FromGreeceWithLove
Well, the first week seemed to go pretty well, so here is this weeks 5 Questions: 1. What is the best Billiken basketball game you have ever seen, whether it be in person or on tv? 2. Which Billiken squad was your favorite of all-time? 3. Who do you think will lead the Billikens in scoring this season? 4. Who do you think will be the other guard in the starting lineup, next to Tommie Liddell and Kevin? 5. Moderator of The View and host of Millionaire, Meredith Vieira...would ya?
Alonzo P Hawk
1. KU. Dec. 98. I was there for the incredible win. 2. Erwin, H, & Scott...but this year's squad will probably make me forget about those guys. This year is going to be killer. 3. Lisch followed by Ian. 4. It's up in the air. 5. I have no idea who that is. I'm in college, I don't have a TV. ------------------------------------------------------------ *Official Billikens.com sponsor of Mike Beczkala
LoveforVouk
1. Best game would be 2004 NIT game when Drejaj hit the 3 at the buzzer and everyone stormed the court. I've only been at SLU for 3 years so there aren't a whole lot of great games to choose from. Soph. year was pretty bad. 2. 1995 with Claggett, Highmark, H Waldman, Jeff Harris when they made the second reound of the tourney. My teacher in grade school let us watch the game during lunch and recess. 3. I think Ian Vouyoukas will lead the team in scoring as long as he stay healthy. King Vouk will have some great games, but if he doesn't shoot his free throws well, that will hurt his scoring as he gets fouled a ton. Tommie and Lisch will both average double digits again, but I give it to Ian because of his abilities and the amount of free throws he will get. 4. I think Danny will join Tommie and Kevin. 5. Vieira is a yes.
FromGreeceWithLove
1. The Louisville game in 2003 was by far the best game I have ever been to. Going toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the land and Marque Perry finishing it off for us was magic, the court storming and then massive amount of alcohol consumption following the victory was awesome. A close second would have to be the SLU/Mizzou game during the 2001 season, although we lost on the Wesley Stokes floater at the buzzer. 2. I would also have to go with the 1995 squad. They truly represented SLU well and I see similar qualities in this years team. I remember playing ball on the playground pretending to be Erwin Claggett, my brother was always Scott Highmark. 3. Kevin Lisch; he didn't shoot the ball as well as he is capable last season. 4. Houston's finest Danny Brown a.k.a D-Nice 5. Definitely, she is one of my guilty pleasures. billikenmetz
1. 2003 Louisville 2. 2001-2002...last Romar team 3. Ian 4. Danny Brown 5. I would rather do the Hasselbeck girl on the View, but I'd take a ride on the V-train any day.
slu72
1.) Old era: 1971 over Louisbille to tie for MVC conf champ. New Era: Beat UMass in first round Of NCAA 97-98, 2.) Clagg, H, Highmark 3.) KL 4.) LM -he fits UB's comfort zone 5.) Why ask, it ain't gonna happen.

Taj79
1. Tie: early 80's, I believe Monroe's sophomore year. Hersey Hawkins and Bradley came to the old Kiel. Place held 9K and there were like maybe 6K in the house. With four minutes to go, Bradley up by nine or so. Final, Bradley had the same point total and we won by like five or seven. It was what a home court and crowd were meant to be. NCAA Second Round loss to Wake and Tim Duncan in Baltimore. Bought a seat from a scalper that was 10 rows behind the basket on the floor. We lost, but having Saint Louis on the Court with Wake (Duncan), Okie State (Reeves) and Alabama (McDyess) was amazing. 2. Claggs/H/Hmark senior team. What a beauty. Close second: Douglas/Gray/Bonner/Hudson/Roder team in Bonner's junior year. 3. Ian 4. Four-headed monster based on matchup because Brown/Polk/Meyer/Maguire have all come on strong enough to do it. 5. Can't say; don't know. Already sleep with the best; the rest would never measure up and it just wouldn't be fair to downgrade these women through no fault of their own. One of the few nights in college where I felt SLU was more like a state-school. 2.) Clagget, H, Highmark's senior season. 3.) Lisch 4.) Danny Brown 5.) I guess. Pistol
1. Louisville- but is it possible for ESPN not to do their "What is a Billiken?" feature every time a SLU game actually gets highlighted? 2. The same squad that beat the Redbirds that year: Sloan/Diener/Perry/Brown/Fish/Hunt/Varner/Drejaj/Shortal/Lance Randall - there couldn't be a more likeable group. 3. That's a tough one, but I'll go with Kevin Lisch because he can score in more ways than our other potential top scorers. 4. Brown- it would be Polk if he could be as consistent as we'd all hoped. 5. I'll say no on that one, but close. Maybe enough whiskey could change my mind.
Iggy
1. Watching the Bills cut down the nets in Memphis was a great experience after driving through a snow storm to get there. (Probably not the best 'game' but they cut down the nets!) 1.a. Driving to a high part of town in Little Rock just to be able to get KMOX on the rental car radio and listening to Anthony Bonner's team come back from 20 points down at half in 'The Pit' at New Mexico against Luc Longley to win a trip to NYC. That is quite a memory! 2. Any team with Bonner on it. 3. Ian. He's got something to prove. 4. Meyer. He could be a really nice '3'. 5. Yep. slubaseball42
1. 2003 Lousiville, unbelievable...howmany chance do SLu fans get to rush the court?? 2. 2003, ayone who gave me this opportunity I am greatful....plus I don't have any memory of SLu before 2001. 3. Liddell 4. Hopefully Polk because we need the other two to score more. 5. I don't know who that is. Not a big TV guy outside of sports. billiken_roy
1. What is the best Billiken basketball game you have ever seen, whether it be in person or on tv? first time the billikens beat cincy at the arena in claggett's soph year. claggett hit an amazing turnaround 3 from the head of the key to put us ahead to stay and the crowd went wild. the look on huggy's face was priceless. 2. Which Billiken squad was your favorite of all-time? claggett, highmark, waldman, dobbs and robinson 3. Who do you think will lead the Billikens in scoring this season? kevin lisch 4. Who do you think will be the other guard in the starting lineup, next to Tommie Liddell and Kevin? meyer 5. Moderator of The View and host of Millionaire, Meredith Vieira...would ya? meredith who? Tonka
If I'm right she is the gal replacing Katie Couric on the Today show. 1. Just for the fun it was - beating Cincy when Love jammed it at the end to put it in their face. 2. The year's team - looking into the future and specualting 3. Lisch 4. I hope DB 5. Unless this person you put here is somebody like the old woman from Throw Momma from the Train, I'll probably say yes
Band Legend
1. Definitely March 1990, SLU at the Pit facing the UNM Lobos. It was on Channel 11, I think, NIT quarterfinals, and if they win I'm on a bus to New York city for the semis and finals. Down by 21 at the half, they came back for a scintillating win. Melvin Robinson schooled Luc Longley. 2. This years team, because it's coming up. 3. Lisch 4. Dwayne Polk 5. Absolutely

Box and Won
1. The final Miracle in Memphis game vs. DePaul. Louisville, KU and Mizzou #1 are runners-up. 2. Bonner/Gray/Douglas 3. Liddell 4. Polk 5. I don't know - probably. Out of the ladies from The View, I much prefer Elisabeth Hasselbeck (although she seems like she'd be a bit of a dud in the sack). Roy and Rich, you guys would like Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she's a hard core Republican, from what I've heard.
brianstl
Did you just say Elisabeth Hasselbeck has done hard core? Where can I get a copy?
billikenmetz
Check Roy or Rich's private stash...there's a couple of Ann Coulter books in there too...which is considered pornography in many states. I don't think Hasslebeck would be bad in the sack, but since my football career is way over, I'd love the chance to sack one Hasslebeck. She's gotta be a BC alum or something, because if they met in Boston, there's no way she went to that school in Cambridge.
Box and Won
Yep, I think she played softball at BC.

cheeseman
1. SLU's comeback in the NIT over New Mexico - down by 20 at the half playing in the Pit and we won going away. 2.Highmark/Claggett - but I agree TL/KL could change that. 3. KL could be it if we can find another outside shooting threat - if not then IV. 4. Brad is in no position to play kids who fit his comfort zone this year - it is NCAA bid or bust with this being IV's last year. Meyer's has much to prove if he wants to be the 3. It is Brown's job to loose but we saw him do just that last year. Polk could easily see much playing time particularily if the Brad runs more - no need to be a dead eye from the outside if his speed can create transition baskets. DM - don't count him out just yet. The key to this question is how the 4 is handled. As has been pointed out many times before - if IV and a 4 can clear the boards then who plays the 3 will become more clear. 5. OK - I am game
