HoosierPal
First 20 minutes discussing Collins. Collins deal has been in progress for about a month. Agent said NBA Scouts told him Collins needed work at a 'higher level'. Rammer "unless Magic Johnson comes to SLU, you won't have a better point guard next season." Rammer: Tennessee had been making overtures to Collins all season. It was very strange that he sat out the NIT game. Travis Ford acted angry on NIT game day. Not disappointed, but angry. After the game Rammer talked to Collins: "How you doing". Collins: "I'm fine." Rammer said this was kind of hinky. This is all just business. If you are offered a big bunch of cash, you take it and move on. Now SLU needs two PG and two Bigs. Assuming reasonable health with Perkins, SLU was reasonably a Sweet 16 team. How the team remakes it's roster back to that level will be interesting. Need someone to run the offense for 25 minutes. He isn't on the roster now. Opportunity for Thames...let him run both ends of the pick and roll. Wind has been taken out of our sails. As of right now, it is all about money. Can you hold coaches to a high standard if the money isn't there? If Rick Barnes doesn't win the National Championship, should he be fired? The new SLU $25 million sports center, does it matter? Does a nicer locker room matter? If I can get a bigger $$ deal, does it matter what the gym, the weight room or locker room looks like? Days of building programs are over. It will be more like AAU, "Hey lets put a team together this year and go for it." Covid has opened the door for this, with the extra year eligibility giving more players fewer minutes. Strickland was a victim of this, his minutes decreased with the roster size. Nesbitt's minutes were going to go down here. He will get more minutes at Hampton. See what is left or what happens after the 5th year runs out. How many millionaires will get burned by an athlete who takes their money and then 'screws up' somehow. They are 20 year old kids. They will make mistakes. majerus mojo and BuiltFordBills like this
Brighton
Just another reason to get out of Division I and that’s not hyperbole. It was a good run.

There's no reason to "go" anywhere. The P5 is taking their ball (of cash) and going home.

I'm honestly getting to be of the mindset that the rest of CBB should tell the P5 to go away.
Brighton
The lower divisions or NAIA look good right now. Where’s the return of your investments if you aren’t in P6 ? Lindenwood of St. Chuck picked the worst time to leave D2
Bay Area Billiken
Perhaps SLU boosters should hire their own NBA consultant to give Yuri's agent/people, whomever is influencing, a second opinion. Murray State (then OVC) PG Ja Morant is starring for the Memphis Grizzlies, averaged 27.4 ppg, is easy proof you don't need to "prove it" in the Power 5, especially at an SEC football factory. Weber State in the Big Sky is even lower in the hoops pecking order than Utah State in the Mountain West. Morant and Lillard played in the Ohio Valley and Big Sky, respectively, not at SEC football factories.

An assistant coach at Tennessee was personal director for multiple NBA teams. He just happens to be a Ladue grad, too. Was a pretty damn good high school basketball player back in the day. stmdragons
It's not like there are any recent examples of players from the A-10 getting drafted in the first round.

He spent time at Austin Peay, which used to be in the OVC, thus should be very familiar with Ja Morant and Murray State ...
thetorch
If it was common knowledge that Tenn was tampering with Yuri most of the season why was nothing said? STL media would have loved this story. While i may not want to donate money directly to players I would have been happy to organize a group from sec 213 to drive down to Knoxville and put Rick Barnes in a coma. HoosierPal
Rammer on with Frank C today Courtney Ramey will get paid. He is talking to Kansas, Illinois, and Gonazga. Can SLU compete? Will any of the other teams give him the ball and tell him to run the team? He would get the 'keys to the team' here but not likely at the other three. Would he take a little less $ to be 'the PG guy' in his hometown. He has been away from STL for 4 years. Is coming home a positive issue? He does work out with Drew Hanlen here in town. He will go where he gets paid the most. Rammer: don't call it NIL, as the players don't have to do anything with their Name, Image or Likeness to pick up the check. The SLU NIL system will use Enterprise Bank behind the scenes. SLU 8 man rotation: Okoro, Perkins, Jimerson, Pickett, the PG TBN and then Thatch, Parker and Hargrove. Thatch can guard anyone. He was a "2" last season who guarded 4's. Position numbers are dated and don't mean what they used to. Thatch can do anything. Look at the Golden State Warriors play small. You put your best five out there. Frank talked with an SEC coach (likely football) who said it is important that every team member get a cut of the NIL. Would O'Loughlin want to carve out some of the $25M for the new center and give it to a player fund? They have already started constructions, so it is doubtful any of the donors would pull out now. Brock Bonner, Anthony's son, 13 yr old at 6'6" is learning ball handling skills. He isn't on the block. A backup big is still a huge need. I'm sure Rammer overlooked it. But it does bring up an interesting point as one of the 8 above will not be in the rotation if Ford keeps his usual 7/8 guys

Coach314
With four scholarships available..wouldn't we want more than one to go to someone who is in the rotation?
