Matthew Rocchio: Billiken Breakdown

This is an amazing deep dive into how the Billiken offense is supposed to flow.  This isn't five on five pick up basketball that Schertz is coaching.  It showed me how detailed the offensive scheme is and why it will take time for the offense and defense to be hitting on all cylinders.  When Avila was out, the flow of the offense was significantly altered.  When he and Swope were in, the ball and player movement were much crisper.  There is a segment where Rocchio highlights Thame's  game.

He was Randy K group producer on 101. The entire show got canned recently

Impressive  breakdown.  I could use slower video and arrows to for my brain to see everything  he is stating. Loved seeing Thames recognize the gap, but waiting for the right moment to make the cut.

Rocchio has worked in local radio for nearly a decade, producing at 590 and 101. He's been covering the Billikens for a while.

As was mentioned, he was recently laid off by 101 along with Randy Karraker and others.

He's a sharp journalist but doesn't take himself too seriously.

Never heard of it. Oh, just looked them up only 1 basketball win in 2024.  Not this season all of 2024.

Aren’t they located somewhere in the middle of the state? Seems I may have vaguely heard of them…
