Love this card of Robbie in Billiken gear.   Not thrilled with the “St. Louis” spelling.  This is the first card I have printed from an active SLU athlete - not counting the ones they used to give away at the Griesedieck Hall cafeteria at breakfast.

Just purchased this one.   MMP had a really nice interview with her.   Very cool she made it into the Topps set.

Cam had an excellent year in 2022 as the Bills closer after transferring in from Mizzou.  He wasn’t drafted but had two great years in the Frontier League and was signed by the San Francisco Giants at the end of last year, pitching very well for San Jose (A).   He will join 2024 draftees Pat Clohisy (Atl) and Evan Gray (SF) in the affilliated minor leagues this season.    Pitchers Miller Hogan and James Norwood are still active and may get invited to a minor league camp.

Got these 2 Larry’s yesterday.   I like them both a lot.   On one he is guarded by Kobe and the other he is in the throwback Washington Bullets jersey, which were awesome.  This makes 158 different LH cards I have.  It was insane how many card varieties were churned out in the early 2000s. image.thumb.jpg.160f8394c6fec88dd7907b9aca9f92cf.jpg

This team has one of my favorite mascots ever - a water tower. As I understand it, when the Florence Mall closed, they repainted the water tower next to it, so instead of saying "Florence Mall" it now says "Florence Y'all." And hence, the team name was born.

Florence Y'alls - Y'all Star just stopped by to say hi and he hopes to see you all tonight! He just wants to appreciate you! #GoYalls | Facebook

I dunno man. That is possibly scarier looking than that early edition of the New Billiken from a few years back. Yikes!!

When the water tower was originally painted to say "Florence Mall" in 1974, the mall was still in development. Kentucky's Department of Transportation determined that the advertisement was illegal because it was promoting something that didn't exist. So they changed the M to a Y and it became a local landmark.

I've also been told that it is illegal in most states to advertise private businesses on water towers, which are generally municipal, county, or state properties. From what I can find online, this appears to be true.

So they couldn't change it back to M if they wanted to - although the change has been a much better advertisement for the city and mall than the original ever could've been.

That mascot story is in the top ten, along with, of course, the Billiken.

No one asked. Bard's Burgers is a great spot. It's deep Covington, too - not the kind of place out-of-towners find, but I'm glad you did.
