forever and in the case of athletes more often then not gets them kicked off the team.

  6. Thanks for posting @dlarry, I am looking forward to the season and the positive vibe with our favorite basketball team is great but I will not forget the injustice until those responsible are unemployed. Happy Friday

  10. Terrence Clarke - SG, 6-6, 180 - Boston, MA (The Rivers School) - Twitter: @terrenceclarke_ Offers: SLU, Rhode Island, Georgetown, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Rutgers, UConn. Interest: Villanova, Duke, Louisville, Boston College, Ohio State, Baylor, Kentucky, Vanderbilt. Latest News: Clarke received offers from SLU, Indiana, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Iowa, Syracuse, and Rutgers after being named MVP of the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest. (7/26/18) Scouting Report: Clarke is an elite wing and considered one of the best players in the 2021 class. He has tremendous length and athletic ability. He's a high-volume scorer from everywhere. He sees the floor extremely well and makes plays for his teammates. His length helps him rack up steals and blocks. He rebounds the wing very well. His shot is a bit unorthodox in form, but it works; he makes it at a good percentage from everywhere. Rankings: Future150 - 1, ESPN - 2. -There's a better chance that this kid will go straight to the NBA (because they'll change the rule by then) than he will end up at SLU. But hey, I don't mind a statement offer.

  12. You didn't mention the fact that the players (one or all posted the video online) why do you leave that out? So the players have no responsibility for what happened? I wonder if/when we will hear something about the Circuit Attorney and if she will pursue charges. They may have gotten a break because she seems more interested in pursuing charges against Greitens ( which will further her own career) than pursuing charges against the player/players (which won't further her own career).

  13. With you all the way on 3 point shooting. We were something like 314th last year for shooting from afar. We lost our best three point shooter (Johnson hit 43% in conference play) and our second best shooter in Roby. One way to look at the new team is comparing overall shooting versus conference play shooting. Bess was 27% overall and 26% in conference play. He has had two years under Izzo and two under Ford to improve his shot, so I'm not looking for much improvement. Bess won't be taking as many three pointers as last year, so maybe 30% is doable. Goodwin was 23.5% overall but a huge jump to 34.4% in conference. He certainly can be written in for 35%. Isabell was 34% and 36.7% in conference. So a slight improvement there. 35%, yeah. Wiley was 36.7% and 36.7%. That's consistent. Mark him down for 36.7% this season. And no one wants to count Welmer. He finished his one season at 37.1%. If he can replicate that, it is icing on the cake. Freshmen - who knows. In HS ball, passive zone defenses and/or 5'6" man to man perimeter defenders leave shooters wide open. In AAU ball, defense is all but taboo. Hopefully one of the four will rise to the occasion and be a long range sniper off the bench. A team average of 35% would have been in the neighborhood of 175th last season in the NCAA. I'd take that.

  14. On the other end of the spectrum, the 1994-1995 NCAA team had a total of 33 blocks, lead by David Robinson's season total of 8. (I doubt if any of those were against Tim Duncan.) That team also shot 38.9% from the arc, lead by H at 42.7% and Claggett at 41.9%

  15. Some interesting stats from that game. Duncan, Childress and Banks all went 40. Wake played 7. We went 8 deep (barely) with the starters all 30 min or more. (Who says college kids can't play heavy minutes?) 19 fouls on SLU v 6 fouls on Wake. Yikes. With the off day shooting for Claggett and H, it's amazing that it was a 5 point game. Harris, as usual, was a monster on the boards. (This is a classic picture.)

  16. I love how if anyone ever suggests that women should be held to some sort of comparable level of accountability as men, you automatically get labeled as a victim blamer and misogynist. The more I hear about these sorts of stories, the more I start to believe that a significant portion involve women outright making up claims of rape.
