  2. Hey, when did they let you start posting more than once a day?
  3. Well said, another reason to like him imo is overcoming stuttering. not even counting irony that he became a commentator.
  4. Yesterday
  5. Stu's article on the roster and what is next is linked below. Squad reports this week for physicals and then starts in the gym next week. Schertz said in a previous interview he believes two players will have obligations for their national teams, so they will miss part of the off season. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/with-slu-roster-complete-josh-schertz-will-bend-his-system-to-fit-talent/article_8d76e928-1ce6-11ef-9b65-3f6c81e1b6dd.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=user-share For me two interesting points. First, if you expect a duplicate of last year's Sycamore's, you won't see it. “It will look different than Indiana State in the sense that the personnel is different. We’ll probably be better in some areas and not quite as good at other things. I look at bending the system to the strength of the players with some things being non-negotiable. But you have to be open to discovering a team.” Second, he prefers a tight rotation. Who will fit into the rotation in 2024-25 remains to be seen. Schertz did not rely much on his bench at Indiana State and philosophically seems to prefer a tight group. “We really played six players significant minutes, and everyone else was spot minutes,” he said. “I would like to have more depth than that, but one thing you can do is play too many guys. If you have 10, you can do that. I had that much more in 22-23. But it’s harder for guys to get in a rhythm that way. I like it when your best players are out there the most. It’s best in terms of chemistry to have a top five, six, seven and everybody else. Then they’re not complaining about not playing because it’s pretty obvious.”
  6. Dayton's DaRon Holmes staying in the NBA Draft. I have seen him as high as 20th and as low as 52nd. Lesser known Rasheer Fleming from St. Joseph's is dropping out of the draft and returning to St Joe.
  7. Schulte was one of the 25 players called to final US Olympic soccer team's training camp. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2024/05/twenty-five-players-called-to-us-mens-olympic-soccer-team-for-final-pre-olympic-training-camp-and-match-against-japan-in-kansas-city
  8. I’d take $450 as a college kid. I’d buy an Oz in those days
  9. Only Austin Mcbroom can carry on such a legacy
  10. Bill Walton is an all-time great basketball player. Not really a debate there. He doesn't have to be your particular flavor of color commentator. He's one of a kind. His politics have mostly aged well. His beliefs come from a place of kindness, openness, and care for others. Those usually aren't wrong in the long run. He brought his own brand of joy to everything he did and basketball is richer for it. We take sports too seriously today. We need more characters - especially the weirdos who bring positivity and genuine love to everything they do. I've had a blast reading through all the anecdotes and memorials for Walton in the past couple days. I don't think there's another living person in or around the game who will generate such rich grounds for memorialization. I'll miss his presence around the sport.
  11. I think I need one of these. She's a super sweet person. We had a couple of classes together in undergrad, helped her study for a Theo test in her dorm once.
  12. SLU Barnes and Noble Bookstore is officially 404d
  13. We're keeping up with the Joneses. It's a game changer because it's an opportunity to run with that we haven't had ever for our athletes. If you don't work at using this valuable partnership by creating designs people identify with, by making a name for yourself in the community and on social media then you it's not going to change the game for you. It'll just be a place for your family and friends to buy shirts to support you when they come watch you play. I have a sneaking suspicion that SLU Women's Soccer are going to be way bigger beneficiaries of this than anyone thinks. So many soccer girls running around Hermann stadium last season wearing player t-shirts.
  14. FSU’s NIL store is run by the same company that operates SLU’s.
  15. New card alert! Pakorny isn’t getting a lot of playing time this season so far but it’s still cool to have a player in the premier domestic league.
  16. There is no pushback (edit: from me). I'm totally fine with it. I just think that folks on this site think this is some sort of a game changer for our guys, and the reality is that its really not.
  17. The other small print says that this particular site was made just for FSU as a way of funneling more of the money per item to FSU athletes ("instead of only earning a small percentage"). I am guessing that the SLU NIL store is through a company doing this all over the country for different universities. So, I think my $7 per shirt is still a good guesstimate. My point is that our guys should be able to make more money for a one hour appearance at a Pasta House or car dealership than all the money they make on this site for the entire year.
  18. I guess they are still working on the relaunch of BVF.
  19. I do not understand any of the push back here on this whole deal. This is what NIL was supposed to be. The schools are clearly subsidizing the hosting and design fees for their athletes with NIL Store. If the designs aren't your bag, they aren't your bag. Jersey's aren't your thing? Fine, but to expect customizable Nike jerseys from this store, I'm not sure you were paying attention. Is the design on Robbie's face outline shirt way too small? Sure, valid complaint. But it's a weird to criticize the quality without actually touching the merchandise. Liberally speaking, outside of maybe 10-15 Billikens on rosters, this is going to amount to Jordair Jett's parents buying and customizing a bunch of shirts with their last name on them.
  20. The way NIL should have happened.
  21. A quick google led me to the FSU NIL Store and they give the payouts at $8-15
  22. Moy, Jimbo, Nash and God rest his soul Bonwich all popped up in that one. Good times.
  23. I love the idea of this store, but I would be shocked if any of our players made any more than a few hundred dollars off of this stuff. I would get guess that if a shirt costs $40, the player is getting $5 - $10 per sale. Also, none of this is being held in stock. The way it works nowadays, the company makes a shirt only after someone orders it. Let's say one of our player sells 60 shirts (which seems like a lot) and makes $7 per shirt. Congratulations kid, you just earned $420 before taxes. Given the tax bracket some of them will be in given their NIL payments, that means they will probably clear about $250. Doesn't seem all that worth it for someone making six figures on an NIL deal.
  24. moytoy was in that thread. That's a blast from the past. It appears his last post on this board was almost a year ago to the day. That post, like many of his, was spot on. I just gave it a like.
