I'm reading this, so you must not be.

OK I'll speak.  Clock, you are misreading my remarks, irresponsibly but not necessarily willfully.  (Not willful, since It's possible you are simply a very poor reader.)  And thanks to guys like 615 and Quality, whose reading skills are superior to yours, for stepping up to my defense.  They and others were more successful in unravellling my very very complex prose.  In a morbid way, I actually admire the creative reading of my comments by Clock, since it so expertly reveals the epistemological confusions that more and more people are recognizing as essential to the Facebook media culture of our current mess.  Bravo Clock for that ingenious reading, coupled with your savvy, Fox News-like pivot away from my actual point!
The passage in question is this:  "Evidently some are clueless to the general tone of these issues in the media and culture right now;  when a guy like Matt Lauer can be summarily fired like he was the other day, I think it's pretty clear that we've reached some sort of unprecedented tipping point on issues of sexual abuse/assault, not to mention simply stupid sexual nonsense like has been alleged in this case."
I was making a fairly obvious observation about the "general tone" of sexual misconduct in our culture right now, and my sense that we've reached some kind of "tipping point," meaning we've become ultra-sensitive about these things.  One recent illustration of this is Lauer but I could name a couple dozen more, all of which have contributed to this context. As for the timeline of this emergin tipping point, , I suspect a lot  of it went on steroids when out great leader's idiotic comments to Billy Bush broke in October 2016, showing the world that he was a serial predator.  So Lauer is simply the latest in a long series of idiot sexual conduct being exposed (no pun intended).  I even showed how Lauer and the basketball situation are different, by distinguishing Lauer from "simply stupid sexual nonsense."  Actually, now that I think of it -- the sentences are not really all that complicated, after all...
I am a cultural historian by trade so perhaps I take for granted some of the underlying premises of my remarks.  But you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows....

Me neither.  I must agree.  Get a life, anyway...  this thread (which I started, btw) at 80 pages?? really??
Evidently some are clueless to the general tone of these issues in the media and culture right now;  when a guy like Matt Lauer can be summarily fired like he was the other day, I think it's pretty clear that we've reached some sort of unprecedented tipping point on issues of sexual abuse/assault, not to mention simply stupid sexual nonsense like has been alleged in this case.  I also value integrity in the program, and the school.
From my reading of the student code, and what little knowledge I have of what was alleged to happen -- duh, some rules were broken.  Hope I'm wrong, but we some of us may need a bracing reality check.  But my point is --  we are living in very troubled times regarding these issues of sexual misconduct, and the media is hungry for more. So be patient and do it right.
If you don't want to support SLU athletics, then don't:  I can PM you a list of a couple dozen very worthy  local charities that could use some additional holiday love and support.

I love horseradish.  One of my favorite flavors.  Doesn't mean it won't get me.  I full expect to take bites that are too big several times and go into those very brief horseradish seizures.

Lol seriously? I am also frustrated with the investigation. But a university president’s job is so much more than that. Under Pestello SLU is tackling its financial issues while climbing up in the U.S News rankings. They have record freshman enrollment. He has a vision to invest heavily in research.
Has this been handled in the most efficient way? I don’t think so, but I’m just an average joe fan with extremely limited knowledge. Who knows what’s actually going on with this.
Fire a university president for a slow title ix investigation? Give me a break.

The new Star Wars movie debuts mid December. This is actually good timing. Look for some free ticket give-always?

Just pointing it out as an indicator of why colleges may act the way they do when complaints are filed.
Again, there's a lot of complaining that our players are being treated unfairly but I haven't seen anything to indicate that being the case, at least so far.

SLU  2 - 1 - 2  against the NCAA Elite 8 in 2017.  Whoever the new coach is, he is not coming to a team completely bereft of talent.  May stated he could not conclude discussion with several of the candidates as they are still involved in the tournament....this promises to  be interesting...

From my point of view this is absolutely correct, there may not be any publicly announced sanctions when the time comes, but this does not mean the situation will be over and everyone involved will be free and clear of any further issues or consequences, this includes the University as well. Just take a break and look at the news for the last few weeks, sexual misbehavior is front and center in the news with more and more people resigning positions or being fired by their companies. Just look, what do you think makes the University or the involved players immune to this trend?

Nice display of dunks, but I would rather see 10 to 12 jumpers than dunks. We already have dunkers amongst our bigs. Need a big who can hit mid range.  Sure, mid range ain't gonna make the highlight film, but we need a 6'6"+ player (besides Johnson) who can hit a jumper from the elbow.

I just want to note to the intelligent soccer fans (or at least one's who have watched a game in the last decade) that Fordham is in the Sweet 16.  Fordham is not the only sweet 16 team that SLU beat this year as Stanford is in the sweet 16.  Akron, whom SLU tied, is also in the sweet 16.  A bunch of teams SLU lost to are in the Sweet 16 as well.  I think SLU had a broadly talented team this year that were not particularly coached well.  The A-10 had a good season and VCU got a seeded NCAA berth (UMass crapped out in the first round but they were really playing over their heads all year).
The last few bids went to Washington, UNC-Wilmington (with 11-7 record), Pacific, Virginia Tech (YES! they made it with a .500 record), and Charlotte (8-5-6).  It was a pretty strict RPI selection (although the seeding was not) with NC State (8-6-4) getting the non-RPI selection.

The Police and the University are two different organizations with two vastly different standards.  I and we for the most part have little idea as to the real details of these events.  The police not charging someone of sexual assault doesn't mean it did not occur, it just means there isn't anyway to prove that it did.  SLU can pop these guys easily for violating their rules of conduct.  To this point I cannot fault SLU for it's handling of this case, no matter how much I want these guys on the court.  Hopefully they will be reinstated soon.

We've heard your guys feelings on this. Duly noted for those that do care we have this thread ignore if not interested. No one who plays for the team has "let me Down". I'm interested in them all.

If we do not get Sorber, than we should give Caleb whatever he is asking.  Obviously he left the Timbers as soon as he saw the Bills job opening up

I was personally present for the infamous SLU at Stanford NCAA Tournament (not A10 Tournament) Quarterfinal, played at Stanford's pitch, with the grandstand literally divided by a tree.  This SLU team was loaded with talent, Brad Davis, Dipsy Selolwane.  This was the game SLU lost on an errant goal kick, which has to be the most bizarre play I've ever seen in soccer.
Before the game the prototypical Stanford couple in their sweaters, call them Buffy and Jody, sat right behind us.  Buffy reviewed SLU's roster on the program, and bellowed out, "They don't have any players from California."  BAB turned around and responded, "You don't have any players from Missouri."

Maybe RA had permission to go see his old team, Seton Hall, play Indiana in Newark or he was sick and stayed at the hotel.
