Unusual arcs to her seasons but you can't argue with the results. She's going to have to evolve. I understand playing an extremely tough non-conference and getting pummeled to battle harden a team for conference schedule, but getting results in regular season conference play is the next step. Yeah I'd like to have a season where we don't have to go on a late heater run just to have a shot. Quote

Looking forward to the new season for both the men and the women. Go Bills! Lord Elrond and slufanskip 2 Quote
Lord Elrond Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) First of our 2025 commitments, she is listed as a 5’10” combo guard, from Legacy Early College HS in Greenville, SC. Also played for Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem, NC, found a link to one of her highlight reels on Hudl http://www.hudl.com/v/2MemTe Edited July 22, 2024 by Lord Elrond P.S. - hope the link works for people, I’ve had trouble posting them on here for some reason undoubtedly linked to basic incompetence on my part Pistol 1 Quote
thetorch Posted July 24, 2024 Author Posted July 24, 2024 Brown is a top 5 player in South Carolina. Listed as a combo guard because she's been a score first player for her HS. Very good shooter and strong enough to score around the basket but she excels in the open court with her vision and ballhandling. Will always be another pg on the floor. Been playing high level ball for a long time, was a varsity starter for her HS in jr high. Pistol 1 Quote
Pistol Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Welcome, Rita Nazario! SLU's late signing is a PG from Portugal. Depth piece, high academic, cultural fit for now. Hopefully develops into a solid rotational player over time. Quote

With this addition, still another to give if we want (limit is 15 in Women’s D1 basketball, adding Rita Nazario brings us to 14, and that’s assuming Isabel Tillett is now on a scholarship (she wasn’t when she got here, but she could have one, ). In our initial interview with Tillett, she told us Isabel would be on scholarship. So my understanding is that she always has been. The current roster shows 13 (before Nazario), so your count is correct and we still have one to give. Lord Elrond 1 Quote

Pistol Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Well, @Lord Elrond, it appears we're mistaken about having 1 more or they're not using it: "Roster complete." OkieBilliken 1 Quote

I took off my shoes so I could use my toes, went to the Billiken roster page, which has all players listed, and counted 14. The NCAA limit is 15. If Coach Tillett is fine with heading into the season with only 14, I guess it’s her choice. I just think back to last year, when we had to get Knox College as a replacement at the last minute because Davidson couldn’t muster enough players to play a game, or back to Lisa Stone’s last season, when we played with only 7 a couple times, and 6 players in the St Joseph’s game. I think I would want 15 just in case, or to use in practice if nothing else. But, if Coach Tillett is comfortable with only 14, I guess we play with 14. Pistol and OkieBilliken 2 Quote

PM me if you want to know a trick to count to 21. Only works for boys though. Billikenbooster 1 Quote
